Salem was driving the soles of his boots into Cartwright's limbs with great fury and force, prompting the challenger to make an attempt to get away by rolling towards the nearby ropes. Some fans were dissatisfied by the prospect of Cart once more trying to buy himself time to recover, but the rookie champion was far from letting his opponent get off the hook that easy. As Cartwright rolled, Salem would follow after, waiting until Cart was just about to reach the ropes to grasp at the middle cable. Then, with a jump, he'd swing his legs heels outward like a pendulum for Cart's chest, trying to force him to the outside with a sudden double-kick to the man's sternum with hopes of knocking him to the outside for the first time this match.

Cartwright was enjoying his time in the ropes as the fans booed. He looked towards the fans and waved at them, only for Salem to take advantage and kick him to the outside to cheers. Cartwright gets to his feet and rests on the barricade.

Jacob Griffin made his way out from backstage and on to the top of the entrance ramp. No music. No dramatic flare. No microphone. Nothing! He stood on the top of the ramp for a moment watching as Salem attempted to knock Cartwright from the ring then proceeded to make his way down the ramp. He circled the ring, giving no mind to Lady X or the two men in the ring, and sat down with the commentators. He grabbed a pair of headphones and placed them on the top of his head and then waited for his chance to speak his mind.

Salem seemed to be on the ball early on in this match, capturing the fans' attention while also keeping the momentum in his favor following his belt shot to start off the match. Sitting on the apron, Salem leaned on the middle rope and looked out at Cartwright for just a second, smirking before his attention was caught by the sudden arrival of Jacob Griffin descending the ramp. The rookie was curious, but couldn't let himself get too distracted with anyone else. Already, there were many factors at play, most notably the count that had started since Cart had departed from the ring. Before the referee could get to three, however, Salem would slip out from the ring and try grabbing Cartwright by the hair. If successful, the Asylum Champion would try laying into the lad's gut with a fist from his free hand, looking to double him over into a standing Crossface if his strike connected.

Hey look everyone! It's Griffin! Like what is he doing here? Cartwright knows what he is doing here. Griffin came out to watch his favorite wrestler in the whole wide world compete right in-front of him, Cartwright! Cartwright is that awe-inspiring! Salem doesn't let the arrival bother him, but the little distraction did give Cartwright time to suss-out his next plan of attack. A fan tries to pat Cartwright on his back as he leans on the barricade, so Cartwright tells that sucker to sod-off and get more SWAG. Cartwright tries to grab Salem as he exits the ring and send him head-first into the steel steps at ringside!

"Man. That plan sounded so much better in my head."
That was surely the thought preoccupying Salem's mind as he slipped out of the ring...the contender for his title taking him by surprise by using Croft's forward momentum to run him head-first into the nearby stairs. The top two steps disjointed from the heavier base of steel, Salem's bones banging up against the unforgiving metal with a sickening thud. Fans gasped from the sight of their favorite freshman being used as a battering ram, but their cries fell on deaf ears as the M.W. Deuce writhed atop the metal foundation that formed the former set of stairs.

Cartwright looked at his handy work and smiled. Listening to the thud made him smile. Listening to the fans gasp made him smile. Cartwright is a happy chappy right now! Don't think you can try to get a cheap and easy win on the mighty Cartwright the way Salem did or else you will end up like Salem is right now....with an improved face! Such great D.I.Y plastic surgery right there performed by Doctor Cartwright, who I would certainly trust with a knife! Cartwright grabs Salem by his hair and lifts him up, attempting to body slam him on to the steps!

Griffin sat in his chair taking in the match and listening to the commentators talk. He had ignored them when they first asked him what he was doing out here but it seemed like he was finally ready to speak as he leaned forward and fixed his headset. "Cartwright is a dear friend of mine and I would love to see him win this match, but then again I don't really want to beat the living hell out of a friend to get what I want," Griffin said as he leaned back and put his feet on top of the announce table while Cartwright attempted to slam Salem upon the steel steps. "I want the Asylum Championship and I want to beat Salem Croft to claim that title," Griffin said with a grin. Salem was a tough customer and Jacob knew that he would have to pull out all the stops to defeat him. Jacob was there to scout out Salem so that he could take him out when his time came.

((Sorry for my absence gentlemen and Cartwright, wink , I had some tech issues.))
Lady X gasped with the audience in shock of the impact and covered her mouth, eyes wide, before she calmed a bit more and became more concerned. She then waited for Cartwright to walk away from the impact zone before she quietly and quickly headed over and knelt beside Salem. "Are you alright?"

(10-4, good buddy! biggrin ) Salem was still reeling from the previous impact against the steel steps, and thus too weary to realize Cartwright was quickly upon him, pulling him to his feet by the hair. Wincing in pain, the rookie champion's hands flailed weakly in the air, struggling to grasp at Cart's wrist before he felt himself hoisted up into the air. Dropped back down onto the steel base of the stairs, the wind was crushed from Salem's lungs like a squashed soda can - the M.W. Deuce, clutching his ribs and abdomen while rolling onto his back. The referee had already gotten up to five when Lady X approached, Cartwright taking his time to gloat and jeer at the crowd over his handiwork.
"Y-Yeah...I'll be fine..." Salem managed to say, grunting in pain as he tried to sit up.

Cartwright chuckles away and points at the downed Salem, shouting to the fans, 'LOOK AT YOUR HERO! YOUR CHAMPION! HE'S NOTHING! JUST LIKE ALL OF YOU!'
Crowd: "BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!"
Cartwright thrusts at Lady X, who clearly wants him, as he grabs Salem again by the hair and tries to roll him back into the ring so he can cover him following the heavy damage he just took.

The audience was livid with Cartwright's cocky display of showmanship, booing the b*****d king as he flaunted his current dominance over the Asylum Champion. Salem was only just managing to sit himself up when he once again felt his scalp being jerked up on, tugging him up to his feet only to be swiftly rolled back into the ring. Cart was smart - if he'd spent much longer on the outside with Salem, the match could've ended in a count-out, allowing Salem to retain by default. But the wily warrior was too keen on the many rules he liked to exploit, instead making sure to cover the M.W. Deuce before too much time had passed.
"One! Tw-!" the referee started, finishing his count barely after it had began as the resilient rookie shouldered up at the second slap of the mat. Cartwright had done some damage, but there was still miles left to travel before he could sleep, or expect to put The Daredevil away just yet.

OK, Salem wants to kick-out, that's cool. Cartwright wanted to give him more of a kicking anyway! Clearly is Salem was smarter he would have stayed down as now he must continue to take the swaggety wrath of Cartwright! Cartwright rolls Salem on to his front and attempts to work his spine with a jumping knee drop to it!
