Mac heard her squeak, and laughed. That was quite the reaction! He had to admit there was something freeing about having the truth of their screwed up relationship spoken out loud. The feeling didn't last long however, as she brought up her deal to him. Despite the benefits, he didn't like feeling blackmailed into admitting something that she knew she heard. His chuckles had stopped and his eyes narrowed at her once more, his lips settling into an uncertain line.
"And I swear on my word, if you break yours, we're done. I can't do this s**t again." It was a fair warning as far as he was concerned; these last few Octobers really took a toll on him. "But I really don't remember what you're talking about. Besides, if you heard me, then you know what I said."

Hel puffed out her cheeks as Mac laughed, and then scowled. “Bah! I do not break my word, so if I say I will not, I will not!” She then reached out and punched his arm. “You are an asshat, throwing around ‘we are done’ so easily! You did not make these last few Octobers easy for me either.” Hel then just stared at him. What…he…forgot!? Hel’s mouth dropped open as she just stared. So unfair. Now all she had to hang onto was a memory…and now there wasn’t really a deal, because now she wasn’t getting anything out of it. “I hate you.” She announced, finally closing her mouth and her brows furrowed as she fell into thinking once more. “Okay.” She finally decided. “I am going to amend the deal to another promise. A question, and now two promises…but before I do…” Her lips twisted and she stared at the boil intensely for a moment before her expression relaxed. “I think something clicked for me. It was like you hit a light switch in a darkened room for me, and now I can just see things. I feel better too, oddly enough!” Hel paused briefly. “But…you know what I think now, too? I think if you want to sit there and say I have not been the reaper I once was…well, I do not think you have been, either, because yanno what? You used to tell me really nice and meaningful things often without any prompting, and I know you are hurting about Lizzy…I do, I know…but I do not think any of that should be an excuse for me to receive the short end of the stick from you…I can handle you being an a*****e, Mac, because that is you, and I do like that about you, but sometimes you have just been beyond an a*****e…sometimes you have just been cruel to me.” Hel’s free hand came to pat the hands that were still on hers, before she settled her hand on top of his and rubbed her thumb over his knuckles. “I know, now, I cornered you to a really bad spot…and I truly am sorry…but I will also say, that maybe if you did not be so mean, and maybe, if you had just got the balls to come out and tell me how you were feeling more, despite my piss poor attitude…maybe I would not have nagged you so bad, huh?” She smiled a bit, and then shrugged. “But ah, it is a dead horse I am beating now! So here, my last two promises for you. I promise I will not nag, pester, and badger you anymore about feelings and relationships…and my last promise! I, Hel Selie—“ Damn, that felt pretty good to declare that name “—Promise that I will be an even better reaper than I used to be!” Here, Hel grinned. “A promise for you, and a promise for me as well.”

Mac only smiled when she raged and punched him, but otherwise said nothing to her accusation. What else was there to say? He only opened his mouth at her announcement, and even then it was only for a soft. "No you don't." Because nobody hounded and begged over feelings for someone they hated. Nice try, Hel.
The Reaper did manage to give her an apologetic look that he didn't remember. He had a fairly bad memory unless it involved something he could gain from, so even something as important as a near-confession fell by the wayside. It didn't have anything more to give him, because he already had what he wanted. He already had Hel. Though perhaps, judging by their current conversation, that might not be for long.
"I'm glad you feel better, though." He managed, before he saw that look, the one that meant she was going to go into a spleal and he was going to admit - probably only to himself - that she was right. Damn her and her easily readable ways, and damn her and her logic. "They had prompting, all of them did. Because you were upset." He pointed out; he didn't recall any particular time where he just said things to say things, but he certainly remembered the times when she looked or acted very hurt, or complained about Mot, and he had told her the truth from his point of view.
"I'm sorry I've been cruel to you, Hel. I haven't exactly been fair, either." It was his attitude that probably got him into trouble sometimes, but there were times where his attitude kept him from fixing it. A vindictive part of him that refused to budge if he felt slighted or put-out. "I'll try to stop that." Which was the best he could do. Try.
She went on to explain her promises, which sounded good to him, but before he could open his mouth to tell her so he realized something. "...Selie?" He repeated with a confused tone, forgetting to commend her on her promises in light of this new - and shocking - information. "When - and why - the name change?"

Hel narrowed her eyes and leaned towards the boil with the utmost serious expression on her face. “ But I hate you, I really hate you, so much, I think it must be…” She leaned back then, and smiled, and listened as he spoke. There were those good feelings! His words made her feel better, and the apology well… it was really nice. Hel would do something she rarely, if ever did, and now that everything was said and done… she’d let it go, because she was the poster child for trying, and that was all she could ask for from Mac now. To try. Like she was. Oh wait…Selie? … Oh.“…Oops!” Hel said, going wide eyed for a moment. Oops, bad friend…(and bad ghoulfriend now? That thought excited her way too much) she forgot to tell him! Oh s**t…this happened quite a while ago too. “Ya! I was talking to Gramps uh… a while ago and I told him I did not want to carry the name Brynhildr anymore because it did not feel like me and I was distancing myself from the person I was…so he gave me his name! Er…well…he said I could borrow it…but really, that just means it is mine now.” She informed with a nod.

"...True Love?" Mac finished for her with an amused sneer. Yes, he knew that song, he sang it for her at Prom. He nudged her playfully after, for no reason other than he could.
The story about her new last name though, was something else entirely. He had a lot of questions, but there was no way he was going to make sense of her answers, he just knew it. He wasn't a fan of his own last name, but his last name was a part of him; any thought to the contrary didn't make sense to him. Yet if it worked for her, it worked for her. No further pushing needed. Perhaps he'd ask her in an attempt to understand at a later date, but for now, he'd be happy to take it at face value.
"So...you were adopted by a Horseman? That's a little weird, even for you. But I guess if he was a senile old fart, it makes sense.." He was teasing, really.

“Ya. True love.” Hel sneered right back with a smirk, and then nudged him back.
At his question, Hel actually paused and thought about it. Woah…even though she had more or less adopted Salbei…the thought that he did adopt her in return just seemed to slap her in the face now. “…Ya…I guess he did! I mean…he does call me Problem Child and his brazen little…filly…Huh.” She nudged the boil again. “Ya, he is old, but he is not senile! Also, I am not weir—OH HEY GUESS WHAT!” She suddenly remembered something.
“I am fairly certain I am about to get a job!” Hel grinned. “Personal assistant to the Head Trick or Treater!”

Mac looked like he was thinking about it pretty seriously. His dark eyes were lifted, his fingers scratching at the stubble on his jaw. "...I don't think I can get used to Selie, but...who knows, it could grow on me." With a shrug he looked at her as she got distracted, muttering 'squirrel' under his breath with a small laugh.
"A job? ...you?" He teased with a grin, just before reaching out to ruffle her hair. "Good for you, I'm proud. When do you probably-maybe start?"

“Weeeeeeeeell it is a good thing I do not care about whether you will get used to it or not. Truer words have never been spoken: deal with it.” She then shoved him, and then shoved him again, with a scoff, followed by a laugh. “YA, me, a JOB!” She repeated, and then tried batting his hand away from her hair. “Hey, hey! Do you know how long it takes to prepare my hair every day?” The answer was nothing, because Hel was lucky if she remembered to brush it when she got out of bed. The ghoul grinned regardless. “Probably-maybe soon. Hopefully.”
After that, Hel sprung up to her feet. “OKAY! I am going now!” She announced way too loudly. “I am going for a walk.” Because she just wanted to sort together some loose ends for herself, in light of their big talk. The reaper leaned and threw her arms around Mac in a hug, making sure to smother him with her bosom for a good few moments. “Thanks.” She uttered, sincerely, before she released him, and planted her hands on his shoulders.
“Hey…you should text me before you get into the shower…I will join you.” She grinned.

"Whatever, Sassbucket." Mac rolled his eyes as she told him his opinion didn't matter. Her shove made him sway but he didn't topple, and instead put more effort into making her hair good and messy; he did indeed know how much effort she put into it.
Which was none.
"Alright~" Mac leaned into the hug, his hands sliding down the curve of her back, for a very obvious squeeze. Her offer brought a grin to his lips, his hands sliding from her butt to her hips, giving her an appreciating squeeze. "I'll let you know." He released her slowly, fully intending on sitting there and watching her leave.

“No, you.” She replied rather maturely, and could only cackle when she was groped. One word: Enabler. Of course, Hel couldn’t leave on such a pleasant note…oh no, more teasing needed to be done. With her hands still on his shoulders, the reaper leaned in and brushed her lips along his jaw, and then around the shell of his ear, before nipping. Her voice was low as she purred: “And you will pet me.”
She then pushed off of the boil’s shoulders, and sprung back, giving Mac a salute before she spun on her heel and ran out of the reaper gardens…simply because she could.
