Twinkletoes cried for a bit more until Cadence showed up and spoke. Wait... She scared the dresser?! Really?!?
She blinked through her tears, looking at Cadence, clinging to Shining and then at the dresser... as if she was processing the formula to cure cancer...
After a moment or two of silence, she squirmed in Shining's arms and whimpered in efforts to get put down on the floor.
He blinked and tilted his head. Cadence seemed to really have a way with children. He was about to ask Twinkletoes if she was ok, but she started to squirm and wriggle out of his grasp. He set her down quickly but carefully before she'd slip from his grasp completely.
He took this moment to make sure all the children were behaving. Jeesh... he wanted children of his own, but three were quickly becoming a handful. Could the two of them really handle three little munchkins of their own? Cadence most likely could, but himself? He was beginning to doubt it.... But only a little...
Now that she was on the ground, Twinkletoes stared at the dresser, her gaze growing darker as if realization was setting in that it was all it's fault that her head was now all hurty.
She took two quick steps towards it, quite suddenly and stomped her hoof. In the same instant, she threw her hands to her mouth to yell, "BOO!!!" She then giggled and pointed to the dresser while looking at Shining and Cadence with a prideful puff of her chest! "Scared it!!"

Cadenced laughed, watching Twinkletoes calm down and walk over and 'scare' the bookcase. "Good job! It will think three times now before messing with you!" she grinned before looking over at Shining, noticing the complex look on his face. She smiled and leaned in, giving him a quick kiss and nuzzling him, rubbing their horns together as they used to. "Having second thoughts?" she teased, latching her arms around his one. "They aren't so bad really...." she said dreamily before remembering "Oh yes, double cookies!" she announced, walking into the kitchen and coming back with a plate full of chocolate chip cookies. Ten each to be exact. Two for everyone. "Two cookies for Moonlight for being such a good girl." she said with a wink, handing her the cookies before going over to Wild Moon. "Two for the little man! And two for the oh so scary Twinkletoes!" she giggled, handing each two cookies. She then straightened up and went over to Shining, giving him a different kind of smile. "Two cookies for my big man."
Wild Moon watched as the pink lady quickly calmed down his fussy sister. He was impressed. She calmed down Twinkletoes pretty quick, maybe she was pretty ok. No scratch that, awesome! Two cookies! "Yey!" he grinned, looking at his two cookies, holding them up to make sure they were both equal before taking an even proportioned bite out of both and munching happily. He sat down and wiggled his footsies, staring up at Shining with an expectant face. "Swtowry nao?" he asked, pointing to the book that he dropped before Twinkletoes had her accident.

Cookies! The dark hued tot happily latched onto the promised cookies, bounding back up to her hooves. Did that mean she didn't have to be all boring and behaved anymore?
Who cared? Cookies!
Something about a story? Oh yeah, the books and all; she'd almost forgotten with the promise of cookies and all. Course, now she had her sweets and was open to other distractions again. Leaving her brother alone and nibbling her cookies contentedly, Moonlight trotted over to watch her sister's antics for a bit. So...the bookcase was the enemy? Finishing one cookie, she looked at the bookcase, then the cookie, then held the sweet close, aiming a squeaky growl at the evil piece of furniture.
Yeah, that'd show it not to get any ideas about messing with her or her family again!

Twinkletoes giggle-squeed at the sight of cookies! And not just one cookie, TWO cookies! Her mommies never gave her that many before! She then put an equation together in her head:
Bad, Mean Dresser + Scaring the Bad, Mean Dresser = Triumph and prize of cookies!!
And now that she was the one between the two in that equation that had the cookies. She hoarded them, and stuck her tongue out at the dresser in further triumph before marching off to nom on her cookies elsewhere.
"No?!" he half defended himself. He totes was having second thoughts, but he wasn't about to admit it. He took his cookies with a thankful nod. "Maybe...?!" he added while popping in a cookie and chewing it. He swallowed it down then drooped a bit. "Ok, maybe a little." Like Shining could ever lie to the love of his life...
He chuckled faintly and rubbed the back of his head. "But that doesn't mean I don't want any kids of our own! I'm just worried that I'll not be as awesome at this parenting thing like you obviously are." He turned as he talked, finishing the other cookie and snatching up Wild Moon. He sat back down on the floor and settled Wild Moon down on his lap.
Flipping open the book, he began to read.
Twinkletoes marched a bit more as she nommed her cookies into crumbs and oblivion! However, the start of Shining's voice on a story quickly grabbed her attention and she took off, skidding to a halt on her knees at his side. She leaned forward with her hands on his leg and peered her head towards the pages, making Shining lean around her with a chuckle to be able to keep reading the words.
"DUCKY!!" she squealed with glee and clapped her hands before she leaned back into the way long enough to curl her hooves up under her and sit down properly. She then rested her head in his lap, keeping her eyes on the vivid pictures on the pages and yawned a bit.

Smiling now that everyone was happy and the evil bookcase had been defeated, Cadence took her two cookies and set the plate down, happily and daintily chewing on one as she sat down on the other side of Shining. She leaned in and nuzzled his shoulder, watching the children crowed around him as he read. "I think you will be fine." she whispered and patted her lap for Moonlight to come sit.
Wild Moon patted his sisters head and crawled over to where he could grab an ear and suck on it after nomming both his cookies all gone. He curled up into Shining Armor's arm and rests his head back into the large white unicorn man that was his cousin thing. K... this wasn't so baaad..... he let out a tiny yawn and twisted himself so he could better reach an ear to suck and still see the pictures.

Okay, she supposed that now that her work was done establishing territory and boundaries against the evil furniture, Moonlight could go see about this 'story' thing. She watched her siblings crawling all over the white stallion, then over towards the pink lady waving to her. Ha! She got her own lap to sit in!
Her final cookie was sacrificed to the little fauny's stomach as she crawled into Cadence's lap. She'd peer over once in a while at the bright pictures, but mostly her sharp ears listened, taking in the story, as well as her siblings' antics nearby.

Twinkletoes yawned and stretched briefly before curling up where she was laying. Her thumb plunged into her mouth and her eyes slowly drifted, flaring open briefly in efforts to hear how the rest of the story ended, but she eventually drifted off into slumber-land.
"With Spring in full bloom, the Ugly Duckling finally came out to the lake once more... his head drooped, knowing that all the teasing and the mean games would continue on for another long summer. But, to his surprise, the other animals were rather nice! They smiled and waved, and one little bird even offered a share of their snack of seeds. The Ugly Duckling was confused, but gratefully accepted. When he finished his seeds, a pair Swans walked past him. Oh how he longed to be as beautiful as them!" he turned the page, oblivious that he had successfully put one child to sleep. "'Hey!' called out one of those gorgeous Swans. 'Come swim with us!' called the other. 'Me?!' The two Swans nodded. 'Yes! You! Come on!'
'But I'm such an Ugly Duckling!' he cried.
'Ugly?'
'Duckling?'
'Nonono! Come look!'
'Come see!'
The Ugly Duckling waddled down towards the pond and...! he playfully gasped as he turned the page, clearly more into this story than he would have realized.
"Much to the Ugly Duckling's surprise, he wasn't an Ugly Duckling at all! He was a big, beautiful Swan! Just like the two Swans that wanted to swim with him! It was a happy day, and he lived happily ever after... The... End..."
He shut the book and looked about at the current state of the kids, blinking at each of them.
Twinkletoes simply snored softly and drooled where she lay with her ear being ceremoniously sucked on by her brother....

Wild Moon's eyes fluttered shut slowly as he listened to Shining's voice, trying to find the equalness of it all, but much too enthralled with the story. As it came to a close, Wild Moon drifted father and farther into dream land. Once there were three beautiful swans instead of one odd not belonging ugly duckling, Wild Moon let himself go and passed out in Shining's lap, still sucking on his sisters ear but making soft sleeping noises.
"Thats two out of three..." she smiled and laughed, petting Moonlight's hair and glancing down to see if the third one was asleep. "We should probably get them into a bed though......" she said softly, smiling. OH if only they were her's to keep!

Unlike her siblings, Moonlight was fighting the on-coming sleep. Not successfully, but fighting nonetheless. Full belly wasn't helping...neither was the petting of the hair...
She squirmed lightly, letting out a squeaky growl that lead into a yawn. Golden eyes fluttering closed, she curled up tightly, hiding from the light. Cookies...then sleep...okay, guess she could sleep now...

Shining smiled. Maybe kids of their own wouldn't be so bad after all. They all looked so peaceful and calm. Sure they were a handful while they were awake, but that was half the fun, right?
He quietly set the book down and whispered. "Give me a second. I seem to be a little trapped..." he chuckled softly, then attempted to manage.
He carefully lifted Twinkletoes' head and moved his leg out from under it before settling her head carefully upon the floor. With that done, he carefully moved Wild Moon into a cradle in his arms and made his way into a stand before crossing the room and laying the kid on his bed.
He then came back, lifting Moonlight carefully from Cadence's lap to lay them down beside her brother.
Twinkletoes didn't seem bothered. She continued to snore and drool upon the floor.

Cadence laughed as he un 'trapped' himself and gently put two of the kids on their bed. Once her lap was free, she gently scooped up Twinkletoes and brushed her bangs out of her eyes a bit, inspecting where she had hit her head earlier, before taking the last of them in and tucking her into bed. Once they were all nice and tucked in, she shut the door slightly, cracked just a little to still hear.
Wandering back out, she began to tidy up the bookcase and took the plate back into the kitchen. "See, not and at all, is it? And now you have some practice for when we make some of our own" she laughed softly and went over to give him a well earned kiss.

Shining chuckled and swiftly crossed the room, scooping up Cadence and twirling her in place before setting her down and rubbing their horns together lovingly.
"Not bad at all." he agreed then grinned. "I'd say that was practice enough, don't you?" he asked, kissing her softly then winking teasingly. If was funny how playful he could get on a whim. Especially when Cadence was around and/or involved.Aaand This one is now completed. <3
