Saskia followed him to the stream without another word, not even a thanks. She could tell he was thinking about other things and really she didn’t have it left in her to keep up a conversation anyways. Once they were at the stream she merely nodded to his comments in silence, then wadded out into the warm water. The moving stream felt incredible against her punished legs and she let out a soft sigh before she bent down to drink a little. It was tempting to gulp down a whole lot but she held back, knowing it would only interrupt her sleep, and she wanted to sleep far more than she wanted to drink down a lot of water.
After thanking him again, she said, “Is the cave far? I could walk there on my own, I’m sure, if you need to be on your way.”

He laughed, then shook his head.
“Oh no, everything I’ll need to help your friend is still back at the cave. It won’t do me any good if I hurry on and wind up getting there without it all, so I may as well wait a few minutes longer to make sure you get back to the right place. Right?”
He waited for her to nod, then backed away from the stream.
“Just follow me when you’re ready then.”
She waded out of the water and back onto the shore then he lead her along a winding path. It was a fairly new path, Auri hadn’t walked along preset paths much when she’d lived here on her own, it was only really now that Chane was here following the same routes every day that the paths had began to appear in the forest.
Soon a cave appeared just ahead of them, “Just over there, see it? Let me get my things then you can make yourself comfortable.”

She followed along the thin path, not really taking in much of the scenery as they passed. She trusted that she would be able to find her way back to the water by following this route and listening for the tell tale sounds. If it was really that hard to do then she would do what she always did and just wander along until she did find a water source. It had worked out just fine for her every time before, now would not be any different.
When she saw the cave a tired smile crossed her lips, “Sure.”
She watched as he rooted around in the cave, pulling out a roughly made sack and adding a few things to it before leaving the shelter again. Once he was out proper she went in and collapsed on the soft bed of dry grass. It felt like a patch of heaven and she had to bite her tongue to keep from thanking him again.

“Rest well,” he told her, “And sleep with one eye open. If the walker followed you then you’ll need to get out before it gets in.”
He had spoken with Auri about her friends a few times in the past and he had a general idea in which direction the home of this particular fellow lay. After taking a deep breath, he started off after the angeni.

Aurianna landed near Miro's home and flared her nostrils, searching for the scent of Miroqi. When she found it, she charged forwards, her eyes wide as she also kept her nose out for the scent of 'other', that would tell her the Walker was returning for her friend, and possibly other victims. She was ready to battle to defend her friend.
She spotted the clearing ahead, and recognized the smell of blood and Miro. She arrowed towards it, and saw him as she entered.

Jenu, who had returned to her bear form, had only recently returned to the clearing and settled in amongst the bushes. It didn't seem as though she'd lost anything by going for that drink. The stallion was still there, slowly growing weaker. It was a bit disappointing really. Normally they were at least trying to beg by now. Not a whisper from this one. Barely even a moan of pain. It seemed as though he'd resigned himself to the end all to easily. Bor-ing.
She shifted a bit, resting her head on one paw. Maybe if he didn't start squirming soon she'd go out there with a few twigs and- She lifted her head ears flicking forward. Was someone approaching? Her nose twitched as she sniffed the air, then a slow smile spread across her face. Good. Maybe the appearance of a friend would liven up this slug a bit.
She pulled herself to her feet, then began circling over to the clearing's entrance, keeping to the trees. No doubt they would be focused on the broken form before them. She'd take the opportunity to come out from behind and cut them off.

Aurianna reared, so as to halt faster without hitting Miroqi, skidding to a stop next to him. She slammed her hooves back down besides him and shifted to stand in position to defend him. "I'm here, Miro... Others are coming to help, but I'm here to protect you." She folded her wings back, for the moment, so that she could get a better view of what was going on.
She took several deep breaths, trying to smell the scents in the clearing other then his fear and blood. There was an odd, musky odor and she was pretty sure that was the smell the Walker had left behind. She was somewhat amazed the Walker had left him, but she doubted it was for good. "Did she say anything to you, Miro? Or just attack you...?"

Miroqi winced in terror as he heard the pounding hooves, just as he had when Saskia first appeared. When it turned out to be Aurianna, all he could do was shake in relief. At least he still had some friends, even if it wasn't... Well he couldn't focus on that. "S... she said she'd be back... She wants to eat me..." He barely got out, his voice quiet from his pain, and the blood loss. "Please... I don't want to die..."
