"Well, I happen to be the one who was adopted, per say." He explained, smiling. "I was given to a man by my birth father, who I have no knowledge of. The man that I was given to is the father of my adoptive brothers, the ones that I live with today. They weren't given to my family, I was given to them." He paused, pondering what he just said, before nodding. "But, yes, what you said is correct. An adoptive brother or sister is a sibling from another parent that is either found or taken in from another family that might have died, abandoned their children, or was found to be incapable of caring for them any longer. I was always told that my birth father had very little money when I was born and couldn't afford to care for me, which is why I was given up."

He turned the carving over in his hand, admiring it as well as scanning it, before turning his attention back to Dyakida. Ease his burden further? Hm...
"If you'd like to purchase something, be my guest." He said. "Is there anything else you'd like?"

"Oh. I see..." said Dyakida. Of course, she couldn't, but even metaphorically speaking it was still very strange to her.
"Earthling families must be very..." Convoluted "Complicated..."
It was very bizzare that earthlings would be granted children when they were not ready or able to care for them. She hesitated to say that her kind was superior, but in this respect... She had to agree with the assessment of her sisters. Aisha knew her daughters well, and tended to grant her children to the people that were 'deserving'. Aisha made mistakes sometimes, Dyakida had to admit, but those were rare enough for her not to hear about them often, and they were quickly dealt with.
The other sisters may not be ready for the child, but Aisha was most concerned with the parents.
"I apologize for my rudeness, but it seems like a sad situation." she said, "One that does not come up often for my kind." if at all, but she was willing to give it some credence. Things could happen, mothers could fall on hard times, children could be abandoned by their sisters for being a hybrid. "Not too often, anyway." she amended, "Even children with no parents to claim them are cared for, and not very differently at all." she added.
"Ah yes, If you have any earthling-styled weapons you can part with? I would love to at least inspect them, if you cannot sell them to me..." she thought for a moment, "Spices, too, would be welcome. My sisters, ah, are not the best cooks." Nor was she, but at least she was better than them.

"Complicated is one way to describe it..." He replied, gazing to the side. Chaotic, wonderful, insane, loving... You could toss any of those words into a pot and make a family out of it, espescially if you hailed from Sauti. Everyone was constantly moving, rushing, hunting, you never really had time just to sit and eat together each day. He pursed his lip a little and smiled, he was lucky, wasn't he?

"Earthling weapons?" He repeated, turning to his bags. "I have some small throwing knives, but nothing much else. However, I have a trove of spices in a case... Somewhere in here..." He clicked his tongue against the roof of his mouth and dug into his messenger bag, a relieved expression flashing over his face when he located the box. "Feel free to smell or inspect them, but some of the powders are very spicy, so I'd advise against inhaling those or placing them near your eyes."

Throwing knives were simple enough to make, as were their less throwable dagger counterparts. She didn't feel she needed to inspect them very much - aerodynamics was fairly universal for something so small and simply made. Not easily, mind, but it didn't take very many steps to make them. Not compared to a sword.

"I'll remember that..." she said, a note of chagrin in her voice as she held her hands out to accept the spice box. She sniffed carefully.

Even though her eyes could not see, they could still, unfortunately, hurt. She had learned that when a bit of fruit juice had squirted into her eyes while she had been preparing fruit for her lunch. It was unfair for something so useless to hurt so much.
Maybe I should just sew them up and never be bothered with it again... she thought darkly. She paused, seeming to be contemplating the spices she had just smelled. She was having fun. There was no need for such thoughts. "I assume this..." she set down the spice box, closing it gently, "has somewhere it needs to go?"

"Hm? Oh, the box?" He paused, tapping it idly. Well, three of the jars were in huge demand back in Ast, a town he frequented while in Jauhar. Some were used for ceremonies, while others were simply used for cooking or adding a garnish to a meal. He opened the box again and fiddled around with the jars, just to check which he needed and which he could part with, and smiled.

"I have three jars in there I happen to need to bring to Ast this afternoon, but the the others are more than open for trading." He said. "I've taken out the three I need to keep, feel free to take any of the others."

Dyakida checked to see which jars remained and nodded, searching through her belongings for something worth the trade.

"Ast?" she remarked, "That is a Shifter settlmeent, correct?"

Hmm... She had a large smooth crystal, but she had plans for that. And some charcoal, but that too had a purpose.

Besides, she didn't want to ADD to his load. She took out her purse. She had some small coin on her that she had forgotten to put away after her latest market visit.
"I would imagine that things sold there would fetch a high price in your homeland..." She wasn't sure what one place could provide that the other couldn't, but there had to be some reason why Rastian was so far out of his way. "And vice versa. How much in coin?" she asked, tapping the jars.

Peyla flew in to sniff the jars, curious. She sneezed at the concentrated spices. Too strong! The sprite rubbed her not-very-sensitive nose

"Yes, that's correct." Rastian replied. His attention seemed to be dwindling from the conversation and focusing on the trees around him. The day was getting on and he was far from where he needed to be, he would have to say goodbye to his new trading friend. He sighed, a delivery boy's work was never done.

"You may take them for nothing, I don't need them." He said, handing her the box. "I have three more jars of each at home in Sauti and an extra box, which I can use. Consider this a gift from one trader to another."

Then, he stood, and dusted himself off.
"Unfortunately, I have to leave for Ast before it gets too dark." He sighed. "I do hope to see you again!"

Dyakida accepted the box, surprised and pleased. "Why thank you..." she said, a little flattered and a good bit stunned. She blushed when he mentioned he had to go to Ast.
"Oh." she gathered up her things, including her newly acquired belongings, "Oh! I'm so sorry to have kept you so long!" she said wondering just how long they had sat and traded. How late was it? Should she return home herself? "I should let you get on your way... and..." she smiled genuinely, turning to the direction she thought he was in, "I hope we meet again, as well." she said, inclining her head in a bow.

Peyla frowned as the earthling stood to go. Where was he going? Why was he going?

And then she noticed the light.

Oh! Oh no! She tugged at Dyakida's hand. It was getting dark! They needed to go home before night. Peayla didn't want to be out at night. Scary things were out at night that wanted to eat her!

"For now though.." Dyakida let herself be guided away, "Goodbye..." she waved towards Rastian with her free hand. "Until next time, friend."

And with that, she let herself be taken home.
