Yaholo smiled broadly. Knowing that Dyakida wanted him around made him feel confident and accepted, which were two things he desperately wanted to hold onto. If he felt accepted by everyone, it meant he was loved, which was good! He wanted to be loved, that's all he wanted out of life.
"I could carry larger things for you, if you'd like." He replied. "Nothing is too heavy for me to carry now that I have this hammer to lug around." He tapped it with a chuckle. "This thing ought to bulk me up pretty quick, right?"
Then, he blinked and gazed up into the tree. Hmm, yeah, what had Peyla found? He motioned to the sprite with a smile. "Why don't you show me what you found, Peyla?" He asked. "I can get it down for you, too. Just in case it's too much for you to carry."

What had Peyla found? Peyla had found good things, yes she had! Good things! She fluttered up and pointed to an large abandoned insect shell hanging on the trunk, it's former occupant long off to a bigger shell and other trees. The shell itself wasn't exactly small- it was about half Peyla's size. See? Shiny and useful! She was a good sprite! It was a bit delicate, but the carapace and shining smooth elytra were intact, the sparse sunlight playing off it's iridescence. She tried to remove it herself, but it was attached too strongly to the tree.
She chimed at Yaholo and batted her little sprite eyes coquettishly. He was so big and strong and nice... could he get it for her alkidike?
If Dyakida's ears could perk, they would have. "A Hammer, you say?" she said, unable to disguise her interest, "I would indeed appreciate you carrying some of the larger things, should we find them..." she tried to get back on topic, but... "You wield a hammer..." This was exciting and facinating. She couldn't keep the thoughtful smile from her face. "If you are going up the tree after my sprite, would you mind letting me hang onto it for you? Briefly?" An Earthling weapon! She couldn't believe it! She had wanted to take a 'look' at something like this for a while now.

Yaholo peered curiously towards Peyla and smiled at what she had found. Hm, it was a insect shell, but Dyakida could fashion it into something, he supposed. He nodded towards the sprite and leaned forward to climb into the tree, before pausing to listen to Dyakida's words.
"Yep! This hammer's pretty important to me." He chimed, blinking at her question. Well, she was an Alkidike and was likely strong enough to handle the weight, she could certainly hold it for a moment! He unsheathed it from it's holster and gently tapped it against Dyakida's hands. "Here, you can hold it if you'd like, I don't mind!"

Dyakida fought to hold back an enthusiastic grin as she wrapped her hands around the handle. It was certainly a large hammer, and she carefully tried to lift it. Quite heavy, too. Dyakida kept herself in shape with her staff, and climbed frequently, and often carried heavy burdens. She was no weakling by any means. But she was also not a warrior like her sisters, and the hammer was extremely heavy. The force needed to lift it was quite a lot, and the force needed to wield it properly must be greater still. She hefted it a bit more, managing to get it's head off the ground, at least, bracing herself with her feet against the soft Jahuar ground. This was not a weapon for finesse, this was a weapon for simple, straightforward, use. She tested it slightly, moving it just to see how it balanced. For something that, from her inspection, was essentially a stick, some leather rope, and a heavy object, it was surprisingly carefully balanced. For the best swing, presumably. "It's fascinating. I wish I could watch it in action." she said, her voice neutral but with a definite note of wistfulness to it as she turned it around in her hands. Her muscles grumbled a little- they were not accustomed to the weight and balance of such a weapon. No sister would be. "A weapon says a lot about a person." she said, speaking carefully and thoughtfully, "What do you think your hammer says about you, Yaholo?" it was an honest question.
Peyla had decided, completely, that she liked this man. She crooned encouragement as he climbed the tree.

"My weapon?" Yaholo mused, climbing ever upwards into the tree. He took the shell gently from where it lay and descended the tree, smiling towards Peyla. He gave her a bit of a nod and referenced to the shell, as if to give approval. Then, he turned to Dyakida. "Well, that hammer represents my strength, I suppose. I value all forms of strength in people. Strength of the mind, the body, the soul, all sorts. A hammer requires a good strong swing in order to operate, so, naturally, it would represent whatever is required to master it, which is strength."
Then, he took his hammer back with his free hand and gave her the insect shell that Peyla had found. "This is the shell that Peyla found, it looks very useful." He said.

HER SPECIAL SHELL WAS USEFUL! Peyla was overjoyed and gave Yaholo a spritely hug. HER NEW FRIEND. Not Amadi's HERS."Indeed." she gave it another experimental hefting. "It requires a lot of upper and core body strength to even lift, let alone swing" Strength of body... she had some, but not much. Strength of mind and will, she had. The hammer would never have been her weapon though. "It definitely needs, though, a great deal of resolve to let the swing go through," she said, thoughtfully, "control to keep it on your enemies and away from your friends," she set it down to receive and inspect the insect shell, "And strength again to stop it before it goes too far. A balanced weapon, I think, if you have those qualities." she concluded, inspecting the shell. "Yes, I think this will prove to be useful." it felt hard and smooth. It would be useful... she'd just have to find a use for it. "Anyway, I think it suits you, from what little I know of you, Yaholo. You seem like a very resilient person. It would not suit most other sisters, and certainly..." she smiled, "Not myself."

Yaholo smiled, his posture taking a more relaxed pose. Resilient? Hm, well, he had to be in this world, didn't he? Not everyone liked him, he wasn't a full breed of either race he was born into, and that wasn't widely accepted in any tribe. Most people didn't appreciate a hybrid, no matter where they hailed from. So, being resilient and confident was something that you needed to be able to adopt in a rough environment. It was easier said than done, for sure, but if you didn't know how to do it in a time of need, you would be totally defenseless.
"Thank you, Sister." He said, snuggling Peyla. "I'm glad you see some use in me, not many others have said the same." He paused, tilting his head at the end of her sentence, before smiling. "You may not be able to wield a hammer or fight, Dyakida, but you are very useful to our sisters as well. You create weapons for us to use to defend ourselves, without you we wouldn't be a efficient." Then, he turned towards Peyla, giving he a pat. "And you, Peyla, are just as important. You're Dyakida's eyes, without you, she wouldn't be able to do her job. Keep up the good work!"

Yes! She was very important, with an important job! She was glad he recognized that! Most didn't and tried to swat her away. But not this man! She liked this man. She gave him a spritely kiss on the cheek to prove it, ticking him with her antennae."Hmm! And I'm the blind one..." she murmured, amused to herself. It was funny, in a sad sort of way. Variety was what would make them strong, and mother Aisha had birthed him of her own will, yet her other daughters shunned those that were different, and had chosen different paths. She was fortunate that she was a full blooded alkidike, in a profession that was a generally accepted and necessary hobby for her other more able sisters. "Thank you as well, Yaholo. Not everybody understands that. Elder Yansa gave me her blessing, but some still think me a coward or useless... We shall see how they feel when their weapon is of my craft." she smiled, a flicker of not-so-nice cunning under that expression. "Ah!" she realized, "But you were going to Andile!" to visit his sister and his mother... "I hope I have not kept you overlong!"

Yaholo patted Peyla gently and gave a smile towards Dyakida. Andile? OH YEAH! He had to be there before nightfall, or else no one would let him in! He sighed, laughed, and gave a parting nod to Peyla.
"No worries, but I do need to be on my way!" He said, chuckling. "It was lovely to meet you, Sister Dyakida, and you, too, Peyla! I hope to see you again soon!"

"I would ask to accompany you," said Dyakida, her voice reluctant, "But I told my sisters I would stay closer to home today, and they worry when I stay out late.... she said. She would have loved to continue talking with Yaholo. He was... comforting... in a way that her sisters sometimes were not. It was not just because of the fact that he was successful and clearly powerful, despite what other, harder-headed sisters thought of him. He just had an attitude about him that made him easy to get along with. A not-quite confidence that she appreciated. "So I will have to let you go on to Andile without me." she sighed, "I do hope to see you again, sister." she said, touching his hand briefly.Peyla didn't want to see her friend go either. He was so much fun! But he had to go. Oh well. She knew where Andile was, and she knew she could find him again! He was special! She chimed a farewell, not as unhappy as she expected. She had an important job to do, as he had said, and she would make sure that job crossed his path again. Oh yes.
