yeah, what fd said's what i was trying to go for with that -- sorry for my lousy explanation. it would be really difficult to have the skills be at equal value, but it'd bring an interesting element of customization into things. i dunno. i was kinda just typing, and the whole weapon selection thing was one of my favorite things about fe9.

Ohhhhh. Okay, thanks! Yeah, I really would love to see all of those classes and skills get balanced.

Ohh, the sales. Yes, unfortunately making a cutting edge game that plays and feels good with every element an open minded person would love SOUNDS great at first, but that shuts out the close minded ones that are too busy wrapping their head around how they don't know they're gay.

Not trying to steer this in that direction, though. Fire Emblem is kinda seen as an underdog series of sales, at least by me, as they aren't making Emblem of Duty: Ancient Modern Warfare games every 8 months.

Could you use knives for throwing? Never played too far into the console games.

The whole class building sounds like... Final Fantasy. How at first, the game was Warrior, Black Mage, White Mage, Court Jester that found his way onto the playing field. Then, slowly, but surely ended up being Spellswords that lost all tactical strategy in favor of just smashing the enemy the hardest.

Like playing with 12 Vaikes that have Sol, Lifetaker, Ignis, Conquest, and betchacan'thitmeanyway. And there's a long axe. And if you use it you can hit Grima from 10 chapters away.

Probably a cool idea if done right, but as FD said, might be a little difficult.

Going on the long axe idea, maybe making the Sniper class get a skill that allows for longer distance out of regular bows, just the further you go the less and less accurate it could be?

Totally not related to the actual game play... but it'd be nice if you can customize one of your main characters...aside from the tactician. xd

Yeah.. I read that Fire Emblem Awakening allows you to customize yourself as the tactician. Link

See title. I expy'd the idea from the Forest. Because it's fun to see what people want and compare ideas.

Here's my list:

-better writing and plot
-Fog of War
-canto
-dismounting (but retaining whatever weapon types you'd use)
-Thieves being able to steal again
-route splits! Ideally more than one
-Male Pegasus Knights.
- (playable) Soldier/Halberdier classes.
-PVP in addition to StreetPass
-postgame, for that matter. And preferably one that doesn't require spending more money on
-Rescue requiring more than an E rank would probably be for the best
-Status staves (and some status-inflicting weapons, for that matter)
-some flying class that can use swords
-Anima magic triangle. Kinda happy Light magic is gone. Unless there's a good reason to have someone with Light magic (like Slayer or something), in which case the Light/Dark/Anima traingle would be fine too.
-Class trees that don't require losing weapon types upon promotion. Or losing mounts, for that matter.
-A Dancer that refreshes multiple units again.
-greater variety of magic-based weapons
-if flying units are weak to wind and such, make anyone on a horse weak to fire (horses ARE supposed to be afraid of fire, aren't they?)

GUESS WHO'S BACK?

And wouldn't you know, some of my wishes from years ago came true.

I'm playing Conquest. Obviously (the varied objectives, map designs, and difficulty - classic FE is BACK!). On CH. 12 currently.

'Dat Siege gameplay in CH10 was EXCEPTIONAL. Best new Seige chapter since 2-E from FE10.

All i wish for is longer and more fleshed out games. I don't think the new games are bad, but if they were made more like a journey like the old ones, and something I couldn't beat in two days, with more character development not always shown in supports (character growth shown in actual game events, not always supports)....

I miss the days where every character seemed so important.

Also I really want the army to start separating like they once did, rather than everyone sticking together. Certain groups could leave every once in a. While for their own side missions. Makes things more realistic that way.

I think Radiant Dawn was really the only game to separate, or 'take away' its units temporarily, at least more than 3 at a time, and that was because its cast is huge. FE8 also separates of course, but that only affects certain joining times for a couple characters. And with the Sacae or Ilia choice in FE6, that only affects a couple characters as well. In 10, you're getting the same story no matter what, whereas in 8 and 6, you choose which part of the story you want to play, so I don't think that's what you're talking about exactly.

Other instances in the series that come to my head are Fin in FE4 and Matthew in FE7.

The problem with this idea, of course, is that those units will lose value the longer and more often they aren't present on your team.

When characters show their realisticness and plot-importancy by leaving the group to take care of other business, it actually helps me appreciate them more. Maybe that's just me though. I absolutely loved it, because I just can't stand that whole "here's a huge army of people but we are just here to listen to you mr/ms protagonist so tell us what to do"

I really love the group separating just to show that people have their own lives and missions, and can't always/don't always want to be at the protagonists side.

Even if they don't return?

Out of curiosity, which games have you played? I don't want to spoil things for older games.

I've played like the first chapter of sacred stones, Lyns story in fire emblem 7, all of 9 and 10, and all of awakening and fates (except revelations which I have but haven't played yet because my friend is hogging that game XD)

And yeah I think it's cool even if they don't return. I just like some realisticness. Makes the story feel more real, less forced...
