Manga gently stroked the poor mare, wiping the swear from her own forehead with her free hand. "Take it easy," Manga said softly. "It's all over now..." At least, until the blankets got hungry. But for now, Lacey could rest.

Lacey frowned as she hid the children in a bush not far from her childhood home. They would be fine here, they were young enough not to be spotted, but old enough to stay quiet for the little while that she would be gone. "Shush babies. Momma will be home real soon. I promise. Just stay here and be good." She nudged them one last time, ignoring the tear that fell from her nose. This would be the first time she would have ever left them on their own, and she was worried.

"Need a sitter?" Grimm observed the tearful mare from nearby, spinning his thread. "I won't have another child at home for a bit, so if you need one, I'm available. At least for the moment." Why not? The mare clearly didn't want to leave her children, despite obligations that required her to do so, and he loved children. They were so innocent and full of life...

Lacey jumped and turned, her wings back, neck arched, and her hooves ready to pounce on the intruder. Her eyes turned to slits as she went into default defense mode, in which she remained, even after his words sank in. She'd never seen him before. "Who're you?" She asked, her voice hollow but ringing with threat.

Grimm got to his feet and did a polite bow. "Grimm Fate, at your service. Deal maker and straw spinner by trade," he introduced. Straightening, he asked casually, "Might I get your name as well?"

Lacey lowered her claws, so to speak, but still eyed him skeptically, Deal maker huh? "Iota." She replied. "Why do you want to watch my children? And where did you come from? I did not hear you approach, and I hear everything."

"Nice to meet you, Iota. I was offering to watch your children because I happen to feel sympathetic towards them," he replied. "I'm from a place that can no longer be found on any map and I am a very quiet walker. It's an acquired skill." He saw the obvious edginess and wariness in the mare, so he simply answered her questions in the way he saw fit. Withholding them would just make her suspicious and doom those poor children to being left alone.

Iota eyed him, though something inside her stirred, telling her to give him a chance. Then again... she gave Ruin a chance and look where that got her. "Whats the catch?" She asked warily.

Grimm calmly locked gazes with her, his gentle olive eyes staring into her red ones without a drop of malice. "Make sure you come back at nightfall," he answered. "Children should sleep by their parent's side." Hopefully she'd also come to feed them as well, but he at least didn't want her to disappear and abandon her children. Iota didn't seem like the type, but there was the possibility...

Iota shook her head. What if he took them while she was gone? What if he worked for Ruin? It just wouldn't do.. She couldn't... She looked away, and down at her babies. She couldn't leave them with him, and she couldn't leave them while he was around. She would have to wait to go home. "I can't accept your offer. Too many things could go wrong." She said, eyeing him, though there was weariness to her 'menacing' gaze.

Grimm sighed, but nodded. "Very well, then. Good day." He turned and walked away, uneasy. More things could go wrong if the foals were left unattended...

Lacey watched him leave, settling down next to the foals. She had just fed them so they didn't need to eat, but she was uneasy leaving them with that male around. With anyone around really.. But she needed to. An hour or so later, she tucked them back in and looked around before leaving. She would just be over the hill so nothing could happen, right?
She trotted over to the crest of the hill and looked down at the lands of her birth. She could see Uncle Ro and her mama, and.. a big green male... Delta.. her eyes swam with tears as she watched him move about. He didn't seem hurt.. though even from here she could see the scars all over his body.
She took a deep breath before she began to descend.

Delta saw the descending mare first. His eyes stared at her curiously for a moment or two before he thought to trot over to his mother and inquire about her. He hadn't seen her before--at least not in current memory, so he wasn't sure who she was... Beta lifted her gaze, her eyes widening in surprise. That pattern. That beautiful pattern... She'd know it anywhere. A bright smile lit up her face, a few happy tears gathering at the corners of her eyes as she walked towards her daughter. "Welcome home, Iota," she said warmly when she got close enough to speak without shouting. If Lacey wanted to make a big deal out of coming back, she would've done so already.

Tears danced at the corner of Lacey's eyes as her mother approached with no sign of anger or upset. She sent a silent that you to her Bonded, before she nuzzled her mom. "Mama. I've missed you. I'm sorry I left." She said softly, her eyes closed as she leaned against the mare she hadn't seen in so long.

Beta happily nuzzled her daughter, the happy tears rolling down her face. "I missed you too, sweetie. I'm so glad you're back..." Words couldn't express her joy and immense relief. When she found out that Iota had gone with Ruin and Demoni, she thought she'd never see her precious daughter again... When she'd calmed down a little, she took a step back and smiled at Lacey. "You've missed some things..."
Delta stayed where he was, watching quietly. For his mother to be that happy... was this is sister? Was that Iota?
