Camelot chuckled, nodding his head.
"Maybe you're right, but it's how I feel. I suppose it was because I was a magnet for trouble before I became a knight. Senshi saved my life more times than I can count, and than I care to remember. I was attacked by every kind of youma, by Negaverse soldiers, by everything, really. But there was always a senshi there to help me, and I know that I'm not the only one with that kind of a story."
He sighed and rolled his shoulders back a bit, looking wistful and distant, thinking of what seemed like a long history but, really, it wasn't that long ago in the scheme of things.
"Sometimes it feels like we make no difference, but I know we do. Ah... but I've gotten a little lost and lecture-y, haven't I? I'm sorry," he said, laughing and shaking his head. He looked sheepish, but he always got caught up in talking about the things he believed in.

Persephone smiled faintly. "I'm glad. That, uh, you were rescued, not that you got caught in the crossfire as a civilian, because that's pretty awful."
She kicked her feet a little and shook her head. "It was interesting. And, uh, kinda nice to hear from someone who actually believes in us. In the White Moon. In our cause. I've been talking to too many Chaos people lately, I think, but I'd rather be talking to them than fighting them, so at least that's something!" She said, and then she let out a faint, weak laugh. "Fighting is hard. I got this," she gestured at her uniform, "this...upgrade, or whatever, trying to keep one of my friends, a civilian, from getting eaten by a sabre-toothed bear...thing. I think that's the worst part of this whole mess. I've seen more dead civilians, dead noncombatants, than I have dead senshi or officers. We break every law and custom of war."

Camelot chuckled and nodded his head. He was glad he had been rescued, as well. From the first time a senshi appeared and saved his life from a youma, he had been dedicated to their defense, though his methods and his abilities to help had been limited back then. He had not been powered and had no real way of helping them directly, but he had done what he could, anyway, and he became a firm believer in the cause of the White Moon even before he fully understood it.
That exposure had really helped him come to know his place in the war a lot easier than it might have been for others, coming in blind.
"Talking to Chaos is good, and I believe in purifying them and at least ending the physical war between us if we can. But it's also dangerous, because sometimes, Chaos can be excellent conversationalists as well, and we lose a lot of impressionable people to their promises and their allure. The fact remains, though, that Chaos itself is our enemy, and is a corrupting force. Whatever they say, they are servants to it, and as time passes, they all lose themselves to it." He looked sad again, but quickly shook it off, nodding his head.
"Loss is an unfortunate part of all this, and I'm sorry you've been so exposed to it. Hopefully we'll be able to find a way to better avoid it, I know the White Moon is fighting harder and harder to protect its own and the innocent lives the Negaverse takes, but Chaos will keep spreading if we let it. I know there is a light at the end of the tunnel, so to speak, but I get the feeling that we'll all have to walk through a lot of darkness to get there."
He smiled at her warmly, bowing his head a bit.
"But I will be there, for you, for any of you, if you need me. Knights and Senshi must work together, and I pledge myself to your defense if you need me. Or to talk again, or to patrol, or whatever it is you might need. The library is always open to anyone that needs to come find me."

Persephone nodded. It was nice to hear someone who had been fighting for years and still had so much faith. For the moment, for the evening, it soothed her own doubts, at least a little.
"I'd like to see that. I'd like to see us save them all, and then take care of the source of Chaos itself, and win this war without a ton of needless death." Her tone was definitely wistful. She would love to see a world without this war, at least, even if there were sure to be others, other threats, other dangers.
She stood up, brushing off her skirt and offering the Knight a smile. "I'll stop by sometime," she promised, and then she curtsied a little. "It's been really wonderful talking to you, thank you so much!"
It felt nice to not doubt herself, or her cause, even if it were only for a few hours.Lithia_Brandon Just about fin, I think~ Thank you!
