'Izefiah, your father speaks the truth.' she said, almost adding "for once", but didn't. She continued talking to the stallion, trying to get his attention.
'My name is Elisheva, Nalani is my sister as he says.' she paused, working out what to say.
'She managed to confide to me about what had happened, and so I set off to seek you out, to find out the truth. I found your father first, and he...well, I think it best he explain exactly why Nalani was so upset and left you that day.'

Izefiah's head turned back around slowly, a guarded look on his face. Auster bit his lip, stubborn until the very end. He did not want to admit this to his son. It would be the final straw, he knew. He would lose Izefiah forever.
But he also knew he had to. Drawing himself up straight and proud, if somewhat miserable looking, Auster looked down at his son and he told him the truth.
"I lied to that girl. Nalani? I did not chase her away by telling her that she was not good enough for you. I knew that would not be enough." He paused, just for a moment. "I only wanted for you to come home. I did not realize how deeply enamoured you were with the girl. I told her that you were already betrothed to another."
"I am sorry, Izefiah. Truly, I am. If I had known what it would do to you, I would never have said such a thing."
Izefiah stared at his father, flabbergasted. "You did what?" He got to his feet, as quickly as he was able on his shaky limbs and glared up at Auster, furious. Perhaps even more furious than he had been the last time he had a row with Auster. "How could you tell her such a terrible lie! I was happy! She made me happy, why is that not good enough for you? It's good enough for everyone else's parents!"

Elisheva wished wholeheartedly that she was not a part of this. Yes, Izefiah's father deserved his son's anger, and the truth had to come out. There had to be honesty to move on. It was painful to watch though, and a stark reminder that not everyone had the family she had, with loving and supportive parents.
She supposed she would have to interject, otherwise there was no telling how long they would row for over the matter.
'Izefiah.' she said softly, taking a step forwards.
'It was a terrible lie, and it hurt both you and my sister. But it can be fixed. Your father has told me that he will accept Nalani as your mate. And she's the most important thing to me, so I won't let this go on whilst she is back at home unaware that you are not already betrothed.'

When Elisheva spoke, Izefiah tore his furious gaze away from his father and turned to look at her. Her words seemed to have somewhat of a calming affect on him, and he nodded. "You are right," he said, referring to the part about Nalani of course. He didn't give a damn about his father right then.
"I will come with you and fix this wrong. I love your sister, and it kills me to think that she is in pain. Especially pain caused by my so-called family." He refused to look back at Auster again.
"Let's go. I will have to walk, but I know the way."
"Izefiah..." Auster wanted to make one last desperate attempt to sooth the damage done to his relationship with his son, but he was afraid there was no use. "You are far too weak. You should eat and rest or you will not mak the journey..."

Elisheva gave Izefiah a warm smile. 'I am fairly sure she feels the same way. I know she misses you.' she sighed and shook her head.
'Well, we should get going.' she nodded at him as he said he would need to walk. 'I have not the energy to fly again yet, so that suits me fine. Better to get there in one piece and slow, then hurry and regret it.'
She trotted forwards and then turned to take a last look at Izefiah's father. She could tell that he wasn't irredeemable, and did care for his son. If she knew Nalani as well as she thought she did, she felt sure that her sister would forgive Izefiah's father and attempt to have him do the same. She turned again and led the way, taking an easy pace as she took Izefiah back to her home.
