Yoru Kurosawa Foam-Dome It'd be awesome if they could balance out the Steel type, too. That ******** has way too many resistances. D; High, this violet scent... Yes, but it isn't effective against crap, and one good fighting move? OH, DEAD. One good fire move? OOOOH, DEAD. Steel is pretty useless...
I'm floating on air... Granting 11 resistances and 1 immunity generally isn't the definition of "useless." Giving a Pokémon a Steel typing automatically makes it a prime candidate for switching into a resisted move and forcing a switch.

It is when half of those resistances are against moves that one wouldn't use anyway. And an immunity to poison? Whoopie... poison-type is about as useless as bug.
I find one steel-type Pokemon useful: Lucario. The only thing Steel does for him is mitigate his weaknesses to Flying and Psychic attacks. But I never have him out for Flying or Psychic type pokemon anyway, so the Steel type attached to him really doesn't do much.

I'm floating on air... Metagross is OU. Steel weakens dark, psychic weakens fighting, steel type lends itself to earthquake which tramples fire types, and the only remaining weakness is ground which is an easy bait move. Ferrothorn enjoys the resistance to flying types and immunity to poison. Try to take your rock type moves to a Skarmory, it will outtank you, and the amusing thing is that you can switch him in while switching Metagross out against a ground type. Scizor sweeps all yo teams with bullet punch'n swords dance. And one must not underestimate the ability to ignore toxic stalling tactics. Oh, and there aren't many things that can stand up to the awesomeness that is Aggron. Aggron goin' head smash yo' pansy a**.

I'm floating on air... You're not very familiar with competitive battling, are you? Being immune to Toxic and Toxic Spikes is a lot more important than you think. It sounds like you're underthinking this. One of the reasons why Lucario is such an effective sweeper is because its Steel typing grants it so many resistances. It can easily switch into a Dark/Normal/Dragon/whatever move, set up a Swords Dance or a Nasty Plot, and wreak havoc.

High, this violet scent... *shrugs* You guys have your opinions and experiences, and I have mine. Mine dictate that steel is useless, and as such, I will never use it, and I have yet to be beaten by a steel-type. To me, there are much more useful types than steel.
And Foamy, just so you know, I never had Lucario out against something that steel protected it from, because Lucario was not my creature of choice versus those types.
EDIT: When a steel type manages to stymie me, I will concede that the type has its merits. Until then, I have seen far too many steel types get torn into little pieces in a very short amount of time to believe it is anything other than a liability.
SECOND EDIT: Realized I forgot to deal with Divine's Aggron. That Aggron has a double weakness to both fighting and ground. Any fighting or ground move worth its salt will murder it.

Err... As much as I hate to jump into this, I have one point to put in. I agree with everyone so far, yes, steel is *somewhat* useless, although it's good to have, I wouldn't *need* it... but Lucario, well, I don't use ALOT, but I did take the time to get him, because he's definitely worth it.
I use gardevoir the most, considering it has magical leaf (my favorite move) and its a psychic type biggrin
...Another thing. The weakness between fighting and steel makes no sense. Imagine punching a steel wall or something... If anything, it should be reversed C:
EDIT: Okay why did I say steel wall. Imagine a steel bar or something, I guess.

SSB and KH3 made me tear up a little inside. SSB especially because of the Villager and Wii Fit Lady. I'm just saying though, my favorite thing about E3 was the whole Xbox One/PS4 rivalry. Best thing ever. So many beautiful gifs. I don't even consider myself a gamer and it was ridiculously entertaining.
