Oulixes gave pause when the woman called out again, finding himself wanting to just ignore her and he on his way, he'd done his part, the child was back home safe with his mother, he was going to bury the father, what more did she want? Her next works though piqued his interest enough to actually cause him to turn and look her way. Swords, she'd said... were there swords back there? He couldn't say that he was really looking for swords then, he'd been so caught up in trying to deal with the youngling, he hadn't really bothered to see if there was anything left that those who had raided the place might have left behind. Now though he was cursing himself for not bothering to look. His amber eyes slid over to the boy when he mentioned that the swords were back there, that 'they' didn't take them, and his interest on grew that much more. Did he have it in him to go and steal them? Likely not, as cruddy of an individual as he was he doubted that even he could steal the swords off a dead man, a good and worthwhile one at that.
When the woman was suddenly asking another favor of him, something that nearly had him sighing, he gave a nod of his head, "I don't see why not." He muttered, why not, right? He was already up to his neck in this particular issue, if the woman needed more help he supposed that he could help, right? He just hoped that whatever it was that she was going to ask for wouldn't be too horribly complicated. Vengeance for example, given he had no idea who had been behind the attack avenging the fallen man would be rather difficult... especially given he was unarmed and knew nothing about Jauhar passed what he'd learned from a few people close to him. He could only hope that it wasn't what she wasn't going to ask of him... a moment later he found himself openly starring at her. She wanted... she wanted him to take the swords with him? What a strange request, was it perhaps her version of a reward for what he had done and would be doing here on out? Strange... but he supposed if people like her and Micah were wanting to give things to him then he would accept, how else was he supposed to survive in such a harsh world after all.
After a moment of thought he finally nodded his head, "I will make sure they are put to good use." He said, turning away once more, walking away from the pair. He took in a deep breath and hurried back the way that he came, not wanting to stick around any longer. The woman was acting too kindly toward him and it was something that he didn't know how to react to. Chal and his family, Natsu and his brother, Yaholo, Tahigwa, he didn't understand even one of them and why they were being so nice to him. It was just... well... uncomfortable, he knew what kind of person he was, that he wasn't worthy of their affections, and yet they were always trying to be nice. It was just something he didn't get, why would they be so kind to someone like him? If even his own father knew him to be filth then what were they missing? It was a thought he shook off as he made his way back to where this had all began.
Even before he got there the smell of the area came to him, it was the scent of sulfur though that caught his attention the most, meaning that he might have gotten back quickly enough to get the digging underway. How exactly he was going to do that, that would be the question he thought to himself, looking from side to side, searching for something that would be useful as a digging tool. The best he was able to find was a thick stick, one that would be a fairly decent walking stick, were it not for the broken off end. He scooped said stick up, looked it over, then nodded, "This should work." He murmured, deciding that the sharp, broken off edge would work well enough for digging in the soft soil of Jauhar. He'd get the hole underway, bury the man, take the swords, and be on his way. He found himself wonder what he should do next, where he should go next, likely return to where Chal's family stayed. If he didn't he had a feeling they would all go out looking for him, something that would make his life more then a little complicated. Best that he say goodbye if he was leaving for good... though he wasn't sure if he was doing that quite yet.

Oulixes had just picked up the makeshift shovel he was preparing to use to complete the deed, when a strange noise started up in the forest. It seemed that the normal sounds of Jauhar had stopped, hushed by the whispering coming from the forest. The whispers were a hum, a small noise that couldn't seem to be pinned to any one location.
It pulled itself from one area and into another without any notice, creating a whirl of unseen motion in the depths of the forest.
The noise seemed to be getting louder and focused itself in one direction behind Oulixes.

Oulixes gave pause as he moved toward where he'd left the fallen man's body, tilting his head to one side, hearing an odd sort of... humming sound. It was distance at first, muffled by the sounds of the forest and the life living in it. A confused look appeared on his face as he heard the sound seeming to flicker from place to place to place around him, trying to figure out what it was and where it was coming from. With little luck though, it seemed to be moving at a rather fast pace, one that was too quick for him to follow all that well. The sound wasn't making it all too easy to figure out where it was going to pop up next... that was until all of whatever it was seemed to gather behind him.
Oulixes gritted his teeth, tightened his hand on the stick he was carrying, before he whirled around and took a swing at... whatever it was that was sneaking up behind him. It wasn't a decent weapon, wasn't even a decide shovel, but he hoped that it would work on the humming... thing.

There was a hiss, a large shape leaping back and out of the way of the branch being swung in its direction. It revealed however that it was humanoid in shape, a long cloak draping along its body and a hood drawn up to obscure most of its features. However..there was one thing that it couldn't hide and it was that mandibles were sticking out from the folds of the hood, and in its hand if you could call that clawed thing a hand was the disembodied hand that ..had once belonged to the corpse on the ground.
The creature was a moments pause as if it was sizing the mix breed in front of it, then it started to circle him the clicking sounds resumed, the origin now revealed as it belong to the creature. The pitch had started out low and slow then picked up pace as it raised its free hand and summoned a massive ball of fire and flung it in the boy's direction.

It was strange that, when met with someone that wanted to kill him, that Oulixes felt more comfortable. He was so used to people hating him, swinging at him, leaving him beaten to a pulp and in pain, it didn't really phase him. He threw himself into a sideways roll before he starred up at the ugly, bug like creature, wondering for a moment if the thing was like... the male equivalent of the Alkidike. Maybe that was why they claimed to be an all female race, because their men were butt ugly he thought to himself as he tightened his hold on the broken off stick that he was holding and pointed at the strange... thing, "Do you think that you are the first person to try to kill me? Look at me you idiot!" He spat out, finding it rather frustrating. He'd come this far and no some weirdo was trying to kill him too? He wouldn't be surprised if his father had sent the guy.
Taking a few rushing steps forward he took another swing, aiming for the creature's knees, knowing full well that the best way to drop someone was to go for that particular body part. If he was able to land a hit, especially with the force that he was putting behind the blow, it should knock the the guy down... and when he did, well he would just have to finish the job was all. As much as he hated the idea of having to kill someone just because his father had sent them it was him or the bug mage and he would be damned if he let this freak kill him. Not to mention that he was holding onto something that he wanted back. If he was going to do as he promised he would, that being burying that kid's father, he needed all of him.

The man bug creature only seemed to click the mandibles that were near his mouth in reply, wither or not it could speak their language it was yet to be determined. All that could be determined was that it acted and looked like no other humanoid that lived through out Tendaji. As the hybrid got closer the smell of cinders became stronger, it was a strange scent as if the creature had rolled around in charcoal before coming back to this encounter.
It went to move out of Oulixes way but managed only to half step before having its right knee knocked out from under it. Collapsing heavily onto the left it gave a strange hissing shriek as it tried to rake the man with its pointed claw like fingers. It seemed unwilling to just give up its prize as the hand was brought closer to its body as if trying to protect it.

The strange scent, not to mention the look of the soot stains, had Oulixes starring at the bug creature. Had it... been rolling about in the ashes? What in the world was wrong with it? Or was it just proud of the fact that it had been toying around with the body of that guy? It wanted to roll in the ashes, display the fact that the hand it held belonged to the guy. It was a little disgusting, the guy was already dead, the bug creature should leave him alone he thought to himself crossly. What was it with strong people always needing to flaunt their strength by being nothing but a bunch of asses? It must just come with the territory.
Advancing on the bug like creature he gave a hissing sound as the claws dug into his leg, leaving behind new wounds that would become new scars. His golden eyes flickered down for a moment, taking in the bloody wounds, before his eyes were back on the bug, "Thanks... just wanted I needed, a few more scars..." Not as though he wasn't already ugly enough he thought to himself before he drew back, taking another swing, this time aiming for the bug creature's shoulder, hoping that if he hit the strange being hard enough that he might drop the hand, "If you just give that back I won't beat you senseless!" Or at least not anymore then he already had by the time the creature finally gave up the pilfered hand. This was what his life had become he thought to himself, trying to retrieve stolen body parts from a weird looking bug man, and somehow he wasn't as phased as he should be. Somehow he was sure all the blows to the head he'd received were probably a big factor in that particular problem of his.

The creature only responded to the boy's threat but looking more hostile than it already was. It gave a loud click of its mandibles before that strange sound started to come out of its mouth? It was about to react when the blow to the shoulder seemed to send it crashing to the ground. Though it didn't release the hand entirely its grip has loosened and it lay stunned on the forest floor.
A good time as any to either finish the job or take the hand away from it, before it decided it wasn't done and tried to get back up. It gave a weird sound that sounded almost like moaning and upon closer inspection it looked like Oulixes had managed to dislocate its shoulder, its right hand laying rather limp on the ground. Unfortunately it wasn't the arm holding the disembodied hand.

Oulixes starred down at the stunned creature, lifting his stick for a moment, hesitated, then lowered it down. He couldn't really continue, could he? Were he to hit a man when he was down how would he be any different from his p***k of a father? The very last thing that he wanted was to be associated with that guy he thought to himself as he took a step forward, starring down at the moaning mage, before he squatted down to retrieve the hand that the strange bug man had stolen from the one he was supposed to be burying.
"Just bad luck on your part, I told someone I would bury him and I am not a liar." He told the guy, was it any other hand he wondered if he would even have cared. He couldn't really say, if he weren't already caught up in things would he have bothered? It was possible that he wouldn't have, it wouldn't have been any of his business after all. Scooping up the hand, something that had to be the weirdest thing he'd ever done, he looked down at the guy, "You know you really shouldn't go around stealing hands, it's really creepy." He told the bug mage, feeling a touch guilty for leaving the guy in such a state but... maybe with his arm like that he would be unable to continue the battle? He hoped that the creature would just go home to... well, wherever it was that he lived. Oulixes just wanted to get the guy buried, get the swords that were promised to him, and then... well... he really couldn't say he had any idea what to do after that. Practice with the swords he supposed given what he wanted to do with them.
The halfbreed gave the fallen bug mage one last glance, "You should go home." He told him before he headed onward toward where he hoped the rest of the body would still be. He hoped that the guy had only had time to steal the hand while Oulixes was off babysitting.

The bug mage uttered one long, belligerent hiss before gathering itself together; it looked to the hybrid as if trying to calculate its means of winning and, coming to a conclusion that it wasn't in its favor, almost scuttled away as quickly as it had come. It vanished back into the forest, the hand wasn't so important as to continue being injured; though perhaps it would remember this day when it was spared its life.
The man the hand belonged to seemed to lay right where Oulixes had left it, the rest of him intact and waiting. Oulixes could now finish what he had started and lay this man permanently to rest, a great peace of mind for the woman and child that he had left earlier. The swords that were promised to him lay gleaming in the sand near the dead man's side; they were Oulixes' now.
And with them would come the title of Swordsman.
