Jezabelle smiled and something gave a slight twing in his chest. He missed that, he missed gentle looks between himself and another, and for a moment he could neither speak nor move. He wondered, no he was sure that it would be a brighter smile once he could see her eyes, and he shook himself from his thoughts so that he could lead the mare to somewhere she would be comfortable.
He listened as she spoke, realising that they had more in common than just having had children. 'I know how you feel.' Wisp said softly.
'I know, everyone says that I am sure but..well, I am no longer with the mare who I once thought would be the one I grew old with and who is the mother of my children. So I really do know. It's hard, and you kind of want to hide from the world but..you make yourself get on. Or your children do.' he said with a faint chuckle.
He shook his head at first, and then realising that gave nothing away, spoke instead. 'No, not uncomfortable at all. There's nothing you've done to make me so, and therefore I have no hesitations in leading you to wherever would be more comfortable for you. So when you're ready, I'm going to step forwards.'
He did so, his tail dragging through the grass behind him as he went, and for a lack of anything immediately pertinent to say, just described the surroundings as they slowly walked.

Her mouth made a small 'oh' as she listened to Wisp talk. Perhaps it was strange to reveal such personal information upon first meeting but he was surprisingly easy to talk to, and she wanted him to understand that her strange sadness at times had nothing to do with him.
She nodded in agreement, "For a while I thought I could just let go of the world and spend my days with family, but It got rather... stressful after a while." She chuckled good naturedly, "My family is a bit unconventional to say the least, and our home life has been known to get hectic." She smiled at the memories, "So I decided to broaden my horizons a bit. I suppose life goes on whether we want it to or not."
His willingness to trust so easily warmed her heart, although a nagging voice wondered if he would feel the same once he saw the blazing red of her eyes. Many found that the most telltale sign of the darkness concealed within her pristine frame. It was no longer necessary for her to kill to feed, but she had done so in the past. Would not hesitate to do so again if her life or her family's lives were threatened. Wisp was so kind, he belonged to the light, to sun and birds and flowers. She to the moon, shadows, and cold starlight. Could he ever truly be comfortable befriending one with her checkered past, with her dark nature? Belle supposed she would simply have to find out.
She listened to the comforting sound of his voice as he described the landscape to her, childhood memories lending color and depth to the vivid pictures he painted in her head. She wished she could see the world bathed in sunlight once more. They walked for quite some time and the mare began to wonder where they were headed, her aching legs protesting at this unfamiliar use.
Although she felt comfortable with the silence between them, she began to worry that she was being a less than entertaining companion. She was used to spending a lot of time on her own, with her family the topics tended to range around the other members, blood, and the hunt. None of which were likely to be appropriate in this circumstance. "Are you from around here?" She finally managed, genuinely interested in his response but feeling awkward about her rusty social skills.

'Well, one of my children made me a grandfather not too long ago.' Wisp said with a faint chuckle.
'I'll ask you when you get to see me, but I don't think I look old enough to be a Grandpops yet.' he said.
'So yes, life goes on, even if you feel like you're outside it. I suppose it's best to put yourself back in the middle of everything the soonest you feel up to it, or you might find you've missed too much. It's hard though. It felt like I'd lost a part of myself..' his voice trailed away.
'Forgive me. I didn't mean to reveal so much, it's just. Well, everyone says they know how you feel, but it's easier talking to someone who has been through the same thing. It's different for everyone I suppose, circumstances and reasons..but well. It's good to know you're not alone, you know?' he fanned his wings open and shut, falling silent for a moment but then remembered that he needed to keep talking for Jezabelle's sake.
'Mmm, yes, my family likes the open meadows. But really, it's where ever my heart is. I've been spending time with my son and his new family lately. Did you travel far to get here?' he asked, and then fell to humming a little until she spoke again so that could keep following him. He checked where they they were and slightly adjusted his path, noting that the trees were becoming more clustered as he neared the forest edges.

The thought of potential grandmother-dom made the mares eyes widen in something close to horror. It wasn't that she wouldn't welcome new additions to her growing family, rather that the thought of her children having children of their own was such a bizarre thought she could scarcely imagine it. She still expected to see little faces looking up at her whenever she visited with her daughters or her son, it would take some time to get used to thinking of them as adults out on their own. Falling in love and making mistakes.
She chuckled, "I'm sure you don't" she reassured him, amusement charging her melodic voice.
"And I know what you mean, Its a bit wearing having people trying to be sympathetic about the entire situation."
She shrugged, "Not too far, my family makes their home in the mountains and surrounding forests for the most part. I'm no more than a day's travel from our lands. I just needed a change of scenery, I stayed in one place for a long time for the foals' sakes."
She felt the branches begin to dapple her back and flanks and looked foreword to being able to remove her blindfold and finally see her companion with her own eyes. CitrusCupcake Just trying to restart my muse a bit if possible, no pressure to reply, I know things have been crazy lately

'Well, that's nice of you to say, but I might have faint forehead wrinkles at the very least..no grey hairs though.' Wisp said, swishing his mane from his legs as they walked.
'I don't know, I can handle the sympathy, I just don't want that to be the defination of me, that I loved, and I lost and that everyone has to be sparing of my feelings all the time.'
Wisp made a small change in his direction again, making sure to say as he did so, and finally they were in the outskirts of a large wooded area. He blinked as his eyes adjusted to the change in light, it wasn't complete darkness, but a shadowy and greenish gloom that was occasionally punctuated by the occasional ray of light that managed to filter down through the thick, leafy canopy above.
'Well..I think this could shaded enough?' he said, stating and questioning at the same time, slowing to a halt and turning to face the blindfolded mare. Faithofthefallen This might be a crap reply but I have to wake my muse up somehow, so apologies if it sucks XD;

Belle smiled shyly, sincerely doubting his assertion, "Well considering I have a whole mane and tail of white hairs, I think I have you fairly well beat." A warm cascade of laughter escaped her lips.
She followed his gentle and patient directions until she was bathed in the cool shadows, a shiver ran up her flanks at the sudden temperature change but it would be a relief to be able to see again. "It feels like it." She agreed, tilting her head foreword, she shook it a few times to loosen the loose knot of silk around her head and then leaned down, allowing the length of cloth to flutter to the ground. She blinked a few times, not so much to adjust to the light, as to become used to processing her surroundings with her eyes once more. Suddenly shy, she peered intensely at the golden hooves before her, her gaze slowly traveling up, up, and up until she reached his face, and then back down. She peered up at him demurely from beneath her long eyelashes and laughed a bit nervously. "Definitely no forehead wrinkles," She assured him in an amused voice.
"Thank you for helping me." She murmured with a warm smile, "The blindfold is certainly better than the alternative, but it becomes unnerving after a time, not being able to see whats around you, or who you're talking to." She gave him an arch look, "For all I knew, you could have been a skinwalker intent on having me for lunch!" She wrinkled her nose, "Of course, you didn't smell like a skinwalker, so I was reasonably sure that it was safe to follow you." She winked at him with a wry little twist of her mouth.

'Oh but yours is a natural fall of beautiful silver hair. Like a moonlit waterfall..' Wisp enthused, his wings giving a little flutter as he did so. He realised immediately that possibly that was a very forward and slightly flirtatious thing to say, his tail swishing as his face coloured a tad.
Of course the revealing of Belle's eyes didn't help matters; he watched quietly as she slowly unwrapped the cloth and a smile spread across his face as he saw the fullness of her face, her eyes alight even in the shade.
'Wow..uhh..' he stammered, feeling off kilter, as though he was a green stallion just grown and meeting a pretty mare for the first time.
'Forgive me, your eyes are enchanting. Well worth the short trip to this wood.'
He nodded. 'I can only imagine how difficult it would be to go around blindfold, and yes as you say, you can't really know for sure, at some point you just have to trust. I'm glad you were able to do so with me.'

She blushed, unsure how to respond to such blatant compliments "Thats flattery," she accused him with false pique, although the amused sparkle in her eyes betrayed that her heart was not in the scolding.
"But thank you," She amended awkwardly, her eyes had never spurred that response, fear was much more common. So many associated red eyes with evil, her eyes simply had colorless irises, the lack of pigment in her eyes was what resulted in the horrible photo sensitivity that had confined her to a world of darkness. Well, that and the cravings, but she was experienced at controlling them with small meals throughout the day rather than alternating between periods of gluttony and starvation. The paralyzing toxin she coated her blades with allowed her to keep an animal still and unaware long enough to drink a small amount of its blood before releasing it once more. She no longer had to kill to survive, which made it easier to face non flesh eaters, she had wrestled with a lingering guilt for a long time, despite knowing she did only what she must, killing was not really in her nature.
She smiled, "Its not easy, generally I don't stray too far from home so I can find my way around easily enough, even without my sight. Today was an experiment of sorts, but I'm glad you proved worthy of my trust." She picked the blindfold up and slipped it back into her saddlebag with only minor difficulty, "But if I want to enjoy the sunlight, I have to bind my eyes, its nice for a change. The night has its own beauty that I will always cherish but we always seem to be drawn to what we can't have." She chuckled, "And I can be a fickle creature at times, but at least this way I can have some of both."

'It is, and well deserved.' Wisp replied, pleased that he could see her full expression as she spoke to him. Well, as much as the shade they were standing in allowed.
Wisp had no such qualms about her eyes, red might well be a warning colour in nature, but he had gotten to know her before he had even seen the hue of her eyes and he only saw that they were the jewels that made her whole expression come to life.
He realised his thoughts were slipping into a pattern, a familiar one. It caused him a little consternation, he worried that he was simply responding to the fact that she was easy to talk to and had been through the same loss he had. He did like the mare though, and decided to try not to overthink things.
'You are a brave mare.' he said with feeling, trying to imagine how he would cope if one of his senses was tempered by the light of the sun. He found he couldn't imagine it, though at times after his relationship had ended he was sure he had lost much of his love for life. That had only dulled his senses for a while and he realised it wasn't the same.
'I don't see the night very often, dark finds me curled up in a large flower usually.' he said with a small chuckle. Faithofthefallen Sorry for the delay, muse is still being a flake >_o

Belle laughed self consciously, sensing the sincerity in his words and feeling undeserving of such praise. "I don't know that I would call it brave, but I thank you. We all simply do as we must to survive. Truly, it isn't as bad as it may sound. My photo sensitivity wasn't as wearing when I was a foal, I think if I had always been this way and had never experienced daylight I wouldn't even notice, wouldn't know I was missing anything." She smiled and leaned in to butt him gently with her head, "I would have missed meeting a very kind person had that been the case. Our struggles make us who we are as much as everything else, I wouldn't change who I am, I just needed a way to find a bit more flexibility." Belle shrugged a little, feeling a tad embarrassed at having made a speech and looked around. She was unfamiliar with this area but she was close enough that she was sure she could find her way back home once darkness had settled over the lands.
Jezabelle wondered what it would be like to sleep every night away in much the same way as Wisp couldn't imagine not being awake with the sun. She had spoken true that she had emerged during the daylight when she was much younger but that was so long ago and even then it had felt a bit unnatural. Her entire family was nocturnal and most took shelter from the sun in the same way she did, if not for the same reasons. "Perhaps I can show you some of my world one of these nights. There are many beautiful sights in our herd lands."
She couldn't help but smile at the mental image of Wisp curling up in a flower to sleep. Although she knew cognitively that he could shrink, staring up at the stallion before her it was hard to imagine him shrinking to a small enough size. Her eyes lingered on the strong lines of his jaw and the smooth fall of his long hair. Something stirred within her dead heart making it hammer uncomfortably, with some mental effort she squashed it. Friendship didn't leave you vulnerable to the kind of hurt she had experienced, she could never open herself to that kind of pain again, the benefits simply weren't worth the risk. She realized her expression must have betrayed some of her unhappy thoughts and shook her head, blowing out a long breath and averted her gaze, turning to admire their surroundings once more instead of meeting Wisp's blue eyes.

'But you are brave. And you won't convince me that journeying out in the daylight blindfolded isn't anything but.' Wisp felt a little shiver as she bumped against him, of what he wasn't sure, just of the familiar and yet unfamiliar touch of a lovely mare.
'Well you flatter me..' he started to say and then chuckled. 'I guess you mean me of course.' he said, fluttering his wings as he laughed, and then fell quiet, as she had done so and was now looking around. He wondered how she saw her surroundings, did he look different to her eyes from what he thought he looked through his own?
He was relieved when she did speak again and he smiled, nodded, his long mane moving as he did so. 'I would be pleased to do so. Though you may have to point out anything I might miss with my daylight eyes.'
And then she fell quiet again. He took the time to watch her again, finding fresh beauty to wonder over, she seemed to smile to herself and it lit her from within...but then she seemed to cloud over and turned away from him.
'Jezabelle. Are you alright?' he asked, the concern evident in his voice. He was sure he hadn't said anything wrong - had he? He thought back over the last few minutes, but couldn't work out where he might have mispoken.

Jezabelle pushed the sadness away to a small corner of her mind, "Just... gripped by a memory." She sighed, "sometimes sadness defies all attempts to banish it, I have plenty to be happy and grateful for, yet the one thing that saddens me out of all that goodness still creeps to the surface at times. I try not to dwell on it. Lingering over unhappy thoughts only invites more after all, and that is simply not how I want to live my life."
Belle smiled and shrugged a bit self consciously, "If you say so..." she replied dubiously, "I rely on more senses than just my sight though, it is helpful certainly, but even though your eyes adjust to the darkness, you still can't rely solely on your sight to experience the world around you." Her expression turned serious, "There are beautiful but also terrible things that thrive in the darkness, you can't always see the bad things before its too late, you have to listen to your other instincts as well."
She gazed up at into his 'daylight eyes,' the kindness in them warmed her inside, "It will probably feel like you are the one wearing the blindfold for a while." she admitted. Belle wasn't aware of the cautious hope shining in her eyes, "But if you wanted to see it, I could guide you where it is safe."

Wisp was gladdened that her change in mood hadn't been due to anything he had done, but that was replaced with sympathy and empathy, for he too knew that memories, especially the sadder ones had the tendency to spring forth unbidden.
'True, but as you say, sometimes you just cannot help it. No matter how much you try. Time helps though, the more time passes, the less the painful memory stings. But still, occasional bouts of melancholy strikes.'
Wisp nodded. 'I do say so. Of course, even I, in the daylight hours do use more than my eyes. Ears as well if I'm not losing myself in a large flowers pollen and nectar.' the stallion chuckled.
'I trust you. I would like to see the world that you see. Even though I know I won't experience it in the same way as you. But..' he said, smiling warmly again. 'I'd like to see you in your own environment, moving around with need of a guide.'

"I look foreword to that time," Belle replied with feeling. She shook her head a little in wonder, "I can't imagine being able to shrink, it must be amazing."
She glanced over her shoulder regretfully at the faint sunlight between the trees, wincing and squinting her eyes. "If you meet me back here two nights from now, I would love to show you some of my world. I should return to my herdlands tonight, my family will be worried at how long I've been absent, but once I've reassured them, I could return..."
She hated to leave Wisp, but she had been awake for a night and a day now. Jexabelle needed rest more than anything now, she would find a safe place to sleep until evening, when she could travel with impunity back to her grandfather's territory. She watched him with wary hope. She couldn't help but wonder that he would trust her despite knowing the truth of her cravings, not even Laertes had been able to look past it, even after she gave him their three children. He was too honorable, too pure of nature to look past what was to him a violation of his morals. Her bloodlust was something evil to him, even though she no longer needed to kill. He was the rabbit to her wolf and it frightened him. She didn't want Wisp to fear her.

"It's..well, I don't know if I personally feel that it's amazing, it's just something I've always been able to do. I guess that I can see that it would be to an outside observer." Wisp chuckled.
"Okay." he replied quickly to the suggestion of meeting again and a date to do so. There could be no pause in assenting to seeing her again as he wanted her to feel that he welcomed her company.
"Would you." he began, hoping that he wouldn't seem forward for suggesting this. "Would you want my company until the sun went down and you can travel on your own?"
