Jacinthus glanced over at Nyiim for a moment, then back to the thing he was building before he gave a slow nod of his head, "Alright, so long as he keeps an eye out it should be alright for us both to drag it." He hated to take his hands off of his weapon when they were dragging this much meat behind them but at the same time he didn't want to leave Nyiim with all of the heavy work, "We will just have to get moving soon." He told his fellow tribesman, then smiled when it seemed as though the strange device that he was building was finished up and dropped next to him. He gave it a once over before moving toward the furthest away of the aldabuk, grabbing hold of it, carrying it over, and tossed it onto Nyiim's creation first, then moved to fetch another of them.
"I don't mind showing you how to go about the task of cleaning and butchering them, an extra pair of hands with that particular task would be more then welcome." He told him, pausing as he reached toward the second of the aldabuk when Nyiim mentioned losing his father before he was old enough to go hunting with him. His hand tightened for a moment into a fist before he forced himself to relax, picking up the second aldabuk, "I know that feeling all too well, I was left with my little sister to take care of after a monster took our parents from us when we were very young. We had to learn everything through trial and error, if I can save you from that by giving you a few lessons here and there I am only too happy to help."
As he and Nyiim went about loading the other aldabuk up something started to move through the underbrush, seeming to be drawn in by the scent of fresh blood. It was trying to figure out how to get at all that meat while avoiding both the Leaf Tribesmen as well as the winged beast with them. For the moment the one stalking them stayed low and quiet, preparing to strike when it saw an opening, even as the hunting party was preparing to pack up and leave the area.

Nyiim rushed over to assist in dragging the aldabuk onto his dragging mechanism. Apparently field dressing was not an option, but it made sense considering the mention of witu. They were carrying so much meat, certainly they were prime targets. He saw the reaction of the archer than and felt the barest twinge of guilt.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to draw forth any negative memories. I was lucky, in a sense. The whole village raised me. I admit, a lot of it was forced upon me through experience, but I did alright. You seem to as well," he nodded. of course, he'd also had a mother for a time, but he didn't feel like discussing what may or may not have happened to her. "I appreciate the gesture, though. I don't think I've seen you before. I live in Yware. I don't mind traveling to learn, though. Anything you can offer is--"
It was a low rumbling that caused him to pause, a familiar sound that usually was just fine. Nyiim didn't imagine there were many strangers out here, though. At least not of a friendly kind. He turned to see Bosede hunched, the feathers between his shoulder blades struck nearly vertical. Beasts in the brush could hide from an Earthling, but less from another creature. He followed the raptrix's gaze and saw nothing. That was probably not a good sign.
"Priorities?" Nyiim asked.

Jacinthus gave a bit of a smile, one ear giving a little twitch, before he said, "I am glad to hear that your village was there for you. Even with how dangerous the world is and how often people can be lost it's good hear that those left behind are taken care of." He wondered if it were the fact that he had stepped up to take care of Keilana that made it so that others didn't help as much. His stubbornness had always been there after all as well as the desire to take care of his family on his own. It was something that stuck until this day making the hunter seem more then a little hardheaded at times.
"Yware, is it? Wow, you have traveled quite a distance to get here, haven't you? I have to say I am impressed. I live in Yera with my family so it isn't too far a walk from where we are at the moment." He told the other Leaf Tribesman, not minding sharing such information with another member of his tribe. Were it an outsider he might be a little more leery about bringing them home to where his family and his mate were located but as another member of the Leaf Tribe he didn't see Nyiim as a threat. Instead, if anything, he saw him as an asset when it came to hunting. He leaned over to take hold of Nyimm aldabuk transporting creation before he gave a pause, turning to look over at Bosede when he gave a rumbling sound. He starred for a long moment, then turned back to Nyiim when he mentioned what their 'priorities' were.
There was a long moment where Jacin seemed to think on it before he said, "I think the first and most important priority is that we get moving, seems that something is already watching us if that growling is any indication." He wouldn't lose their meal to some beast he thought to himself, motioning for Nyiim to get a hold on the contraption he made so the two of them could get going. The sooner they got to Yera the better, it meant other hunters and other hunters meant less a chance of them getting jumped by a predator. If anything whatever was thinking about stalking them would end up on the dinner table too.

Nyiim nodded, grabbing hold of his contraption and beginning to move. The first step or two were difficult, but ease grew with distance. He hoped that he would make it back to Yware in one piece and before dark, but being hunted by invisible forest creatures tended to put a damper on rational planning. Still, he was not afraid. If it was his time to die, then so be it. Panic only made expiration more likely. If battle were to take place, Jacinthus was well-armed and he had his harvesting tools, as well as Bosede's crushing jaw. The odds looked to be stacked in their favor.
Bosede meanwhile huffed the air, rumbling all the while. He couldn't quite see the thing that stalked his party, but he could smell it. There was a tension in the air, and the raptrix peered around him as if a dozen eyes could be watching. He was tensed to strike and well-prepared, advancing backward toward the men that retreated with their bounty.

There was a sort of growling sound behind them that caused Jacinthus to go a little tense and instantly he was trying to place it. It seemed a little bit too high pitched to be a Witu, so that was something, and a bit too weak to be any number of those nasty bugs from Jauhar. He paused for only a moment before he continued to walk along, "I don't think it's anything we should worry about. It seems... small." He murmured, trying to figure it out. The sound, he'd heard it before but where...? It was something that would bothering him until the creature decided to show itself, that much he was certain of but he saw no reason to wait for it to show itself and attack. Even if it was small any sort of bite wounds or claw wounds would severely hinder their progress. Best that they just keep going.
There were a few times here and there that some of the brush behind them would rustle and that growl would sound but the creature it would seem had yet to really build up enough courage to come out of hiding. It was something that told Jacinthus that the thing was far too weak to mess with them... but it couldn't really ignore the scent of blood, could it? The idea that maybe they would panic, maybe drop something, or better yet drop all of it. Obviously the beast didn't understand how determined Jacinthus was. As though he would sacrifice food meant for his family and his helper because some beast decided to act more big and bad a** then it really was. Stupid creature, "If it causes too much trouble we will just catch it and make use of it as well." He told Nyiim after a moment of thought. He was sure that the winged beast Bosede would appreciate a chew toy he thought to himself idly.

Nyiim nodded mutely, looking only briefly away from the road toward his companion. It might have helped to let the beast know that there was someone else here, but it seemed wary enough. All it needed was a small opening to attack, however. Regardless of how large the beast was, it would be easy to run off with some piece of meat.
That was, if Bosede let down his guard.
The fur down the raptrix's back was standing on end, even his feathers jutting straight into the air. He was well aware of the creature nearby, and he watched it with his head lowered. Were it to move an inch this way or that, he would not hesitate to attack. He watched its silhouette, its shadow, listened to its movements. He would not allow anything to take his party's catch.

Jacinthus continued on forward, his ear flicking from time to time when he heard rustling but he didn't seem to be too worried at the moment. He could tell that whatever was following them was small, as such that meant that it was wasn't a Witu. At least not an adult one, not to mention that it was alone and Witu were never alone after all, they were a pack animal. What was following them was just looking for a chance to get at the meat... though when it finally showed itself Jacin couldn't help but to feel a little disappointed.
From the underbrush came a sailscale, a rather small one at that, likely freshly hatched. It charged at them, puffed up and hissing, seeming as though it was really doing its best to look intimidating. The Leaf Tribesman starred down at it for a long moment before sighing, "That's rather... disappointing now, isn't it?" He said, glancing over at Nyiim, giving a bit of a chuckle. The creature continue to hiss at them while Jacin didn't even bother to slow down. He figured it would get tired after a while and give up, especially since the feathery Bosede could easily chase the nuisance off. A shame that what was stalking them was so small, it wasn't even worth the effort it would take to kill and prepare it, as such he had zero interest in hunting it. Maybe when it was bigger.
"Let's just ignore it, I am sure it will go away soon enough." He told the prentice that was helping him out before giving a smile, "I see Yera ahead, we will be safe to butcher out the Aldabuk once we get there." He told him, glad that they were nearly to their destination and that the 'threat' that was stalking them turned out to be nothing more then a minor annoyance. It meant that they were fine to continue on home and get to work preparing the aldabuk for eating.

Bosede continued to rumble in the depths of his chest, even as the tiny creature crawled out from the brush. It wasn't until Jacinthus seemed so dismissive that he realized this was perhaps not a worthwhile threat.
Nyiim turned and laughed at the little reptile, although he had half a mind to crouch and investigate it. He had never seen a hatchling before, and it was actually pretty adorable, in a fragile, scaly kind of way. He wasn't about to share that opinion with his traveling companion, though. That certainly would be a strike against him in the elder Leaf tribesman's mind. Still, if it followed them all the way into town, it would be so easy to snatch it up...
Bosede sniffed at the little critter's side, nearly nudging it over, and then abandoned it to trot behind Jacinthus, ever alert.
"He's a little, ah... overzealous, sometimes," Nyiim admitted, nodding and returning his attention to dragging their fare. To bring even a small amount of meat home would be good for the settlement, and Bosede would certainly enjoy a proper domesticated meal for once.

Jacinthus glanced over at Nyiim and then to Bosede, taking in how both of them seemed to be so taken with the reptile. It was something that he would never understand given that he saw animals only as walking hunks of meat. He supposed that he would give the raptrix some credit though, at least that one seemed useful. After a moment of though he said, "It is odd to see one so young in the area, Sailscale are normally found in Sauti. Maybe it's the young of one that wandered here or someone's pet." He had no idea if sailscale bothered to raise their young themselves but he'd guess no, reptiles from what he'd seen thus far didn't bother with such things.
As the raptrix set to playing with the sailscale hatchling instead of eating it Jacinthus starred for a moment then shook his head, finding the beast to be a touch odd. One would think since it appeared to be a predator that it would have eaten the little creature up. It wouldn't appear so though. Giving a half shrug his attention was back on Yera, glad to see home in sight, and did his best to ignore the fact that even after revealing itself and failing to scare them off the sailscale was still stalking them. Strange, stupid creature he thought to himself.
"We will be stopping a short distance from the village to do our work, my mate is rather squeamish and I don't want to have to cause him to get ill." He said, not wanting to have to clean up that sort of mess after dealing with cleaning aldabuk first. Best to do this sort of work out of sight.

'Him'? Well, that was certainly something new. Nyiim looked to Jacinthus with his brows furrowed a moment, and then decided that he had just better not ask if it had been a misstep. If men could court women, of course men could court men, why not? Just because it seemed odd to him didn't mean it was odd in general.
"I have no problem with that," he nodded. He did not cease in dragging their fare away, but he would rather have liked to inspect the little reptile more closely. What was it doing here, if they were from Sauti? He had only seen a few in his life.
"What does your mate do?" he asked then, attempting to make conversation and glean more information before they parted. This man was a type that Nyiim would rather have liked to keep in touch with, but he did live quite a ways away. It would be best to learn about his life, his craft before they were forced to separate.

Jacinthus eased the carrier down to the ground when they finally made it to where he felt they would be safe to work, certain that the other hunters of Yera would keep any threats at bay. He was quite glad to be done with all that carrying for at least a time. The brunette set to stretching out first, rolling his shoulders, before he turned to look over at Nyiim for a moment before he drew his blade, "Alright, I am going to set to portioning out the meat." He said, looking things over then said, "You were quite helpful so I say that at least one of them should be yours. Do you want to take it home whole or in pieces?" He asked of him.
When asked about his mate Jacinthus couldn't help but to smile, ever proud of his mate, before he said, "Takoda is a Healer and a damn good one, he also casts powerful offensive magic when he has to, but more the former then the latter." He explained, ever impressed with his mate's power. If it weren't for the fact that Takoda wasn't really able to deal with the ins and outs of hunting he'd probably be good at it.
Glancing over at Nyiim he then said, "He and one of my nephews aren't good with this sort of thing, it's easier for them to deal with the meat when it's just meat, not meat in the shape of an animal." Something he couldn't help but to chuckle over. Aysun and Takoda were those that he'd never bring with him when he went hunting that was for certain.

Nyiim barely smiled and nodded, an oddly obvious display of emotion from him.
"Whole is fine," he nodded. He had his own knife with him, after all. Hopefully coming home with meat would make up for the fact that he hadn't spent all day gathering. In fact, this was sort of selfish of him, wasn't it? Guilt was creeping in, but didn't quite outweigh his interest in Jacinthus and his work. "I've been told that I am entirely ill-suited for magic, and not so good at melee weapons. How did you become an archer, if you don't mind my asking? I'd much rather become something offensive than a plain artisan. They say I build well..."
He sighed. His father had been such an adept hunter, and yet had not lived long enough to teach him his craft. He didn't begrudge his family their own deaths, but he wished that he had someone, anyone to teach him out in the forests, away from the towns.
The baby sail scale appeared to be stalking the meat still, but was wary of the men with knives who divvied up the fare. Nyiim noticed it and arched a brow, pulling a piece of dried meat from his bag and breaking off a small piece to set in front of the creature. it hissed at him initially, but then took the prize and waddled off behind a rock. Nyiim's attention lingered on it a moment, and then turned back to Jacinthus, who undoubtedly thought he was a big softie not made for hunting. His own curiosity wasn't something that he felt was especially detrimental, but he did get odd looks from time to time.

"Alright, we will leave yours on the carrier then, it will be easier for you to transport it home when you decide to head that way." He said, then looked over at him, wondering idly when the guy was planning on heading out. He was rather useful and Jacinthus really didn't mind having him around, it was a nice change of pace from hunting on his own which he did more often then not.
As the other commented on being ill suited for magic he couldn't help but to laugh, "Don't feel bad, the stuff makes little to no sense to me. I will leave all the hocus pocus to those who understand it and stick to my bow, it's been faithful to me for many years now after all." He said, giving it a pat before he turned inspect the aldabuk, taking two of them aside, his two, and then replaced Nyiim's on the carrier. It was the smallest of the three but he felt that it was fair, he still got a whole aldabuk after all despite Jacin having killed them.
"How did I become an archer? One of the elders gave me the weapon after I helped out a youngling that got herself into a bind with some Witu." He explained, then gave a bit of a sigh, "I swear ever since then those things have had it out for me. It's very mutal hate hate relationship that we have between us." They were the thing that seemed to drive him the most crazy in the world, they made him want nothing more then to see them all taken out... though he was sure that they must have their uses. He just hated that one of the uses was them biting him in the backside every time they crossed paths.
Jacinthus glanced over at Nyiim, who seemed to be taken with the sailscale, before going back to inspecting the aldabuk. He would never understand people that saw animals as friends or pets, he enjoyed the taste of them too much to ever bother with such a thing. Giving a smile he said, "Want to get your hands dirty helping to skin and butcher these out? Or are you wanting to head for home to get your aldabuk back to your village before anything else tries to talk you into sharing it?" He asked curiously, wondering if the prentice meant to keep the sailscale. He hoped so, he'd rather it go with Nyiim then stick around here.

Nyiim looked to his aldabuck and then out toward the horizon. He had a bit of a ways to go to return home, and he'd rather not travel in the darkness if he could help it. Bosede was good protection, but even the best were sometimes thwarted. He'd have loved to stay and learn to butcher. Skinning and gutting were simple, but efficiently slicing meat and separating bones was something of a challenge each time. Practice made perfect, though.
Still, he liked Jacinthus. He was cool and hard and fantastically talented. Maybe some day they would meet again. He'd make sure of it.
"I think I had better head back. They'll be expecting me." He nodded to the dead aldabuck. "They won't be expecting that. Thank you again for taking me with you, sir." He had to have been at least a marginal burden. Hopefully his help had balanced it out. The sailscale protested as he tucked it into his pocket, but another small piece of jerky stopped the wriggling. This was a new thing to him, not sailscales but their young. Perhaps he could raise the little thing into something great. Niadra had mentioned wanting a pet, not that a reptile would be able to 'keep her warm'.

Jacinthus turned to face Nyiim, brushing his hands against the legs of his pants, before he gave him a smile, "Alright, make sure that you get back quickly, any breaks you take will only make those that are following you more bold. The sooner you get back to your people the better, I wouldn't want you to get hassled by the witu." Given that he found Nyiim to a nice enough guy, as well as one that he enjoyed hunting with, he didn't want to hear that he'd gotten himself into trouble. Better that he got back to his people with the aldauk sooner then later.
"I am often found in or around Yera, if you want to help me out again sometime just seek me out." He wouldn't mind a hunting buddy again, one that would be able to aid him in getting the food back to Yera in a swift manner as they had done today. Maybe next time he could put him to work with the butcher as well he thought to himself before he turned back to the two creatures that he still had to prepare and turn into food for his family, "When you get back you should see to helping butcher out your aldabuk, hands on is always the best way to learn something." He suggested to Nyiim.
Giving his fellow Leaf Tribesman one last glance and a nod he turned back to the task at hand, setting to work on the rather messy job. Best to get it done as quickly as possible so that he could clean up and head for home with his prize.
