The First Day of Life

Loud sounds and yelling; that is what the unborn Drakein could remember as the sounds passed through his protective egg shell one day. The youngling was only moments before hatching before the incident happened as he was in his nest ever so happily with his siblings and his mother off the shores from their original home in the ocean. The parent drakeins had seen ships sailing from one of the continents where the two leggers lived in constant battle. It was no place at all to raise a family and had to move to safety on land. On the warm sands of Eowyn was the perfect place as long as they are away from the other two clans who lived among the sands but they can never be close to the water as they are. But there were another kind who does as they make shore upon one fateful day.

It was the two leggers who came upon the shores. They were dark skinned with hollowed eyes with sharpen blades at hand as they look like pure monsters. They grinned brightly and laughed heartily deep in their chests as they spoke of the proceeding battle today. And one of them had spotted the Peisio family that lived on the once abandon shore and created a ruckus about having a friendly little egg hunt before heading out. The father drakein stood his ground while the mother shielded her clutch of eggs away from the warriors. But then they found themselves surrounded by the band of warriors before them. One of the eggs had begun to wiggle around in the nest as it was ready to being hatched and the timing was the most terrible of them all. Luckily, the mother saw it and used her tail to push it away to the waters and escape. She refused to let her baby see this as their memory. When she looked back she saw her mate slain before her very eyes. “Neifion!” She let out a loud, piercing cry until there was silence.

The egg drifted away in the water. It felt so cooling against the shell just until the egg finally washed up against the shore again of Eowyn into the sand. The egg wiggled even more as it felt so cramped now. A small crack was seen followed by another and the pieces were breaking apart. The top part of the shell popped up and a bright sparkling blue Peisio Keinling had finally appeared. His vibrant green eyes looked around to see his family and siblings that he heard for most of his life and just recently too. “Nei . . . fion . . .” He said. He wondered who Neifion was since he heard the name earlier as he rocked slightly in his shell to get out and see. Perhaps that was his name? It’s the only thing he can think of as he walked around the sandy shores to find his parents. But there was no one in sight. “Mama . . . Papa . . .” He called out as well as letting out a small cry for he wants to know where did everyone go to? From the distant, there were sounds of combat echoed far and wide that it had reached to where he was following by seeing the large dragons flying up high in the sky. There was so much going on! Neifion was terrified as he scrambled back into the broken shell and tries to curl up inside for more protection where he cried in his lonesome. It was his first day in the world and he hates it.
