"Then maybe we should leave the lesson's for next ride," Roch said, sliding his fingers through hers just because she hadn't tugged it away from him. He stopped at the front gate, letting go of her hand and reaching behind the bushes to pull out his motorcycle.

"Helmet first, screech," he said, pulling the spare helmet off of the handlebar and plopping it on Lark's head. Then he mounted the bike, pulling his own on. "Now," he said over the mic that connected the helmets, "get on behind me--an' make sure t'hold on tight."

Lark gave Roch's fingers a slight squeeze just before he pulled away to recover his motorcycle from the bushes. With both hands free she started clapping them again at the sight of it, bouncing on her heels.

"Eeeee!"

Lark slipped on the bike behind Roch and situated herself before circling her arms around him.

"M'ready. Gonna let y'walk me t'prom, too, jest so y'know."

"Sounds like y'd prefer to RIDE t'prom," he teased as he kicked the kickstand up and started the bike. They took off down the path leading to town, just fast enough to make sure she held on tight--then he turned away from the town down a long strip of empty street. "Y'ready?" he asked, revving the motor and shifting gears. "Y'gotta make sure t'hold on, got it? An' lean whenever I lean."

Not the race course area, but he figured he might as well kick it up!

"Y'would do that? We could ride th'bike to prom? Please, can we go on th'bike?"

Lark squeezed Roch tighter as the bike picked up speed. She paid close attention to his directions. Hold on, lean when he did. It sounded manageable.

"Ready," she spoke into the mic, her voice bright with excitement. Lark rested her chin on his shoulder as they picked up speed.

This was going to be amazing.

"I dunno, depends on if you're in a skirt or not," Roch said honestly. "Don't want y'to burn strange places if y'ain't careful. But maybe! It'd make a damn good entrance! Hell, if you could stand on the bike, y'could be one of those bike ridin' ghouls in the fluffy skirts that stick out t'here," he said cheerfully. "Oh... wouldn't work, couldn't fit Benji on here at the same time..."

He frowned, considering this deep problem.

Lark dared to pinch Roch very sort of gently on his side before once more wrapping her arms tightly around the boil.

"I'ma ask Steff t'help me w'my outfit," Lark shrugged, "so I ain't sure what she's gonna want t'do. I ain't gonna wear no fluffy skirt," she said very seriously, "an I... ain't gonna stand on th'bike, neither. My luck I'd fall off n'break m'neck n'ruin th'whole night."

Lark hummed thoughtfully.

"I guess we'd better stick t'walkin'."

She sounded so sad.

"Hey, it's just one night," he told her, kicking up the speed even more. He seemed very comfortable going this speed. "It ain't like that's the only night I'm gonna have a bike--or we're gonna be pals, right? Plus, if y'really like it, my old man has a shop. Y'd have to save up, of course, but we could make y'one--after y'learned to ride an' got your license an' all that," he told her. "An' after he's actually set it up properly. Right now he's still just toolin' around."

Ahh, nothing better than riding with a ghoul behind you, he thought cheerfully, even as he started slowing down. He was near the field he'd set up as a course.

"Better not be th'only night you got a bike, or th'only night we're gonna be friends," Lark threatened lightly. "An' I don't know 'bout savin' up t'get m'own bike. I kind of like ridin' on th'one you got."

She was grinning so big her face hurt.

"Y'think we could go on a long ride sometime? Don't know where we'd go, but it don't really matter, m'sure we'd find someplace t'visit."

He hesitated--because he'd gone on a roadtrip with Amphi, and the memory was stuck in his head...

Then he realized that might be exactly why he should do it. "Y'mean a roadtrip?" he asked. "D'ya really trust me t'go out across Halloween with you?" he teased. "There'd be more skinny dippin, an' campin' out, sharin' a tent, that sort of thing."

Lark was quiet, not because she didn't trust him, but because he'd had to ask.

"'course I trust y'Roch." She paused.

"Y'was there fer me when I thought I mighta los' Ben. Y'never given me a reason not to."

She grinned, though he couldn't see it, and merely hugged her arms around his middle.

"Sounds like fun t'me!"

He let a grin slip into place, that simple statement hitting a good spot in his mind. Then he shifted down and headed into a field, revealing his cleared out path. There were hills and even a ramp all in a circle in the middle of the field. "See this?" he said. "I spent two days mowin' it down so I could teach Terra t'ride. She's got a scooter now, so I figure it was worth it. Then I came back an' set up a few little tricks for a dirtbike--which I still gotta put together. We'll ignore those."

He revved the bike. "Wanna ride it?" he asked, already knowing the answer.

Lark closed her eyes and just smiled, a blissful little crease of her lips that spoke of how much she was enjoying herself. Didn't matter that she'd gone to see Roch today because she was mad at him (or trying to be mad at him) - or that he was so damn shameless that he made her blush so red that her face felt like it might explode.

He was a good friend.

He had a cute butt.

What more was there to want?

Oh, right.

"I wanna ride it."

Lark paused.

"FAST."

"Then hold on, ghoul, cuz this is gonna be a bumpy ride," he said, shifting into gear and then rushing forward. It was fast, so fast that the wind tugged their clothes and had they not been wearing helmets it would have been hard to breathe. They went twisting around corners and flying over hills--grabbing air time each time they hit one.

It was a rush, and he had a permanent grin stuck on his face after he finished the second lap around and slowed to a halt. "Y'still back there?" he asked her.
PostPosted: Thu Jun 06, 2013 8:55 pm

"That. Was. Jackin'. Amazin'."

She couldn't stop grinning. There were no words to explain just how liberating those two laps had been.

Lark tightened her arms around Roch in a huge hug.

"Yer th'jackin' best, Roch. This is th' best."

He let out a laugh. "Giddoff, giddoff, I got some snacks an' a blanket in the saddlebags, let's take a break," he said, motioning for her to get off. "I ain't ate in almost an hour, y'know," he added--like that was supposed to mean something. Then again, he WAS a glutton.

He tugged his helmet off and hung it on the handlebar, shoving his hair up again. "Helmet hair," he complained.
