Aiden gave a grateful smile when Mikael said that every person had a fear to overcome. He seemed so understanding for a king and it made Aiden feel relaxed and comfortable in his presence. "Well there isn't much place to gain position unless in the work place where you have to strive to be better than everyone else. Some people work everything out of them to get where they want to be. There are laws that help keep people in line but for markets its hard there are so many specialties and brands that people can charge what they want and others will pay for it. I try to buy from family owned places or markets like the ones here if I can." Aiden shrugged. Traveling didn't leave much for spending horrendous amounts on clothing.

Mikael frowned and shook his head. “That is sloppy, lazy ruling. It sounds like your king doesn’t even know what is going on in his own kingdom, or doesn’t care, which means he shouldn’t be king.” He grumbled. Bad kings and rulers annoyed him, because in his experience, it was left to other, better rulers to clean up, as had his family many times through the generations for surrounding lands.

Aiden gave a soft cheery laugh at Mikael's words. "Thats the problem you see, we don't have a king. We have a bunch of different rulers who can barely agree on anything. We call it a democracy and it has its uses. The people get to vote on what they want instead of one person making all the decisions." Aiden informed the man still smiling. "I guess we avoid getting bad kings that way."

Mikael tilted his head at Aiden's laughter. "So you traded the possibility of one bad king for the guarantee of the many useless men. Is it so bad to possibly have a bad king that can be overthrown? At least a king seems to get what is needed done." Shaking his head in confusion, he shifted on his cushions. He had never understood the need and desire for some peoples to have these 'democracies' his kingdom had lasted long and prospered under his family's rule.

"I didn't do anything of the sort I just grew up in the world someone created. Some democracies are better than others but so are some monarchies." Aiden shrugged. Aiden chose a few more things to munch on before looking back up to Mikael. "I'm not keeping you from things am I? I don't know what it takes to run a kingdom." He worried that he was distracting Mikael from what he needed to do. He could only imagine what the man had to do and in some ways it intrigued him.

Mikael arched a brow at Aiden’s question before laughing. “No, no. If I was to be somewhere else, I already would be. Besides, others wait on the king, not the other way around.” He smiled. “No I don’t have much to entertain me right now. It is the season for the traders to travel and it is too hot for war and battle. All that is left at the moment is to argue petty matters, nothing I look forward to attending.”

Aiden felt embarrassment flare up when Mikael laughed but he felt relief when the king told him that he had no pressing matters to attend to. He was also glad that he would not hold the man up if he needed to go somewhere. "War? Do you often go to war here when it is not so hot outside?" Aiden questioned. War was not a fun, it generally meant he couldn't get out of whatever country he was in and that he was more likely to be used for political gain. Or at least that was what his mother had told him.

Mikael shook his head. “War, not so often, but we do tend to have battles for various reasons.” He said slowly, watching Aiden as he spoke. “You do not approve of such things do you?’ he asked lightly.

Aiden smiled when he heard war did not happen often but their were some battles for various reasons. "Not really no, I don't like fighting. It generally starts because no one wants to talk about what they want or need. Instead of trying to get it in a standard kind of way they decide to take it. Also my mother thinks I'll be used as bait for any political party who wants help from my country." Aiden explained.

Mikael let a little smile play at his lips at the explanation. “So there is no thirst for glory in you then? There is some truth to what you say, but to be able to prove yourself in battle is a truly…..what is the correct word……primal, would you say? Yes, a primal satisfaction.” He said lightly. His small smile turned into a short laugh at the last of Aiden’s reasons. “Not here, at least not for help. Outside help is not something we often look for in this part of the world, only if we truly feel our very existence as a kingdom is threatened. It is dishonorable otherwise.” He explained.

Aiden shook his head when Mikael asked about his thirst for glory. "None such in the form of battle but there are many ways to achieve glory." Aiden smiled softly. "I have never been one for fighting." he continued. Looking to the king a bit confused when the man had laughed. "That is a relief to know I won't be used as a pawn for war." he smiled genuienly at that, truly pleased.

Mikael shook his head. “I did not say you could not be a pawn. Just not for your country’s aid. You are my guest, and thus can be used against me. I am honor bound to keep you safe. Of course, once you leave my protection and go beyond my borders on your own, then that is no longer so.” He explained, toying with the silk tunic he wore.

Aiden looked to Mikael quite surprised when the man said that he could still be used as a pawn. He looked worried for a moment until Mikael said that he was honor bound to protect him. "Do you mean the palace's borders, the cities, or the countries?" he asked trying to clarify watching the man play with his tunic.

"They all belong to me, so all of them." Mikael responded with a small shrug. Seeing how Aiden watched him, he looked over the other's clothes. "Those clothes are not comfortable for the dessert. Would you like to try on something of our country?"

Aiden smiled once more when Mikael said that he was protected with in all that he had questioned. Munching on some fruit again as he thought about the many places he still wanted to explore within the country when the king asked him about his clothing. "No they are not, quite hot for this place. If it would not be too much trouble I would. I had intentions of buying some tomorrow."
