As the tentacle emerged from the ocean, Ian figured death had come to collect him, that he'd only eluded the inevitable for a short time and nothing more. Maybe fate was just toying with him.

He leapt back startled as the whip seemed to materialise out of nowhere, and in an effortless sweep dispatched the threat.

He found himself wondering if he'd simply found more monsters.

Ian the magnificent pet psychic - no longer feeling so magnificent - slumped down to sit on the deck, holding the coat to himself. He didn't have the courage to set foot back on the island, he had to trust the people he was with.

Glenda wrapped the coat around her shoulders, huddling.

"Cain't say white's my color, but I appreciate the sentiment," she announced to no one in particular. She searched the pockets of the borrowed garment hopefully, but came up empty-handed.

"That tall feller sure does have a way with words, don't he? Goodness me, but I feel like a schoolgirl. I wouldn't mind a spankin - not with that whip o' his of course, maybe when I was younger, y'know, but deary me, not today. My back ain't as good as it used t'be an' all that."

"You've certainly got a way with words too, Miss Glenda," she chuckled a little at the older woman's words - or tried to. It was a bit of a dismal attempt, all in all.
Shock was finally starting to set in for the Security officer, now that they were out of constant danger and she could finally relax, and Hannah hid her shaking hands in the borrowed white coat draped around her. They hadn't stopped shaking since the helicopter had gone down, and ever since they'd gotten onto the rescue ship (because it was a rescue ship, right?) she'd been having trouble keeping her attention focused. Stuff was happening, the guy with the hood had been talking, but she'd missed all of it. Or perhaps not so much missed - she'd noticed it going on, but it just didn't seem to matter anymore, now. They were safe. So it'd be fine if she went a bit numb now that there were no murderous creatures or death traps disguised as islands to escape from.

Lydia had boarded the ship, looking frazzled and bandaged up, huddled beneath her kevlar vest as though it were the only thing that had kept her alive up until this point, and not just an insane amount of luck. Everything that happened once the ship had gotten near enough for them to be rescued had become a blur, and not just because she had lost her glasses for good.

It wasn't long before she found herself collapsing on the deck, arms wrapping around blood stained and bandaged knees that were brought up to her chest. She rested her chin on top of her arms, and listened, moving only to brush the wispy strands of curly hair off of her forehead and out of her eyes. She tried to listen to what was being said, but her mind kept wandering back to the island, the monsters, the others that were killed, how near to death she had been herself on more than one occasion, so she missed a lot of what had been said.

Eventually, a jacket was draped over her almost as though it were a passing thought, falling over her head and hiding her from sight.

She thought about moving it and wearing it properly, but in the end decided to just leave it there, and spoke up from underneath, completely at random. "I think I might just go for a career change."

A figure in a grey cloak approaches the group, smiling widely through a face covered in scaled. From it's back, two sets of wings twitch and flutter before settling in a more manageable fold again. It looked much like any of the Park's creatures, but then it opened it's mouth and did something that they could not. It spoke to them in clear, though slightly rough, English. "Eh you lot. Any of you work o'er in yonder park?"

The white coated crew give the creature space, tense and watching, but not interfering. Several other strange beings in cloaks appear on deck soon after.

At the sound of a new voice, one that sounded a little strange though definitely understandable despite being muffled by a jacket that was still draped over her head, Lydia shifted, lifting the jacket up to peek out from underneath it, eyes squinting at the figure that addressed them.

She wished she had just left the jacket in place, cringing when she noticed the scales and the wings. "N-not me." She mumbled, reaching up to rub at her runny nose, grabbing for the sleeve of the white jacket to wipe it on. "I was just invited...." She glanced around, nervous and looking for some kind of reassurance from the others on board, though all she could really see were blurry white figures, and then suddenly more in grey.

She was really beginning to wish she could just go back in time and refuse that invitation.

It squinted at her for a long moment and then nodded, "Well, nothin' to worry about. Shame t'have t'rough yeh up what wit thems pathetic wibblies o'yas."

Ian, looking in some sort of shell shock, simply shook his head and tried not to make even the slightest eye contact.

Soon the cloaked figures left, and the swarthy man with the rest of the white coated crew returned, silent and tense. They placed another human, dragged out from the helipad area and dumped their body with the rest of the survivors. As the ship began to leave the island, he said in a casual aside, "Oh yes, someone do put these poor dears out of their misery."

Within moments, their bodies slumped and relaxed. At some point, they may find themselves within a strange, dark dream, with the offer of a new life and new power offer just waiting for them to wake-up once more. But for now, all was darkness.
