Cora heart about stopped when she heard Fluffy speak, she sniffles as she felt the tears burn the back of her eyes "That right...Ora..." hugging him close again, she takes a slow deep breath as she shakes her head. She really wish she could take him with her.
A blood curdling scream from the back sounded another creature stampeding towards the SUV. Pulling away from Fluffy, her eyes going wide.
Ripping through the forest, gaining ground on the SUV was a basilisk.

Fluffy was just getting a nice little hug and the humans seemed rather pleased about his ability to make a noise at that point. Apparently it was a term of endearment or something? Cause she said yes to it and that was good right? Maybe... he didn't get to think about it too long as something suddenly screeched and drew all of their attention.
A basilisk? He'd seen one on the mountain. They weren't so scary. Thus he promptly shifted to try and get out the door. Which was closed. He stared at it clueless for a moment. Then pawed at it. However he was about to try and kick it open when Tonio, with a sigh that said he was an idiot, opened the door to save it. As soon it was open though Fluffy slipped out of the care to greet the beast, who took him as prey and swatted him to one side with it's tail. Which certainly was started to smart more compiled with all of the other scratches, cuts, and bruises.
Still he couldn't take a nap which meant getting up. And then promptly tackling the thing as he clawed at it's side, working it over quite well. The cerberus managed a few more good attacks while digging his claws in as the thing was thrashing to try and knock him off, sadly it did manage to do so. Which led to a rather unpleasant landing on a bit of debris to one side as the thing started toward him again.

The thing was coming closer just as the Cerberus was slowly working his way to his feet again, torn and weary. IT did manage a good bite on his shoulder, but in return found it's head snatched in the process. Shortly after it was dislodged it also got to have a nice greeting with the rock. A much more harsh one than he had really. Because after he'd smashed it's head against that rock it vanished the same way he felt like he was about to.
Still, he seemed to be able to move and stand. That was a good sign. Even if he was panting and a bit light headed from the overall pain that was flooding through his body. He usually didn't pick this many fights. Really. It was hurting a bit.
Still, he slowly wobbled back toward the car, offering a small smile as he tripped once, then kept going and climbed back in from the open door. He'd done good right? He looked at them a bit hopefully, tail wagging weakly as he flopped on the back seat again. This time not from habit, just purely being too tired to even try sitting up. He really wanted a nap. Cora was scared, not for them, but for Fluffy. As he came back to the SUV, she felt the tears running down her face as she looks him over. Reaching for him, she cradles him in her arms as she holds him close "Such a brave little guy. You didn't have to do that." looking towards Tonio, she nods to him "Can we go, before anything else tries to rip the SUV apart and kill us all?"

The fight was nasty as it should be considering this was the third battle the little pup had been in. The mans eyes softened for once on the creature as it limped into the vehicle. Silently he turned to look at the road, realizing himself that those wounds were bad but given how these things kept coming back, he wasn't sure how bad. If it died he couldn't really say he would be sad, but, "good boy, Fluffy." He could say that Fluffy did a good job. "Yeah." Looking to Cora he frowned softly then nodded pushing the gas down and wheeling them away.

He smiled a bit at the affection. In truth, it reminded him a bit of when he'd been smaller. In the lab with the handlers who weren't afraid of him. He'd been too small to hurt anything so truly, they'd just been nice. Even Tonio had praised him for doing a good job.
See, he was a good Cerberus. Bestest one really. Even if some of them didn't understand. He just curled up and dozed for the rest of their brief trip to wherever they were going. He was too banged up to care and quite content to rest against Cora's side until they got where they were going. Humans weren't so bad. A bit fragile, but they could be nice too.
That was definitely his conclusion. Some were bad, but most were pretty nice. Just scared. And even he lashed out when he got scared. It was reasonable.
