“Just like...that? ” Creation lifted an eyebrow with amuse while looking down at the mortal. "I don't recall snapping. Verbal and somatic components are not alway necessary to the 'magic' as you might call it. " Only it wasn't really magic. 'Magic' as a term gave the impression that the process was unnatural or forced. The will that stretched out the power and influence like opening a bloom. "But that isn't what you are asking. Yes, I am the Maker. I make. Trees, flowers, birds, beasts, buildings, oceans, comets, planets, sun and moons, the march of hours and even gods. Into each and every piece that exists, there is a part of me. "

Graff outright pouted. "Well, you know what I mean."Just do not waltz up to Destruction with that kind of sass.Uh ?
"So the other gods... Back you up, kind of ?" The others - at least the few other deities he had come in contact with - had seemed much more limited than the Twin Crown seemed to be. He'd assumed that none of them were at full power yet, which was indeed true - but there seemed to be more to it.
Once he had managed to wring most of the water out of his hair, the towel would be laid on his shoulder as he twisted the fabric of his shirt to do the same to it. It had really started raining a lot more than he'd noticed.

“Back me up....That's a little more complex. If by backing up you believe and imply that I am master of puppets, or looms or otherwise controlling and directing the happenings and choices of all that is. ”
"They are, in many cases, as broadly found, their magic and being disseminated as their influence and equally able to draw on their powers in a breath. "
"But they do not always agree with me, or my goals. They are always welcome to come to me and air grief and want for change. But I wouldn't call them a back up. It you want to refer to things in that manner, the other gods, the children of my body and children's children, and further are all the primary gods. I am their back up. I am what they and the mortal races govern and struggle within. If all fail, I am still here and all there is continues. "Duncan chimed in, "Maybe a better explanation is that He's the generator that powers everything. The gods are the vendors that see how that energy is offered. The mortals are the customers that buy the power for their houses. No vendors, the generator's probably still running, but no generator and no one has power and everything goes south. " “What is this mortal fascination with South being a bad direction? "

Creation's words did clarify things a little bit, but it was Duncan's elaboration that really made the whole thing make sense in his mind.
Graff had no damn idea what disseminated even meant.
"Then that's why you survived where all the others died ?" It did make sense, in a way. "And... why all the rest still existed when the gods were gone ? That must have been hard, to be alone this long." He didn't especially like to be alone at all. Graff tended to surround himself with people whenever he could - to be alone reminded him too much of those years where he did nothing but survive.Oh, trust me, if the Twin Crown had faded then none of us would be here. That much was quite definite.
"That does make little sense." Nuhava seemed equally as puzzled. "South is generally where temperatures are milder and life is easier... Unless those milder temperatures cause plenty of natural disasters...""I can't really tell you where that expression come from."

Creation looked across the water and gardens where he had been before. What words to offer on surroundings cold where once others had stood. "The halls are full again, and voices ring where there were only echos before. It is as enough to wash away much sorrow. "
"It is all a different view, this gathering of gods and nexus of their dwelling, We were all well forgotten but for pocket societies who'd kept whispers to cling to. Power without names or actualization, like so much foam on the waves. "
"You give name back to one of us and retake a piece of the emptiness- rebuilding the cathedrals of worlds and the stability of the realms. There is nigh no greater sacrifice than that of one life for another. " Duncan shrugged at the other half of the conversation, "I always took south to mean the big DownUNDER. Ya know, Hell? The your a bad person adn going to burn for all eternity place? So if everything goes south it isn't like directional south so much as celestial metaphysical south. "

Graff understood that a little too well, and for a moment the young man was uncannily silent. He couldn't imagine being alone for so long. The past Lan spoke of seemed so distant...
"Well. Neither of us ever have to be alone again. That's the important thing. So if those echoes do come back to haunt you... Well, remember that."Taylor...The matter of names was also a curious one. "So names give the gods power ?" He did realize that gods had multiple names who refereed to the exact same thing - that much was hard to miss."Yes. Well, the meaning behind the name moreso, I would say" A name without meaning or intent was just letters strung together. And once again, Duncan made a lot of sense. Graff visibly decided that his shirt was acceptably dry, and instead leaned against one of the wooden beam of their little shelter. "Ah, straight to hell in an hand basket, then.""That does not make any sense either." Humans were so strange.Which would seemingly prompt another question. "Is hell really a place, then ?"

"I wouldn't say that a name is wholly the source of the power of a god. It is connected to it. It has to do with the power of True Names. There are names and Names. Names in the greater sense are sources of balance and binding to form. They are identity, self, the rope that can bind the mist of a thing together instead of it falling apart. But they can also, therefore, be something that gives power over the Named one. If a True Name is known, then the rope can be broken or manipulated. Or threatened to be broken or manipulated. "
"Many of the oldest things have True Names, and that is why they guard them so from any not of closest bonds. " Duncan chimed in again, "Not like the way we know it, but Underworld does judge peeps and send 'em on to just reward or punishment. So the fire and brimstone and layers and stuff are like humans played telephone with the original story and a couple bajillion eons later we're all thinking theirs little red men with pitchforks." "There was a separate realm, not part of the underworld that could be analogous to your hell. Many differing ageless immortal races war and strive there, looking, acting and for all intents and purposes could be identified as your 'demons' or 'devils'. And the do steal, collect, and trade in souls of mortals. They also consume them. They are often at odds with Underworld and the Spirit Guide, and harry their paths. "

"That sounds... kind of strange." To think that a word could have such power. Strange... and pretty dangerous at the same time. Graff could understand that those few with such names would guard them closely. He was not sure he could actually reveal anything like that to anyone, no matter what... But it probably wouldn't ever matter. He had no such thing, as far as he knew.
"Underworld ? Yeah, that sounds friendly." Not really. Death was not something he liked to think about, as was often the case with many mortals. That there would be a god for such things did not really occur to him. There are gods for everything. Or at least there had once been. Two for each, to be exact."Yeah, I had... a few run in with these demons. They're not friendly. So I guess at one point the telephone game had the two ideas mixed up." Made enough sense.
He would peer toward the fountain, and realize that it had stopped raining. "I should probably get going..." He told Lan he would only be gone for a quick market run, after all. It was surprising that no one had come looking for him already. "Is there somewhere I can find the two of you again ?"

"Some truth becomes subjective from distance. In some times of their wars, the princes of the abyss have abode in Underworld and won lands under siege there. Not often. There are arguements also that the more a thing in believed, the more energy shifts to make it so. " Duncan shrugged enthusiatically, "I'm always here and there, but I usually conk out out here in the free air or one of the tea houses. Keepin the one?" "Saying my name gets my attention, though I cannot always promise to bodily attend an answer. I try to visit the gardens with the help of my Pillar as I can. I have apartments as most of the gods where I can be sought as well. "

"I'd never thought about that before." That the more something was believed in, that the more likely it was to happen. He figured it made sense, to some degree. Graff did not realize that this was more or less the truth of the gods, who needed belief and energy not only to be again, but to reach out in influence.
Such were not things he needed to worry himself about, as far as Strength was concerned.
"Alright." He nodded. "Catch you two later !"
And then he left, toward the main building.
