"Whoa," Dana glanced at the woman Mystery called 'mom'. She didn't have much experience with moms but she was sure they didn't usually look like that! Even if her brain couldn't quite wrap around the social constructs of why not.
Her conclusion was a naive, "Your mom is pretty."
She blew a strand of hair from her face. "Nah, I did it myself. In my bathroom! My dad was really mad. I used to have tips, see, back when my hair was long, but then I cut it myself-- also in my bathroom--- so I wanted to put more color in up top. I think next time I will do my whole head. But not blonde. Something different."
Speaking of different, what kind of a name was Mystery? The introduction was met with a look of confusion before she cautiously countered with "I'm Dana."

"Mom does a lot of work to keep looking fabracular*!" Carolynn had done plenty to teach Mystery about the ways of beauty and the different types that existed. Carolynn looked excellent, but that was thanks to the tricks of the trade she had learned over her years.
Clapping her hands together in a bout of excitement, she asked "You had long hair? How long was it before you cut it? I have never had hair longer than what I have right now... I like it this length!"
She bobbed her head up and down as the girl mentioned a name, uttering the name a few times quietly, as if to memorize the name.
"I agree... light colored hair I don't think works for your complexion... Maybe go a nice dark purple?"
Lifting up her stopper on her skate, she moved to skate about behind her new companion, pausing long enough to poke at the pair of skates she was toting about.
"So are you going to skate? It's funzowie*!"

Istas smiled, as Becky talked, "I'm 12," She answered offering Becky her hand, "And you can thank my parents, they wanted to do something fun for the school and a skate night seemed like a good idea."
She was looking at Wallace with a sidelong stare, "Nawh I don't think he'd be a party pooper Becky." She also offered Wallace her hand to shake, "A name like Wallace doesn't sound like it'd be a party poopers name." There was a wink before chuckling.
"Ah have you skated before Becky? Because if not it takes a second to get your balance on these silly things. Inlines are much easier from what I've seen." Istas had used quads before but it wasn't always easy to keep her balance on them.
Istas watched Wallace as he walked to the counter and when he was out of ear shot she started talking again. "Hey Becky, tell me something. When all those people went missing a little while back was Wallace one of those?" She felt like she could ask his sister without being suspected but had she asked Wallace things might be a little difference.
