Usagi waited while Rory went to go fetch the drinks. She was hungry, but she had been taught not to start eating until everyone was at the table and ready, and she was not about to break that rule now. Luckily, it didn't take Rory long to come back with the drinks so they could start eating! "Thanks," she took a sip of her wine and started on the salad and bread. So far, so good. After finishing, it was time to move onto the main dish, the lasagna! Usagi hadn't really noticed it before, but looking at it now, the lasagna looked a bit strange. Maybe she was just imagining things, and even if she wasn't it was the taste the mattered, not the looks! Well, there went nothing! She certainly couldn't stare at her plate all night after Rory had taken his time to cook for her! She took a bite of the lasagna and had to use just about all her strength not to spit it back out! It had to be the worst thing she had tasted, and that meant a lot considering neither her nor her sister were the best cooks. She tried her best not to let her face show her disgust, but it wasn't an easy thing to do.

She quickly tried to think of a conversation topic. Anything would do as long as it would keep Rory distracted from noticing her lack of eating. She racked her brain for ideas, but luckily Rory had already began rambling. She snapped her attention to him, and picked at the food with her fork. That was better than completely ignoring, right? Oh, conversation was so much better than eating that lasagna! "Of course we're okay," had Rory really thought that they hadn't been? Sure they hadn't talked much since the incident, but that wasn't because their friendship was in jeopardy or anything. "It's not like what happened was your fault or anything, you didn't even have to do this," she gestured at the barely touched dinner in front of them. Bad cooking or not, it still meant a lot that he had gone to the trouble to do this, especially when what happened hadn't even been his fault. Wow Rory was nice, and smart, and also kind of attractive? No. That was not something to think about right now. This dinner had already had enough awkward turns, and thinking about her newfound possible feelings for her friend was not going to help that.

~Ignore the Paradox, please~!! ;w; ~

Iris had quite a handful of followers to take care of this year! Hopefully, she could get it done quickly so she could go back to her ruins and watch the clouds – or whatever struck her fancy, really, Iris wasn't one to plan~ She had her first stop at the home of one of her longest followers – one that had worried her in previous years, but her assumptions on his mental state had subsided as time went on. In fact, she was rather pleased with how he seemed so open in expressing his interests and passions and, even more, how he wanted to share them with everyone with his museum! Watching him had become a relaxing past time for the fairy and, so, she was more than happy to give Rory a little treat for being so.. her! She left a pot of calendula that were such a brilliant shade of orange, she had to pause to admire it. In fact.. if she could remove that petal or.. that one – and maybe paint those ones red, while highlighting these ones with white.. Aha! They looked like fire blossoms or, perhaps, clownfish-dulas? Ah, but Iris certainly had to leave to the next home or else she would never return home! So, she fluttered off, pleased with her work and just a little unhappy at the schedule forced upon herself.

Ah, Usagi was such a nice person. Rory was sitting there, rambling like a crazy person, and all she did was reassure him that everything was okay. It was almost too much for him to take, how incredibly kind she was. How had he become so lucky to know someone as forgiving as her? "Of course I don't have to," he replied quickly. "I didn't do it because I have to, I did it because I want to!" Once again, his mouth was moving faster than he could think. "I did it because I--" Finally, his brain caught up and he cut himself off abruptly. What in the world was he about to say? Falling silent, he looked down at the table, at the fruits of his efforts. He was trying so hard... but why? He wasn't much of a cook, but he had insisted on making a homecooked meal, which obviously didn't pan out so well. And where had it gotten him? He glanced from his own cursed meal to Usagi's relatively untouched plate... and he was hit with the urge to laugh.

"Usagi, I'm sorry," he broke into a smile, just barely holding back laughter. "Look at this mess, you must be starving." Standing up, he took his plate and dumped the lasagna into the trash. "Do you want to order a pizza or something? Something edible?" Finally, he laughed. He had been so silly -- why was he making such a big deal out of this? Something simple would have been better -- they could have just laughed and had a nice time, without all of this internal struggling. Why she was so patient with such a big idiot as himself, he had no clue.

[ooc: I think maybe it might be a good time to wrap it up in the next post or so? If you're okay with that. owo]

Was he telling the truth? Did he really do this simply because he wanted to? Usagi had never thought someone would want to go to such trouble for her, and yet here her friend was, doing just that. But what was it he was about to say before cutting himself off? She wanted to ask, but that would be terribly nosey. Oh, it probably wasn't anything anyway. She looked back down at her food, and began to pick at it again. Had he noticed that she hadn't eaten? She could only hope that he didn't. Maybe she'd take another bite, it could be better the second time, right? She doubted it, but picked up her fork anyway.

Fortunately, she was interrupted by her friend's apology and laughter before the fork had been brought to her mouth. She set the fork back down, and watched her friend as he dumped out his own plate. So he had noticed that she wasn't eating, but he didn't seem upset about it. The whole night had been so awkward, but for some reason Rory's laughter seemed to break that and she couldn't help but join in and laugh herself. "Pizza sounds good," she smiled.

((If you want we can just end it here and say they ate their pizza, laughed, and watched tv/did whatever if you want.))

Relieved that his friend didn't hate him for his terrible cooking, Rory ordered a pizza and the two of them ate on the cluttered couch in front of his ancient television. It was actually a nice time, despite the awkwardness of the start of the evening, and Rory said goodbye to Usagi feeling that their friendship was even more solid than ever, just as long as he never cooked lasagna again.
