Luka nodded slowly, watching as Shepard left the restroom. Luka could spot the gentle glow of Cesc's wings as the other entered the restroom as well. With the lights off, he was already feeling better. His head wasn't swimming as much, and... he could actually think again somewhat.
"Thanks." Luka said softly, feeling Cesc's hand on his arm. He didn't want to admit it, but Cesc's presence was still soothing, comforting. Funny how he wanted to be alone, and yet, he didn't.

"This is Jezabroux speaking. Who is this?" The acupuncturist's voice was surprising clear. The man had a habit of waking early for his daily morning swim laps. Today, he'd finished early.
He'd been enjoying a good cup of coffee and a bagel when his phone had begun to ring. It was a number he didn't recognize. Speaking of phone calls, it was almost time for Luka to call him too.

Shepard paced in the landing area, keeping one eye on the bathroom, one hand still in his hair. He couldn't seem to escape the discomfort, no matter how he paced and moved. He could see Vivi sitting in Cesc's bedroom, still talking to Alex, one hand over her mouth. She wasn't having an easy time with this, either.
"Hi, Elai, this is Shepard Ryan, Rhedefre's guardian," he began, his voice low and serious despite his attempts to sound normal. He didn't know why he was worried about frightening the man -- he had bad news. Frightened or not, the news was going to come out. "Listen, 'm sorry to call. Rhede found Luka this morning -- I haven't gotten the whole story out of them, but there's been some kind of accident, and Luka's been injured. He's awake, but he's got a pretty deep cut over his eye and down his face, and I'm fairly certain he's concussed. We called the Lab and we're going to take him in to get checked out and get some stitches, and I thought you might meet us there."

"Quite a surprise for you to be calling me this early in the morning." Perhaps that had been the first hint, the other being a nervousness in the man's voice. Taking a sip of his coffee, Jezabroux immediately stopped mid sip and set the mug back on the counter top as he heard the rest of Shepard's news. "Accident? Concussed?" The acupuncturist repeated before snapping out of the initial shock. "How bad is he?" The older man asked, already reaching for his car keys. Somehow, he was keeping calm. He knew that panicking would not make the situation any better or pass faster.
He checked the clock on the wall. It was still early morning; the roads would still be clear. With him speeding, he'd probably get to the lab in no time.
"Shepard, I'm going to my car. I'll meet you at the lab soon as possible. If you can update me on the status of his condition if something happens, I would appreciate that. Unless, you would prefer to stay on the line with me." Jezabroux was already out the apartment, rushing down the apartment complex stairs to his car. "And Shepard, thank you." There were other things he wanted to say, but he had the feeling the Australian would understand just how thankful he was for helping Luka right now. After all, Shepard was also a guardian.

"No, it's fine, it's nothin'," said Shepard, the hand in his hair sliding to the back of his neck, gripping the nape there. He saw Vivi put down her phone in the other room and slide out, jumping the stairs two at a time to find her purse. The time had come for them all to leave. "He's ... drowsy, and he's out of it, but I think he's gonna be alright. We'll meet you there, mate, be safe."
Shepard hung up the phone and let out an exhalation he felt like he'd been holding deep in his lungs. Then he pocketed his phone and gathered his car keys. He took the few short strides to the bathroom door and opened it gently, squatting down beside the two Raevans.
"C'mon," he said, putting out his arms. "It's time to go."
