"Holy crap that must've hurt like hell!" Yaholo gasped, eyes growing wide. How did she manage to cut herself so badly? Maaaan, he'd have to be careful! He nodded to the notion that it could be worse and turned back to his carving. Dark hands gripped the knife as if he were assured it was about to kill him, but little by little, the grip loosened into a comfortable position the more and more his whittled away without injury.

"Okay, maybe I'm not as bad as I thought I was." He said, smiling a little towards Winta. "How long have you been learning how to carve spears...?"

Winta nodded in agreement. "Yeah. Lesson learned though!" She laughed. It probably wasn't something to laugh about but it was better than beating herself up over a silly mistake. Certainly she shouldn't ever try to repeat it again. Nor would she. Hopefully. When Yaholo resumed his carving she took that as a sign to continue her own. It was a good sign. "I've been working on making a decent spear for a couple months." Winta admitted. Spears seemed to give her a great amount of difficultly at least when compared to smaller weapons. Stakes were extremely easy to make. "I'm teaching myself how to make them though. If I could find someone to teach me it would probably go much faster." At that she only shrugged a little. Not that she wouldn't mind a teacher but teaching herself had thus far been a fun experience. The wounds that came from it weren't as fun but with each one she gained a new respect for what she did and learned new lessons along the way. All in all it wasn't too bad.

Ah, so she was just learning how to make them. She was sort of like him, then! Aside from the fact that he didn't want to make spears, or carve anything really, he needed someone to teach him how to use the weapon of his choice. Which, right now, was what his father chose, a freaking bow and arrow. He frowned a little at the thought of having to go back to hunting in the morning, he felt like he had no purpose when he hunted! UGH. Couldn't he do something a little more useful?

"Aaah, you're doing much more than I am at the moment," He said, admiring the little carvings he was making as he spoke. "I have no idea what I want to be aside from getting the hell away from hunting. I appreciate what hunters do and why, but I want to be something a little more... Widely useful... You know?"

As Yaholo opened up a little bit to her she nodded in agreement. She could understand completely how he felt since Zoan, her grandmother, was trying to push her to be a jewelry maker or something of that sort. "I agree" Winta said, pausing a moment before she continued. "but a good warrior knows how to use a variety of weapons, right?" She added, giving the boy a smile. "I think hunting is a good way to practice hitting a moving target too." Winta thought of her parents who had been warriors before their death and when they weren't fighting they would go out hunting to keep their skills up to par. "I do understand what you mean though."

Since Yaholo had brought up his interest in weapons and from what she could tell, fighting, she decided it was a good idea to ask him what exactly he wanted to do. "Are you wanting to become a warrior?" Winta asked, continuing to carve her piece of wood.

Well, yes, hunting was a very good way to learn how to hit a moving target. However, firing arrows worked best if the target was further away, which meant your aim had to be absolutely spot on in order to land a hit. Yaholo's aim wasn't terrific, at least when things were running and were far away. Thus, hunting was best left to those with that certain special precision that helped them become snipers and rangers like his father. He gazed up to Winta again when she asked her question and shrugged his shoulders.

"I don't know," He said, pursing his lip. "I'm toying with the idea of becoming a Guard, but... I'm not sure what weapon from that class suits me best, yet."

Winta had no idea what to suggest to Yaholo since she was still new to making weapons. Her parents had used a variety but spears had been their favorite. Then again, when she was little they had long since wrestled with--and won--the battle Yaholo was now fighting with himself. "A guard." She said, trying to think of the sort of weapons they used. Again she was left with the thought that their was a large variety and narrowing it down would be a tough choice. "I'm not sure what weapon would be best for you but once I become an actual weaponsmaker I'll help you!" That was awfully far off though. Winta laughed lightheartedly. "Or just fix and make some new weapons for you." Maybe that was the best she could offer right now.

Winta stopped and admired her handy work. Still a ways off from perfect but the shaft of the spear looked a little less flimsy and more durable than the previous attempts. Winta felt a swell of pride grow within her chest. There was hope for her yet. She would become a weaponsmaker and she would prove her grandmother wrong for ever having doubted her or pushing her away from her passion. Her eyes lingered on the spear for a moment before they ventured a gander at Yaholo's. "How's it going? Gonna switch from being a Guard to making weapons?" She laughed once more, knowing the answer to her latter question.

Yaholo quickly shook his head and produced his mangled piece of wood with a rather sheepish grin. Nope, he would not be making weapons for anyone, not for eternity. While it may be a good way to let off steam, the carving aspect at least, it just wasn't something he felt secure doing. The thought of having a pair of gauntlets, a hammer, or even a shield in his arsenal, that made him feel secure.

"Naaah, that's your niche, Winta." He replied, chuckling. "I'm better suited for something else, but thank you very much for showing me that basics of weapon making, even if I nearly chopped my hand off."

Winta smiled and nodded as he showed off his handiwork. "You may have a point there." She said, not intending for it to be hurtful but making sure she showed that she was in agreement with him. Not that he probably couldn't improve if he worked at it. However, she knew that if you had a passion in something, turning away from it was impossible. Winta knew from her own personal experience.

"Well if you ever need a weapon, just come see me." She laughed. "I'll make sure to give you a discount." Winta gave him a friendly and playful wink. "You should stop by now and then and tell me how it goes!"

"I will, I will!" Yaholo replied, placing his carving attempt and knife upon the ground in front of him, before moving to stand. While he really wanted to stay longer and learn more, if he could, he knew his father was waiting for him back at home with dinner. What were they having? Aldabuck? He couldn't remember, that man was always bringing home strange things.

"I hope to see you around!" He exclaimed. "Especially if you have your own weapons shop, that would be amazing!"

"Yeah!" She said in agreement, happy to have possibly made a new friend and maybe even a customer. Of course she still had some ways to go but at least the end was in sight. Meeting Yaholo was like a recharging for her morale. "I'll make sure you're one of the first one's to know about my new shop." Winta decided then that she would probably stay a while longer and try to further hone her skills. "See you later!"
