Merde. Something was definitely.... not wrong, not exactly, but... uncomfortable? That was as good a word as any. It didn't flinch away from Calder's touch - the kelpie had earned that much, at least - but it did tense up a bit.

"The end result is what matters in healing, my friend," it said, after a moment. "If the healing is done, then the emotions involved do not matter so much. In a lifelong practitioner they do, naturally, but I will never need to hunt to survive. If I had to, I don't think I would be able to." Its beak worked for a moment, unsure where to go from here; it tentatively extended its empathy, trying to get a read on Calder's emotions for some guidance.

Mal is free to do whatever he wants. You have my permission if he wants to slap him or whatever.

Hunger.

That was the first emotion. A hunger that wouldn't be satisfied. Refused to be satisfied. It was a desire for something to be sedated that, no matter how much he came close, did not die away - nor did Calder want it to. There was also a heavy disappointment in what Malodore had said followed by a wave of boredom.

And then...

Calder's hands played with the skull that created a web across Malodore's chest, and plucked one of the strings as if they were a harp. "Christof and Barth in their labs. You and Riley in yours. I guess I should have expected this sort of answer from you and everyone." Longing. Sadness. Alienation.

Hunger.

Calder slid the hands from where he had settled it upon Malodore's chest and across it, never having ventured to actually try and sense what was under all those robes. "You don't feel like a skeleton. Is there meat on those bones?"

The onslaught of the sudden wave of emotions - so horribly unlike anything it had ever felt from Calder before - combined with the abruptly more intense, almost intimate physical touch... Malodore swayed on its hooves for a moment. It wanted nothing more than to tear free of the kelpie's grasp, but it wasn't sure how to do so without hurting Calder. "Don't," it said instead, the word grating a bit on the way out of its beak. "I am not made of meat. Release me, per favore."

Calder's hand stopped and then gripped the fabric possessively. Not enough to grab at anything underneath, but to hold the fabric like a scarling who was given a toy and then told to return it to it's owner. "Why? I was just asking a question. You ask me question after question. Why can't you just answer one of mine? I ask very little after all, and didn't you come here to tell me some good news? You still haven't answered that either."

Calder's grip remained firm.

"The exact physical makeup of my anatomy is a rather intimate question, don't you think?" Somehow, its voice remained level, but tension sang through its bones. "Why are you acting in this way, Calder? It isn't like you."

"How can you tell? I don't share much with you after all." It admitted, still holding Malodore's robes in it's hands.

"You've shared intimate information with me before. You shared a lot about your romance with Riley from the very start to now. Why is this question any different?" It loosened it's grip to smooth out the wrinkles and to resume testing what was underneath those robes. It felt bone, even some more fabric, but he couldn't gauge what else was underneath there.

"Because generally when I ask you not to do something, you stop," the plague doctor said sharply - and then those big metal wings snapped outward, shoving Calder away and probably giving him some accidental cuts in the process.

Malodore whirled about to face the kelpie, wings still extended; the spars trembled a little bit. Its empathy licked out again and again, trying to taste... something. Hoping it wouldn't find the grey, the Insanity - every other abrupt change in demeanor it had ever known had been caused by that. At least Calder wasn't using we... yet.

The cuts didn't bother him though it was surprised by the wings suddenly showing up into the picture. They seemed decorative most of the time that he didn't usually remember they worked. The cuts were nothing more to him than the same it acquired when running through the woods and being nicked by branches and shrubbery.

Hunger. Mild Anger. Playfullness. Intrigue.

"Well sometimes I don't WANT to stop." He looked at the wings and then back at Mal. "Sometimes I want to play. Sometimes I get bored playing nice and delicate around all of you." He reached out and gripped part of the wing in his hands that didn't look so sharp. "Metal?" He held tightly and tried to pull. "Are you like Christof? If I yank, do your bones go back to you? Will I find meat at the tip?" He looked at the undead before moving closer and bringing his other hand to Mal's hip to try and bring his body close. "Come on Mal. Tell me about your biology. You know so much about it."

Malodore snapped its wing back; fortunately for it, unfortunately for Calder, its wing structure was made of bloodmetal, not bone, and was not so easily snapped as all that. A cold, visceral anger rose in its mind. "You are not Calder," it hissed, every feather on its wings standing on end, pointing at the kelpie like arrows. "You will leave me be-"

And then it spread its arms, letting its FEAR flow out. A fog hissed away from it, a thick and foul miasma that sickened everything it touched, that would drop Calder into temporary illness - debilitating cramps of the stomach, possibly vomiting, with all the attendant symptoms. "Sono più di un fiammifero per voi," it spat, fury writ large in every movement.

The wave was fouler than any bog he'd ever been, with an a indescribable smell that had his sensitive animal senses overloading in seconds. Coughing, eyes watering, and nose-hairs singing, Calder backed up and covered his nose and mouth with both hands, glaring at the undead as he gasped for air. "I am -" He gagged, but moved back to block the way to the door.

Glaring, he rose up and fog started to billow around Calder's feet as he started to shift.

Anger still held the plague doctor in its grip, but it knew, with sick certainty, the tide of regret that would soon follow. Silently, without a word, it turned on one hoof and made for the door, leaving Calder to deal with the aftermath of what he had done.

It couldn't leave the monster dorms quickly enough.

Once Calder could breath again, he stopped attempting to shift and rose up, glaring at the open door and where Malodore left. "Party pooper. Probably doesn't even taste like chicken." He huffed, fixing his hair and looking around before kicking a pile of nearby bones.
