Psyche offers a hesitant smile towards the Valentine, aware that her request is unusual and in some circles, improper. "I apologize if I seem... too forward, or brazen. Its only that, well, I was raised to beauty and gentility and the finer qualities of life. Being away from everything and everyone I know has me... nervous. I'm not sure I could handle my fear of the dark -and- the nervousness of being alone in a new place at the same time."
She blushes from embarrassment, glancing away towards the softly sparkling shells lining the walls. When he begins to stammer over his own comment, she glances back, then moves towards him to lay a tiny fin against his hand, "And I do, I like my home very much, Sir Vincy. Almost as much as I like and trust my new protector."
Realizing that what she's said could also be deemed inappropriate, she flushes a bit more darkly, those symbols on her scales glowing as she struggles to retain her composure.

Vincy nodded and he swallowed hard again, forcing himself to just concentrate on being a good knight and protector. The small female had no idea what it was like in the real world, and she even had said as much himself, so there was nothing to worry about.
He counted slowly in his mind to five then gave another broken smile. "I know something to help...." He tapped his fingers on his gun a moment before glancing around. Like everywhere under the water there were small creatures that were able to get in and wander. Generally these were harmless, and lucky for him, the most abundant here were friends of a kind. Uke, a small phoenix who was also quite shy and couldn't talk normal at all had left behind some of his patients, starfish and urchins. Tapping one gently to wake it, he murmured. "As Uke if there are any gentle anglers in the area."
The Angler fish would be able to give some light when it got darker and would help against fear of the dark.
With the request made Vincy gently held out a hand for one of Psyche's fins. "Your room is this way..." He took note of the runes on the female's body and couldn't help but match them to some of the runes he had engraved on his gun. What did they mean if anything?

Psyche looks at him curiously when he mentions knowing something to help with her fear, watching him as though she expects he's about to impart some deep wisdom.
When he asks for an angler fish to be brought in, her face lights up in delight, "Oh! You -are- smart! I never even thought of that! Thank you so much, Sir Vincy. One more you prove to be the best choice for protector."
Reaching out, she lays a tiny fin in his hand, her trust in him implicit. Following him along, she notices the look he gives her runes and speaks quietly, "They were passed down to me through my father, who got them from his mohter, who in turn got them from her father... who is a Kreuger. They are runes of protection to our family... unfortunately, they do not work against others who share our blood."
She imparts this to him as if revealing a great and terrible secret, which it may well be for her family.

Vincy was glad she liked the idea of bringing in an Angler, for a moment he had a fear that she was going to say that she didn't like them or found them scary. Then he would have had to explain that they were all helped by Uke who had a way with wounded creatures and befriending them.
The runes though, they were surprising. Krueger runes. He thought he knew much of that family but this was a surprise. No wonder they were so cocky. Vincy nodded a bit then smiled. "Much like mine..." He held up his gun and showed how there were some carved deep in the metal. They made his shots go where he wanted and changed the property of them if he wanted to use elements.
Finally arriving at he bed rooms he pushed one door open to show a room fit for a princess. Shine, shimmer and decadence. It may have been too much for some but it was done so tasteful that it actually would fit most people. Vincy bowed and released her small fin to let her look around. "I hope.. its good."

Psyche glances up at him with a slight smile, "The runes passed on to my Krueger forebearer actually came from his Nekozawan father, who in turn received his from a simple clownfish... who is the first of his line and was created with the runes inscribed into his scales. The runes themselves are not inherently evil, but not everyone in family tree is inherently good, either." Yes, she's traced her lineage back to its very roots. It helps that the majority of those beta are still alive and well and living in the communal tanks of their owner.
She pauses at the door and gasps sharply, her eyes going wide, "Its... its..." she squeals in sheer joy, swimming quickly into the room and twirling herself about in dizzying circles until she falls over, giggling. "Its more than I dreamed... better than I dreamed. This is a room for a fairy princess and I love it!"

Vincy nodded at her information, taking it in. Apparently the runes were just runes, the magic or protection likely came through blood lines more than from the runes, unlike his own which were connected to the elements the runes depicted.
Watching Psyche cleared his mind of all of that though. She seemed so very happy with the room. It was more than he could have hoped. Bowing low again he gestured. "It is all yours, if something is missing or needed..." He just waved a hand to show that it would be found.
Turning from the room he moved back to the hall to go to his own. There was much he needed to do if he was going to live here as well, and part of it was to get a room ready for him. He hadn't even thought of making one in a way he wanted. There was one room though, it was dark and kind of gloomy, and it would do, despite him being rainbow there was still a darkness inside of him that the light just didn't seem to touch.

By the time Psyche glances up, he's departed the room, causing her to make a wobbly dash out to the hallway. "Sir Vincy!" She blushes almost immediately after the shout, ducking her head downward, those runes glowing yet again, "I'm sorry, I... I was going to ask if you'd like... I'm an accomplished cook... if you're hungry?"
She clears her throat and glances at him shyly, "I would like to take tonight's meal with you, if you are amenable..."

Vincy dipped back into the hall giving a slight nod, his lips again making the weird quirky almost smile. "I... would, thank you."
He knew the house was safe, of all places this was one that he was certain of the security, so there would be no harm of her wandering. His own room had a staircase leading to the basement, one that she could not get to without wandering in there. He kept the door open to his room though, letting her come past if she desired.
The room was done up in dark shades, like the deepest water and kelp forests, it had both a forbidding and a welcoming sense to it, the conflict that was inside of him put on the walls for all to see.
To care for this girl he would have to find his brighter and more open side, but he didn't know where it was. The biggest part of him was so locked deep down that he was unsure if he would ever be able to bring it to the fore.
As he thought he circled the room, shifting things around bringing order to the chaos, and chaos to the order. All in all he looked just as baffled as he felt.

Psyche smiles back and him and nods, "Is there..." she pauses as he heads into his own room. She moves to follow him, then pauses in the doorway. Its so dark in there... scary. She shivers lightly, her eyes moving to the brightest thing in the room. Him.
"Would... would you like an angler in here too?" she eyes flicker all around before going back to him, "Its so dark..." There's a tremor to her voice, the fear obvious on her face. Even so, she takes a few, tentative motions into the room, "Is there... is there anything special that you like to eat?"

Vincy couldn't help but notice that Psyche was scared and he reacted to it without even thinking, opening his cape and using it to bring her closer. "An Angler in here?" He hadn't thought about it, but he gave a bit of a nod. It would make sense so that he could see into some of the darker corners. He moved a bit toward a window, grabbing a cord and pulling it open so some light filtered in and gave at least some brightness other than himself.
He looked at the female again and lowered himself to the edge of his bed. "I eat anything.... I have no.. favorites." He let his lips quirk into something close to a smile then let himself relax.

Psyche flinches when the cape opens, but gladly moves in closer towards Vincy, seeking the protection of his form even against the darkness. She huddles up near his shoulder, the occasional tremble betraying her with the soft stroke of her ribbon against his neck. "You should.. think about it. One Angler can't light up this whole room but... you could at least see better. Have a.. a beacon, in the dark." A child's fear spoken through an adult's vocabulary.
She lets him move to the bed, knowing enough to stay put to keep them from starting a scandalous risk. "Do.. you don't have -any- favorites? Nothing at all? That seems... sad. Everyone should have a favorite something..."

How could Vincy even start to mention that he only ate in order to keep his energy up. Tasting his food wasn't something that he much bothered with. Not that he didn't want to, but he usually was in such a rush. He shook his head a bit then murmured. "Maybe I can get a favorite meal soon?" He then looked around the room again, trying to see it from her point of view.
"I will get an angler..." He didn't need one, but her fear of the dark was showing, and he at least knew enough that it would comfort her if she ever needed to come get him. He then rose again, guiding her to the door of the room, and from there to the kitchen where she could make the meal she wanted. He figured there was no harm in just watching her. Perhaps he could learn something from her skills.

Psyche stares up into his face, inwardly sad for him that he doesn't even have a favorite food. Firming her resolve, she promises herself that over the following time with him, she'll make enough varied foods that he'll be able to find one he likes above others. She smiles at him openly and nods, "Absolutely. And I'll help by making multiple dishes for each meal."
Following along after him, she enters the kitchen, glancing around, moving about to familiarize herself with the layout and where everything is. Turning towards him with a smile, she glances at his hands before chuckling, "Well. I know one thing you can certainly help with. Chopping up the greens! I'll bet you're versed in blades as well as guns, yes? And able to handle them much better than I could, too, I'll bet. So! If you don't mind helping out, would you mind chopping up some greens while I get the rest ready for cooking? I was thinking perhaps some sea cucumber soup with a light salad. Then maybe some lightly broiled clams... and I think I can whip up a quick sorbet for dessert."

DJ is making her rounds through the tank, bopping around to her own beat, mouth moving along to some song only she can hear. Her fins shine and shimmer, the star on her side sparkling in the light of day and enhancing the oilslick darkness that makes up the majority of her scales.

Vincy watched as Psyche started to move around the kitchen like one who has been in many before. He personally was not really all that comfortable with this room. There were many things he didn't understand about cooking and he had been witness to several foolish accidents that happened to others that decided they would prove how expert they were. In once case a beta ended up with no eyebrows.. amusing but not all together something he desired to try for himself.
The princess was comfortable and it showed that she had been around the kitchen before, though not this one. He nodded as she gestured to the greens she wanted him to cut, and he fell too it with Zeal. Perhaps too much zeal actually. He minced vegetables down to sad fragments of their former grace. He also cut things that would not work in salads... like some very bitter leaves. Not knowing his errors he kept chopping and mixed all the food into one bowl.{Cue Jaws Music: Enter... Sunstrike } Speed, Grace.. danger. All of those words could match the mindset of Sunstrike. His father's anger led him to leave his home early to keep from being eaten. His mother's passiveness well, it didn't help much either. His poor siblings were named to be food. What kind of twisted life was that?
A way of life for him was to travel unseen, to keep others from noticing him so that he was saved from being attacked. There in the not so distant... er.. distance, was a female who was making noise, being very noticeable. How could she feel safe like that? He feared that shimmering of his own scales and the attention they drew. She had that shimmering star and it must cause trouble as well. He just didn't know if he should point it out.
