This was not good. He could hear the sounds of people coming after him, but before he could duck behind something, he knew he had been spotted.

Shard it all.

Any ideas?

His dragon grumbled. I told you this was a bad idea. He was silent for a moment, and then finally answered seriously. Perhaps you could be a distraction while the rest get the job done.

Yeah. That might work.

Fi'o

As Fi'o was already well aware, stealth was not her strong suit. Her strong suit was beating the crap out of people. So she wasn't entirely surprised when she made jsut a little too much noise and aroused suspicion; she was prepared for that eventuality, though, and was fortunate enough to evade detection.

Mine? Mine, are you okay? Do not let them find you!

I'm fine, Ive, they didn't find me. Now hush.

Hushing!

Kesin and Kesisk

Maybe Kesin had been overconfident about this mission. She'd certainly underestimated just how much noise Kesisk could make without meaning to, and her attempts to help matters hadn't actually helped any. They were soon being actively searched for, and Kesin knew that her best chance to avoid capture without cuasing further alarm was to split from Kesisk - the gold wher was the larger target, after all.

But what would they do to her precious Kesisk? The young handler hesitated, putting a hand on her partner's shoulder, then told her sadly, Go. Stay away from the bad people if you can, but don't fight. Please.

The request was met with understanding and affection, and while Kesin fled toward the mine, Kesisk tried and ultimately failed to remain hidden.

D’lek breathed a sigh as more of the wherholders made it to the mine entrance I made it Tennath, so far so good. He then followed the lead of the others, going to the storeroom and opening some of the smaller boxes along one wall. A small smile escaped as he opened the boxes he'd selected, they were practically filled to the brim with bandages, and he quickly pocketed as much as he could safely carry.

None of his options seemed particularly appealing. He could run, he could fight, or he might be able to talk his way out of things.

And if that failed, fighting was still an option.

E'lov took a breath, and then stepped out to where the ones approaching him could see him. If he was going to be captured, he was going to do this his way.

(Bonus +1 = 12 +1 = 13)
Taking option 2: to be captured and cover for your comrades (roll 1d20 and add the bonus of the character's best Dialogue skill))

While searching for E’lov, the whers – one blue, one green – spotted Dinsk as well and let out a roar of alarm. There was an intruder! The humans accompanying them shouted, waving their torches with vehemence as they split. One set went after Dinsk, the other went after E’lov, leaving F’io free to head into the cave late.

The light from the torch of the blue pair reflected off Kessisk’s golden hide and the blue reared, hissing as his eyes flashed red. Two whers! Two stangers!? He huffed and growled, teeth bared as the camp began to wake properly at the cries of intruders. The bluehandler was having trouble keeping the blue controlled as he stamped and gouged the ground upon finding two foreign females in his territory. They weren’t meant to be here!

Meanwhile, the green pair approached E’lov warily, the torch held between them as the green flanked the rider. The dark outfit made him hard to see in the shadows despite the flickering light of the torch. “Who are you? Why are you here?” The green hissed, bunched up and ready to pounce if her handler gave the order.

For those in the cave, the sound of the camp waking to intruders was their signal to get moving. Calls of ‘whers!’ and ‘intruder’ did much to inform them of the situation - they were not spotted yet, there was still opportunity and the ‘intruder’ was buying them precious time. Inward, the main entrance branched into three main arteries (Left, Right, and Straight) that branched into further arms deeper in the rock. A map was posted to the wall, showing two other exits to the north and south and a rough illustration of the tunnel layouts.

Their work would begin here. The supports in the rock, the seams of firestone and the associated gases and coal would burn magnificently. It was just a matter of finding the weak points to set the charges, and then a race to light the fuses afterwards.

Instructions
Kessisk and Dinsk: You’ve been spotted and the blue is challenging you. You face a blue wher and a human. Stats and combat description are below.
Creature – HP – Attack - Dodge
Green Wher - 35 - 1d6 - 1d8
Gold Wher - 60 - 1d10 - 1d4
Human - 30 - 1d4 - 1d10
Blue Wher - 40 - 1d6 - 1d6
Each character gets 1 action per turn/post (attack, dodge, use item, or re-arm)
If you choose to attack, roll the indicated dice. The result is the damage dealt to the targeted opponent.
If you choose to dodge, roll the indicate dice. The result is how much damage is avoided from the incoming attack.
Once HP hits zero, the character is unconscious (or dead, as per player’s choice).
(Example: Green wher rolls 5 on 1d6 for an attack against Blue. Blue wher rolls 4 on Dodge, and thus [5-4=1] takes 1 damage to HP, resulting in an HP of 39)

E’lov: 13 versus 6. Your Dialogue skill is high enough against the individual (who is not very bright, apparently) that you can successfully lie to the Miner. He is suspicious of you and wants to take you in for questioning. What do you say?

Everyone else:
Once inside, character must set charges that will destroy the mine upon detonation. Each character (human) has 2 tries. Each try: roll 1d20 (Add bonus from Stealth; Tools); 16-20 found a great spot, 9-15 mediocre, 2-8 bad, 1 critical failure.

50% must have great within those two tries; is yes then all charges are set and they can leave, if no trigger boss fight.

There are cosequences for critical failures.

Rilli and Risk
((Attempt 1: 11))

Where should I put this big guy? Rilli let Risk guide her in the dark... but neither were miners, or trained in the locating of firestone veins. Hell, Rilli had barely seen the stuff outside of the sacks riders carried it in. She just had been uninterested, even as a child.

In the end, Rilli settled for the support beam overhead. Fire was fire after all. If something was flammable it'd catch. It may not have been the best place, but shaff if she cared. She just wanted to be out of there before someone else set this place ablaze, or they got trapped by the miners outside.

((5+2 = 7 bandages))

V'ell hurriedly ransacked the storerooms, grabbing whatever she could find without paying much attention to what it was. As a result, she didn't get much in the way of bandages, not compared to the amount that some others had collected. But before she could go back for another try, it was time to set the charges.

Well. That at least she felt she could handle with no trouble.

Try #1

D’lek hurriedly put the boxes he had pillaged back on their shelf when he heard the cries of alarm, Time to put theory to practice! D’lek studied the map of tunnels, doing his best to memorize the layout of the mine, he’d prefer knowing his was to an escape route. He grabbed his two charges and looked to the others that had made it, “I’ll head North.” So saying he headed for the mine shaft winding left, hoping that it would take him to a viable location.

As he moved deeper into the mines, way lit by a small glow, he marveled at the mine’s construction. It was eerily quiet, with just the sound of echoing footsteps and his beating heart to keep the time. He ran one hand along a vein of firestone in the wall, such a valuable resource and they were just going to burn it. Well, he would do his best to work effectively and efficiently before anyone could get hurt. He found a likely spot for his first charge, setting it up at the base of a stone column at the junction of two inner branches.

Kesisk - Attacking Blue Wher
60/60

Another wher dared to challenge her? Kesisk snarled back at him, mantling crooked wings and staring him down. She sent an inquiry and an image of the situation to her handler, and quickly received a reply: Get 'em, Kesi! But don't talk!

Yes! She would get him! She clicked at her green fellow and indicated that she should take the bad person while she handled the bad blue, and lunged at the enemy wher.

Dinsk - Attacking Blue's Handler
35/35

A fight, yes! Better than sneaking, even better than crunchy firelizards! Dinsk spat out what would have been a most delicious snack, and growled low at the blue and his handler. She lashed her tail in annoyance at the gold who presumed to tell her what to do, but...it would be more fun to bite the human than the other wher, she decided.

The pale green swiped at the bad handler, eyes blazing red and yellow.

Fi'o
Attempt #1 - 9+0=9

Fi'o took a moment to collect herself when she reached the relative safety of the mine; that had been close, and clearly others had had more than jsut a close call, if the sounds filtering in from outside were any indication. Shards, they had better be quick about this!

The brownrider headed left and looked for a spot to put her charges, and soon found a decent place, but not ideal. Surely she could find somewhere better than that, maybe if she took her time...

Dinah
Attempt #1, 3-1=2

Dinah could feel the surge of excitement from Dinsk as the green was confronted and chose - inevitably - to fight. There was no way she could get her to stand down when she was this far away; her bonded would fight, and who knew what the outcome would be? Worry gnawed at her as she headed straight and searched for a likely-looking place to put her charges, but she was simply too distracted to concentrate fully on the task at hand, and her chosen spot was far from a good one.

"I'm F'iar of blue Solath and I've been sent to warn you guys," E'lov said, the hint of urgency in his tone. "A gold wher that we recently captured managed to escape while she were being transported. We're warning all of the holds and mines in this area to be on the lookout."

It seemed like a reasonable scenario, though he wasn't sure if the dragonriders were capturing whers or not. He was sure that they wouldn't be able to resist a gold though, if just to breed whers for themselves.

"I don't mind answering your questions," he commented, with a slight grin. "But if we could keep it short, I'd appreciate it."

Kesin
Attempt #1, 16-1=15

Oh, Kesisk, her poor Kesisk! Kesin winced internally as she felt her wher lunge froward to fight another. At least it was just a blue, surely she would bring it down with no trobule! But if others joined the fight against her...

No, she couldn't afford to think like that now. She needed to find a place to set ehr charges, and find one she did. While it was suitable, however, it wouldn't do the job as well as she liked.
