Stormy turned contemplative once more, fingering the teacup idly. Kindness in this amount was odd for her to deal with; in pieces and little bites was fine, but this felt like she was . . . how to explain? Almost too much? She didn't feel like she deserved it, the way she'd been acting. "That makes sense," she said at length with a small nod. "People. I'm trying to make friends, but it's a little hard sometimes . . . M'sort of weird."

But Candace was right: Better to focus on prevention than actual Death itself. And that much netted a more firm nod from Stormy.

"You know Mr. Jerry?" she suddenly asked, brightening. "I saw his piano; he let me play it a little a while back!" Yes, this was good, yes~ Stormy gave her a grateful look now that she knew it had been her gift, setting the cup down to actually reach out and take Candace's hands to wiggle emphatically. "That was very, very nice of you," she proclaimed with the first smile since they began talking. "Thank you, Miss Candace! Can I ask for the iPod soonish? I promise I will work hard to get a piano of my own in the meantime." It was a silly goal, but it was better than thinking about what was wrong all day. Actually she felt very silly overall, which was probably just the side effect of launching from being morose to rekindling her love for music.

Candace chuckled. "We're all a little weird, darlin'. I think you're just fine." And she wasn't at all biased. Nope. Not at all. Though she did genuinely like Stormy so far, she seemed like a sweet girl. A bit closed off, but nice. She didn't seem like a troublemaker or anything.

Suddenly Stormy was more excited than she had ever seen the girl. She was even smiling. It seemed she either really liked Jerry or she really liked music! Well, both were good. She laughed and let Stormy take her hands, giving the girl's an affectionate squeeze and watching her get so excited. It was adorable! "Ah, really? That's great! Yes, Jerry and I go way back. I gave him the guitar he carries everywhere, too." A decision she was sure a lot of people hated her for. "And of course, I can bring it by later today if you'd like. And I can help you get a piano of your own if you'd like." Stormy had a very nice smile. Was there a way to get her to do it more often? Candace hoped so.

"Tell me what else you like, Stormy. I want to learn all about you." Why not take advantage of her current improvement in attitude?

The beaming that had been occurring--her own piano!-- dimmed with hesitation at Candace's last few words. "All about me? Um..." That was a tricky topic. On the one hand, Stormy was inclined to talk after that burst of positivity, but on the other not a lot of it was positive to talk about, she thought. Desummoning the greatsword back into ring form, she sat her cup down, pushed her knees up, and hugged them lightly to her chest.

"I'm not very interesting to talk about," she replied, somewhere between sheepish and factual in tone. "But, um...I really like Disney? Like I know all sorts about it people don't often know, which is dumb because nobody cares that Dinah is the name of Alice's cat, or that there are Hidden Mickey's in most of their themeparks...Sometimes I forget names too, so I use Disney character names to help me!" she chirped. "Like, um, Miss Ami is Cap'n 'cause she's like businessy like Captain Amelia from Treasure Planet, and Evan--he's my Sun bro-- Evan's Hercules 'cause he's tall and strong and the sun thing and all."

Oops. Stormy didn't like talking about herself? But why? Was it shyness? Modesty? Candace wanted to know. She seemed like a sweet girl, why wouldn't Candace want to know more about one of her Mists? She needed to know them, to know how to approach their training. Some could take a little more than others.

"Oh, I'll be the judge of that," Candace told Stormy when she claimed not to be interesting. Disney, noted. She may have liked the external mission she'd gone on with Rep and Jordan to Disney after hours then. A shame she wasn't a hunter at the time! She probably couldn't get back there, there hadn't been any kind of update on the place. Any problems they were having seemed to be resolved. "Aw, I think that's sweet," she told her sincerely when Stormy seemed to settle down. Sun bro? Cute, very cute. Candace was smiling, she looked genuinely interested in what Stormy was saying. "If you gave me a Disney nickname what would it be?"

It was easier to smile hearing that Candace approved rather than condoned her strange obsession. "Sweet? Really?" Stormy made a small chirpping sound and smiled bashfully, tilting from side to side in thought.

"Hmmm . . . Um, normally I wait until I sorta know someone before trying," she admitted. "N-Not that I don't know you! I, um, I mean I do a little but not . . . enough . . . ?" That didn't sound bad, right? She didn't want to deny the older hunter something as small as a nickname, but they were special titles that needed careful thinking! "If I had to pick now, though . . ."

She tilted her head and regarded Candace with an owlish look of concentration.

"Hmm . . . I'd say Jasmine. You're a top rank, um . . . You care for trainees like me like a mom--Jasmine didn't get to do that a lot in the movies, but on the tv show she definitely did. You're also, um . . . willful." That sounded better than "stubborn". "Jasmine didn't want any of the suitors her father gave her, and she wanted to live a life outside of the castle and be free--she even defied the sultan to do it. And, uh, I noticed at the parties and Twitter and stuff you do what you want when you want it, and . . ." Stormy wiggled in place before ducking half of her face behind her knees. "You look like a princess to me."

"Oh? Well, I would hate to rush you." Candace blinked. She understood, they had only met enough times that Candace could count it on one hand, and most of those times they hadn't had time to really get to know one another. This was the first time the two of them actually had a chance to sit down and just talk.

But Stormy had a thoughtful look on her face, and Candace found herself very curious what the girl was thinking about.

Jasmine. Candace gasped with quiet delight and sat up straight, a warm smile on her face. Like a mom? For someone who didn't think she had any maternal instinct that was a pleasant surprise to hear! She did vaguely remember the tv show, and she could kind of see it. She'd actually preferred when Jasmine had had her memory erased and joined the dark side. The 'willful' comment got Stormy a look of amusement.

Stormy had her at Jasmine, she won her eternal affection at 'you look like a princess'. "I really like that assessment, Stormy. Thank you. Man, I wish you'd been here when I was sent on a mission to Disney World after hours, I think you'd have loved it."

She flushed with pride and wiggled happily. "You're welcome~" she cooed. "And I meant it too--"

But then Stormy had to stop because she heard two magical words that made her go quite still and wide-eyed like a child. It took a moment to process, but when it finally hit, her hands fell to her sides and her knees slowly slid back to the floor, as if pushed by the growing pressure of elation building within the trainee.

"Y-You . . . You went . . . to . . ."

Disney World Disney World Disney World Disney World Disney World DIDNEY WORL--

Oh my god she's so cute. Candace had to work really hard at not laughing at how absolutely precious Stormy was just then. She also had to listen in closely when Stormy's voice became kind of difficult to understand.

She got the gist of it though.

"I can take you sometime, I'd be happy to. We could go to any of the Disney parks you'd like to see." Candace's smile was warm. "Under one condition~?"

Her eyes could not possibly get any bigger, Candace. "A-Any?" Stormy parroted back with awe. "Ohmygosh . . . Ahhh, ummm, what's the condition?"

How high did you want her to jump?

"It won't be until after we get some training done. I want to help you and the other Mists, I care about all of you and I want you all to succeed. But I'm new to this so I need you guys to help me help you, okay? I'm going to call for everyone soon, but I want to spend time with you all individually as well." Candace smiled. Stormy looked so excited. "And yes, any. My treat. I've only been to Disney World, and I was a little kid so I don't remember remember it too well," Candace didn't count the mission, "so it'd be fun to go again, or to any of the other parks. You game~?"

So let's get this straight: all she had to do was train with Candace and the other Mists, which she would have done for free anyway (especially since Candace was specializing in that area), and she'd get to go to Disney. World.

"I've never been," she whispered, still astounded by the offer. "Not to Disney Land, not to Disney World, or Euro Disney, or anything..." And now it was being offered to her practically on a silver platter. Sure, Stormy could have simply used one of her vacation days to go, but it wasn't right to go to a place like that alone.

She nodded her head so enthusiastically it looked ready to fly off, bouncing in place with glee. "I'm so game I can play for two!" she announced. "Eeeee, thank you~!"

Candace's smile grew simply from watching Stormy. She was so nervous, she had never trained anyone on anything except..cheerleading. This was not going to be like being the captain of her high school cheerleading squad. This was essentially life or death; if she didn't train them well they or others would die. Stormy's excitement over the whole thing helped ease her anxieties for now. "You can even invite a couple friends if you'd like, or we can just take the Mists. Your passion, your choice."

When Stormy started nodding, Candace couldn't help but laugh and reach out to gently hold her head with both hands. "Your head is going to fall off if you keep doing that. I'm glad you're excited, and you're welcome. I think I want to try and focus on the things that bother you, is that okay? So you can see you're doing nothing wrong. Have you ever done the Mist tower before?"

"But my head is like a bouncy ball, Miss Candace: it's the stuff of children and durable," Stormy explained with a final, sagely nod. But then she had to pause because it was only then that she realized she actually . . . hadn't . . . done the Mist specific training . . . Oh gosh.

Turning a little embarrassed, she went on to admit, "I've done Sun, Moon, and Life. I, uh . . . forgot to do Mist somehow.
Sorry." Between missions and attempting to learn how to be a social creature when she wasn't locking herself in her room to erase such progress, it must have slipped her mind, which . . . wasn't really an excuse either way. Crap.

Like a bouncy ball. Oh god, you get Stormy relaxed and she was just too precious for words. Candace laughed at her assurance about the strength of her neck. She would adore this young lady even if she wasn't in Mist division, she was just so sweet.

"Don't worry, I'll do it with you. It's easy. There's four parts to it, one for every other division. It begins with a small clearing, like Sun, and then progresses up the tower to a less life threatening version of the Deathsweeper. Once you cross that, you have to free your princess from her shackles and then protect her as you carry her back down the tower to the starting point." See? Easy! No big deal for a Mist. "I can do it with you or I can supervise it, your choice." If Stormy had any problems she would jump in and help her, the training was for her benefit mostly, but she could also show her how it was done beside her.

Stormy listened to the explanation intently, remembering the runs she had for the Sun and Moon; she'd managed the first time around on both but...Well, as long as there wasn't a Jenga Tower, she'd be okay.

"Um, can you supervise?" she asked Candace once she finished speaking. "I want to see how I do without help, since a Mist needs to be self-sufficient and all that...And I've been relying on people instead've doing things myself." It was a hard habit to break. "Even if I'm not a good leader," Stormy added in an undertone, eying herself critically. "That's okay, right? I'm much better following orders anyway, though Thane disagrees..."
