Dakota spied a Mimsy...Creeping over to her, he wrapped his arms around her shoulders and whispered into her ear...
"Don't look so down Mimsy....I'll be there to make sure you don't get into trouble..."
Because that was probably very reassuring to Mimsy. VERY.

Startled by the weight of someone's arms on her shoulders, Mimsy jumped and almost slipped out of her chair. Oh, damn everything; she recognized that voice. She wiggled and jabbed backwards with her elbow, with a noise of protest.
"I have been quite capable of caring for myself for longer than you have existed," she grumbled, her thoughts drifting to the notes on a lab table she'd so carelessly assumed would be just fine until she got back. She really needed to learn how to write in code.

Robert's dead body held out his little booties. Cass could have them, he didn't care. He had a box of 100, and he also to lay on this floor, which did not require shoe booties. A face bootie would be nice though. He slapped Gale's foot away, and then Maddie's, groaning when nobody wanted to just leave him alone to die. "Godddddddddddddd," He growled out, flipping over and laying on his back for a moment. Then he flailed his arms and legs in a hissy fit, and got back up.

She would've slipped had it not been the tightening of the man's arms around her shoulders. Oh man, he really liked how she got all tensed up though, and that brisk tone. Even the slight elbow jab to his side to make him let her go. It was obvious that his presence bothered her, and well...He always loved to bother people, Mimsy not exempt.
"I've existed a long time baby." He cooed, letting her go to chuckle and helped him to the seat next to her. "We agreed on the first part of that deal didn't we? Friendship for starters, I'm still open to sex but since the idea mortifies you well..." he grinned and then laced his hands behind his neck, watching her. "Whatcha working on?"
Chama wisped in his brain.
Because she's cute.

Harrison warily pocketed his hairnet.
He'd been doing double duty this month, cafeteria and infirmary repairs, and cafeteria had the benefit of being paid work, at least. Mission, too, meant extra pocket money. And boy did they need it.
Harrison would have been fine with a June wedding, kept it on-island, used folding chairs, rented tuxes and never returned them, cut off the rest of their expenses at a box of cake mix.
Rep had some different expectations.
And since their budget had taken a stern dip into no man's land (jail, damages, paycuts), that put the realistic time period for a ceremony at around 2020.
Harrison sucked some of the mystery gravy from his thumb before tossing his ladle near the sink and hanging an apron that had probably never been washed back on its hook. Cooking devices he knew how to use were as follows: Spoons. Microwaves. Recently, Cans. Those were new. He'd learned everything he knew from TV Dinners.
He held out a hand to Rep, apparently expecting something.
"Where we headed?"

Ryan had slipped in earlier and was perched on a chair near the back, trying to avoid most of the commotion when Sam pointed at them all. Officially recruited them on a mission. Which to be honest, didn't surprise him in the least. After all, there were few reasons they would all have been summoned like this as a group, other than for missions, of course.
But horsemen hot spots? He wasn't really looking forward to it. His last encounter with them had been... well, unpleasant to say the the least. But it was their job. It wasn't like he could avoid it forever, as much as he'd like to. Fortunately this time, he wasn't alone and he had Locke back.

Rep fished in his shirt pocket - because no sentient being deserved a trouser pocket - and handed over B0nez. He pushed the plate away with a finger, it was a real shame he couldn't finish it. "Horseman hotspots they said." His expression turned a little more grim. "And you know the hottest horseman hotspot on the whole ******** planet. I guess that's where they mean."
Life or not, he didn't intend to leave Harrison's side if they got roped into the sahara, not after Jordan, not after everything else. "I'm hoping they mean like. Somewhere nice. With a chinese takeaway place nearby."

Kat had been sitting off in the corner of the room, close to one of the windows with a coffee in hand when the two death hunters appeared. Taking a rather large sip of her coffee, she resisted the urge to raise her brow when they demanded their attendance for a mission. Horsemen hotspots, huh? So it was safe to assume, that whatever this mission was, it would have something dealing with that race.
Stretching out her legs, she leaned forward, waiting quietly for more information to be given on the said mission.

Harrison's expression dropped.
"Could mean that," he said in a gruff but unusually small voice.
His hand tightened around B0nez's flashdrive. He looked at it gloomily.
Ugh. Great. More D/Cing. Just when I was about to get excited. You know how long it's been since we've done some serious PVP? A while, that's how long. I bet I even have the seconds log. We can't even spar Rep, mono e mono, and that is a serious crime against my need for things that are not you being unable to use an electric can opener.

For once, Mimsy thought that she might have preferred falling. Svensyl made a noise of thrilled approval when Dakota held her more tightly, and a noise of intense sadness when he pulled away. Jaw clenched, she straightened her glasses and pressed her thumbs into the edges of the table in front of her.
"I am not your baby, and I am almost certain that you are younger than I am." She glanced sidelong at him to ensure that he was still sitting next to her at not moving to approach her again before she continued, refusing to dignify a portion of his words with a response. "My current side project is an attempt to compile a solution that might better highlight molecular bindings and structures in FEAR-based organisms so I can determine whether or not there is any compatibility between those structures and the bonds one might find in dark matter, at which point I could reference theories on both hot and cold dark..." Stopping herself, she closed her eyes and took a deep breath.
"I am not accustomed to small talk. I am well aware that none of that made sense to you, and that you did not actually care, so what do you really want?"

"You know you get super sexy when you start talking science to me Babe." Dakota laid his hands out in front of him like a innocent bystander. he didn't have anything to be guilty for...yet.
"So what you're saying is that you're trying to find some sort of...balance between FEAR inside dark matter which is the substance in space that makes it space?....." Okay he was smiling and very confused. His limit of knowledge on dark matter was that it was a unknown substance that was the universe...or held the universe. Factor X or something.
"Well sure, but its something YOU like to talk about, even if I don't understand. And we're going on a mission Mimsy, the more we talk to each other, the better our friendship becomes and the more accepting of my help you'll apperciate when we get on the field."

A little trainee yawned as she entered, skirting the walls to miss most of the throng. Stormy was not very good at leaping in where commotion was going on, preferring to sneak instead. Or, well . . . glide along blissfully unaware. Dakota received a pat on the arm in passing as did Mimsy as their conversation completely went over her head; just a quick greeting so as not to interrupt their Very Important Conversation™. But to make friends, one had to touch people apparently? That's what she was learning.
Sliding up next to fellow Mist Nevada, she flopped into her seat, crossed her arms atop the table, and tilted her head against them. "Are hotspots really hot?" Stormy asked curiously, her eyes half-lidded still from the nap she had been taking. Ami wasn't kidding about the workload . . . Great work, really, but tiring too. "Should we do something specific to prep?"

Dakota jumped at first by the touch and then smiled as Stormy passed by. Then back to Mimsy reply because he was sure it was gonna be good.
---
Nevada had propped herself up nicely on the table when Stormy came over and smiled at the girl. "I'd think so but it could be slang for a large gathering of the horseman? You know like ground 0 means the area where heavy battles are going? Hotspot could be anywhere that is a large location of horseman gathered...?" She yawned. "At least that's what I would take it as...."
She blinked and then nestled into her coat, debating on if she should get runic weapon before the leave.
Toooooooo much effort.
"I'd run and grab runics but...running is too much and this seems to be on the fly mission..." She slid her gaze over to Stormy, "I guess we just go in and handle it from there yeah?"

Really? Mimsy sighed in frustration and did her best to consider that he did actually look like he was trying to understand what she was saying. It was a greater effort than most might put forth, and even if he was nowhere near the calibre of intelligence she wanted from a conversational partner, she was stuck here with disappointingly slim options. "I can put forth the effort to explain concepts to you, but I request that you refrain from disingenuous statements. I do not need those sorts of comments to 'open up' or whatever end they usually achieve. You can assess everything from me at face value. That said: your understanding of dark matter is just slightly incorrect, but the important part is that I hope to find an...anchor. I need a control to compare with the information I gather here, and physics is what I know best." As Stormy touched her in greeting, she reflexively jerked her arm towards her body, settling down again when she could be sure it wouldn't happen again. "We may be working together, but there is no friendship to improve. I do not make friends. I suppose you could consider me your friend if that aids you in some way - just expect no reciprocation."

Tuck was there, clutching the largest mug of coffee that he'd been able to find. Smothering a jaw-cracking yawn with his free hand, the Moon kept to himself, bleary-eyed and half-asleep.
It'd been a rough, restless night, and he'd been on his way to bed when someone had pointed at him with stern instructions regarding a mission.
It was obvious by his stance that he'd rather be anywhere but there.
