She listened anxiously as he talked, probably the most he'd said thus far all in a single stretch. The more he spoke, the more reassured she felt. At news she could live with him, her innocent heart rose with happiness. Oh, she had no illusions about the relationship. It wasn't like she was coming to be hist mate, no no. That would be silly. No, she'd just serve him in the things he... didn't do himself? She was still a little foggy on that, but her faith in him was limitless. Her ears perked back up, and the spring returned to her step.

"Oh, you would do that for me?" she asked delightedly, much like a cub offered an outing. "I could stay with you, and you'd protect me?! What a wonderful friend you are! I think I can help out, if you show me what to do," she continued earnestly. "I learn fast, as long as you don't want me to roam too far." A glance over her shoulder towards the open roguelands with a rueful expression indicated how aware she was of her shortcoming in that area. "What is... my new home called?" She tilted her head up at him again, eyes all wide and expectant and hopeful.

"If you like," he answered with a shrug, thinking to himself that this lioness had no concept of the value of things. He was getting a thrall for the price of a drink of cold glacier water. That was just...ridiculous. A part of him, the part that had been trained as a skald, wanted to compose a funny lay about the whole thing, but he ignored it. He was a reaver, not a poet!

"It would be good to have the help."

"These lands belong to the Stormborn. In our own language the pride is called Myrsky Syntynyt, but that's difficult for outlanders - people who weren't born here - to get their tongue around, so we mostly just use Stormborn." He was being too complicated, he realized. This was a simple lioness. She thought they were entering into a friendly arrangement.

"And what are you called?" he asked. Probably he should find that out. He could always call her something else, pretend it was a nickname or something, but it'd be good to know what she was actually called first.

Ever able to make positive what life presented her, she took his complicated answer and distilled it. Stormborn. That was an odd name, but she accepted it willingly. "My name is Asha'mre, but usually I just call myself Asha," she replied cheerfully, then looked a little shocked as she realized she didn't know his name either. "What should I call you?" she asked politely, whiskers spread with interest. She knew that she would be what was called a thrall, and that he was a fighter, but was any of that a title, or just a job? She supposed she'd find out. "Do any other thralls do work for you?" She wasn't sure if she hoped so or not. It would be nice to have company, but then again, she wanted to do the job for him, not share it!

Just about then, though, her tongue stuck to the roof of her mouth, reminding her about the whole reason they had so fortuitously met. "Is the water near now?" she asked, a little plaintively. She most definitely needed a drink!

Asha was a good name. There had once been a captain named Asha and she'd been an unholy terror. For a Stormborn it was an auspicious name. At least it was for a freeborn, and there was nothing wrong with it as a name for a thrall. He grinned.

"It's nice to meet you, Asha. I'm Snorri, a reaver." The grin remained. If only all thralls were so easily acquired. Of course, it wouldn't be very impressive if they all were like Asha.

"You'd be the only thrall in my den," he told her, unsure whether that was something she would like or dislike. "But it's spacious, so you'll have your privacy."

He had no intention of using her as some freeborn used their thralls. That was just...low. Which reminded him that he did have a responsibility to her, and he'd promised her water. Well, actually her question reminded him of that, but either way! Water!

"The path's much steeper here, and there are pebbles, but we're nearly there," he reassured her.

Ah, that was the fighter title! Reaver. That also meant thrall was a title too! She did a little jig before settling back down to padding beside him. She'd be Thrall Asha to Reaver Snorri. She nodded in a highly satisfied manner, and flashed a smile at him as he guided her. Water soon, then a spacious den, someone to watch out for her, and a whole new group of people to meet! Her life had taken a sudden and fortunate turn when she'd met this big stranger. With a contented smile, she obediently followed him up the steep path and to her new forever home, the Stormborn!
