She breathed deeply and happy that Darrian understood her so well. His touch was so tender and so soft even if she didn’t feel love she doubted she would ever want to leave his side. It was strange he was this comfort for her but still if he ever did find love she would never want to hold him back. “I’ll say the same for you because who knows how long it will take for me to sort myself out.” She laughed ruefully and leaned to him. She sighed gently and happy being near him. “You know I can’t believe how lucky I am.”

Darrian laughed gently, "I can't believe how lucky I am to have found you. I love your children as my own, I hope you, and they, know that." He said lovingly, tucking her under his wing. He frowned for a moment, "I know you don't talk about your past, and you hardly leave me or my herd, but is there anyone or anywhere you would like to visit?" He wanted to make sure she was happy on every level, that she didn't miss anyone or didn't miss out on any opportunities that she had wanted to have.

Erumara stayed close to him happy under his wing. “I know that. My children love you as a father and I can’t tell you how much of an impact that you’ve had on them. I don’t think I could have raised them without you.” She was silent for a few moments thinking. “Yes I have two friends who are as dear to me as family and I want nothing more than to tell them of finding a safe place. I haven’t seen them since before I was headed down south. I am not even completely certain where to find them at.”

Nuzzling her gently, Dar thought of the kind of mare Erumara might have been before her life took a drastic turn, was she outgoing and loud like his sister? No, that didn't seem like her. "Well if you ever want to go anywhere. All you have to do is ask and I will get you there, or find whoever you want." His voice held his promise.

Dar’s touch feel so wonderful and so sweet. “I-I think I’d like to find Cal and Melda. We don’t have to go right now or even anytime soon, but I would like to speak with them again. We used to be so close sharing everything from our favorite sunning spots to the kind of stallion we wanted to find to whisk us off our hooves.” She smiled at the memory.

A gentle smile covered his face. "I hope I match that discription." Dar said jokingly, but halfway hoping that he was. "Whenever you're ready and want to go anywhere. All you have to do is say the word, and with or without me, you'll be on your way." It would hurt him immensely if she didn't want him to go with her, and Dar would probably follow along behind her just to make sure she was safe.

Erumara blushed. Little did he know Dar was very much like the kind of male she wanted to find in life. Though she still didn’t know if she was in love she was happy with him. Perhaps her wants had changed over time but she could find no fault with Dar. He was so gentle and so good to her and her children. She actually looked forward to speaking with Melda and Cal about him. The idea of going alone though made her shiver and not in cold. “I would have you with me if your family will give you the time to travel with me.”

Darrian shook his head with a smile, his family was large and strong, one flyer could be spared. "I'm sure my brother will understand. Besides, he has his new batch of of horned foals that need training in how to protect the herd. I'm sure they can spare one flyer." He said, raising an eyebrow and nuzzling her affectionately.

Ah foals. Her own children were grown enough and loved this home enough that a trip might not be appealing to them. She couldn’t selfishly take them all with her. Besides they were safer here. “Yes. We could I suppose make good time flying with just the two of us. I suppose we should let the children know where we’ll be headed and leave soon?” She looked at him wondering how long it would take to set the whole trip up and speak with whomever he needed to.

Darrian nodded his consent and gave her one nuzzle, whispering "I love you." to her before taking off towards home again.
time skip!!
Things were all in order, Darrian had made sure Damir had his patrolling shifts covered and he would not be needed. Dar and Erumara had even talked to the kids to make sure they knew they would be gone and who to contact if there was trouble.

 It had taken no time at all to have everything ready. Just another testament to Darrian’s skill in Erumara’s mind. Not worried at all for her children knowing they were in safe care she took off flying with Darrian spending much of the day flying. It took quite a while before she started to see familiar territory. When she did she let out a breath of relief. By now Darrian must think she had no idea where she was headed. Then she started into a glide to land. This was one of the meeting places this time of year for Cal and Mel. Oh please please let them be there. Cala saw a shadow and grinned hoping it would be Erumara. It had been a while since she had seen her and was starting to get worried. The turn of the seasons had come and gone and while Cala didn’t come a few times due to being with Alkion at least she tried to make it to the spots. Even Mel disappeared, thankfully she came back and with a story that Cala couldn’t believe. Finding a hunky stallion in the south of all places. and now to be expecting foals well it was just so exciting.

Darrian had some peace of mind leaving home. The last time he had ventured far from home was when he had found Erumara, and look how that had turned out! He knew his family could operate just fine without him so it didn't bother him in the slightest bit leaving. He wondered if Erumara was worried about the kids, he himself knew that there was no reason. Being with his extensive family could be one of the safest places for them! They had left early in the morning and had been flying nearly all day, but he never complained. His wings were strong and capable to support the pressure and exertion. Just then, Erumara started her descent, he wondered if it was because she was tired, but it seemed that there was a figure in the clearing below. He knew he would have to be on guard just in case it wasn't who Erumara thought it was. Dar was worried about her, after not flying for so long and then suddenly flying all day, he hoped her muscles were allright and she wasn't in any pain. They landed then, and although he let Erumara lead, he kept close to her, ready to surge forward at any moment to protect his love.

Erumara folded her wings gratefully to her side. That wide spectrum of colors could only ever be Cala. Grinning widely she approached the mare happily. It had been so long since she had seen her dear friend. Oh she had so much to tell her. All the memories and events made her pause for a fraction of a second. Could she tell Cala about her children and who their father was and how such beautiful beings were born of horror and fear? It was only Darrian’s presence made her start forward again. “Cala.” She moved to her friend’s side and placed her head on Cala’s neck in greeting and was so happy when her greeting was returned. “I’ve missed you much. How have you been? Where is Melda?”
Cala was so happy to see Eru but who was that stallion following her? She watched him while Eru paused for a moment. There was a strange look on her face. It made Cala stop watching him and focus on her friend. She returned her friends greeting in kind before watching the strange male again. “I missed you too Eru,” she moved around to place herself between Eru and the male. “Mind telling me who your second tail happens to be?
