Disney, of course! "Just need one more," Stormy answered distractedly, trying to flip through her mental catalog of characters in comparison to Gale. Flynn Rider? No, he was too outgoing. Prince Eric? As far as she knew, Gale didn't have a maritime habit . . . Wait. Maritime, sea, pirates--
"Oh, there we go, I see our last one right there," she reported, turning the lens towards the orange light. "Anyway, if I had to say right now, I'd go . . . huh. I think this thing is still acting up because the orange stuff is moving . . . towards you . . . How curious!"

"I think I see it," said Gale, but as he moved aside a section of leaves, there was a hissing sound and something small and black leapt out at him, tiny claws digging into his arm.
"The hell - "
He swung Jinhai around and fired, but space was limited, and it was difficult to get a good shot in.

One shadowling down, another few to go. Gale stomped on one with his foot just on principle, and it snarled in irritation, clawing at the sole of his shoe. He kicked it sideways and then swung the rifle around again, smashing the butt of it into the next one, rather than shooting at it directly.
Once they were all finished, Gale straightened, rubbing a dirt spotted hand across the back of his sweaty forehead. Any movement in such a hot, humid place was not exactly pleasant.

Sh-Shadowlings? Like from the Sun hunter training course? "I thought they kept those in the building," she mused with a tiny frown. "Though there was that time when they ran amok on us a while back...Yikes. Glad you're okay."
As a courtesy Stormy whirled the disc around, trying to make sure no more were sneaking up on him; it was good Gale kept his weapon out so she didn't smack him accidentally. "Anyway, I was gonna say I think you're more like William Turnerrrrraptraptrap!"
The teal runic markings on her monitor began to light up--

"They sometimes get out," said Gale, running a hand through his sweaty hair. "Annoying little bastards."
He took a few more cautious steps to the side, smiling a little. "William Turner? Like from Pira - "

There was another explosion and Gale was sent sprawling forward, landing on his stomach a few feet away. He crawled a bit further away, coughing as the smoke billowed over him, and made a sound like an angry cat, Jinhai hissing in his ears.
"Bloody TRAPS - " Gale coughed, dragging himself upwards once more. He was bleeding from the side of his head now, sticky and warm against his face. "Whoever left these here is an absolute moron. And suddenly I am vaguely suspicious that it was Mark because Mark would be the one to stupidly leave testing mines in a public area."

She couldn't help but start to fret about his condition in the jungle. Blood didn't register on the sensors, but she could hear it in Gale's voice that he was getting beaten up. "Sorry," she told him with a guilty tone. "I didn't think it'd be so hard...When we find the fifth pill, I'll get you something nice to eat. Is that okay, Gale?
There was a small feedback along the connection, and when Stormy turned towards the noise she made a soft whining noise. "Shadowlings incoming! They must've heard the trap to off and wanted to investigate." The disc bobbed helplessly; what she wouldn't give to be able to lend a hand out there...

"It's not," said Gale, as he swung the rifle around. "your fault. I should be paying a bit more attention."
Attention which was now diverted to the creatures scuttling along the jungle floor towards him. He made an agitated sort of sound, Gale's scowl becoming more pronounced, and swung the rifle around like a bat.

Food sounded good right about now. Gale gritted his teeth and tried to think on the bright side - like how at least it was him out here and not her.
He batted away a shadowling that had latched onto his arm and hissed in pain as its teeth came out of his forearm, wincing a little.
An explosion of gunfire would suddenly be heard over the headsets.

Stormy winced and sucked her lips in as the fusillade echoed over the connection. It was a wretched if necessary noise, but outside of battle where she could be distracted, she wondered if she'd ever be able to get use to gunfire without flinching.
Not a word was spoken until the last of the orange aura on her screen left; if he wasn't paying enough attention, it was because she kept rattling on at him. "Let's make that a full course meal," she offered mildly, knowing if she tried saying sorry again she'd probably get rebuffed. "With a dessert if you want."
The disc hovered around Gale's weapon for a moment to get him in her sights before the Argus machine moved forward. "I, um...What I mean to say was that you're like William Turner from the Pirates of the Carribean movies, yeah. Have you see all three?" Stormy asked, as she would hate to spoil anything.
The disc meanwhile bumped against something with a metallic scrape that made her (and it jump), especially when her monitor recorded vague traces of teal runic lettering. This one wasn't lighting up for some reason, though..."We got something here?"

Now he sort of ached all over, which was more than a little unpleasant. Using the rifle as a sort of cane, Gale hobbled along through the jungle, smiling a little in spite of the current situation at hand.
"Dinner sounds great," he said lightly. "And I like things that aren't too sweet."
The disc hovered in front of him, bobbing up and down gently, and Gale followed it carefully, flicking his eyes through the thick greenery. "I've seen all three," he answered her, simultaneously pleased and bemused as to this comparison. "How do you mean we're al - oh, there's something..."
He dug the contraption out from beneath the brush.
"Not a capsule. Just an old, disarmed mine."

"Well, you're both very brave and determined, for one, 'cause you're heroes. And Will was pretty serious too," she explained happily, "but fiercely loyal to the ones he cared about. Neither you nor he knew about your real destinies as hunter and pirate, but when they got revealed you both embraced it and turned out pretty awesome. Oh, and you both prefer to stay in the gray area! Like how Will doublecrosses Jack a few times in order to save his father and Elizabeth, and how you work with Mei against the horsemen.
"Also, you're both British~" Stormy couldn't help but add with a little giggle. "Not that I'm trying to stereotype here, honest."
Spotting something, she tilted the Argus disc and made a gleeful noise, forgetting for a moment that her hands were connected by delicate devices and clapping them together. "Alright! Last one's here, unless there's a shadowling napping on the ground."

He felt his face redden the more she talked, Gale dragging the rifle along with him and swinging it up to rest on his shoulder. No one had ever really complimented him the way that Stormy was right now, not really. Bix and Marcus both did their best to encourage him, but coming from Stormy...
He cleared his throat and shuffled his foot. "Er. Thanks," he mumbled, and decided that the redness of his cheeks was due to the sweltering heat and humidity of the jungle, Gale climbing over a thick, vibrant green brush to spot something glinting out of the shadows at him.
"Got it!" he said, and pulled the capsule free, tucking it into his bag along with the rest.
"All right, lemme go find the portal and then I am coming back to you at Headquarters. Just gimme a sec..." Ol-j-man capsules - 5 hp - 10 BUT BUT WHAT DO WE DO FOR RP NOW /CRIES also wtf gaia didn't notify me of this tag weep

The disc jittered in place, which probably meant Stormy had forgotten not to clap again. "Aye aye, captain!" The disc spun, this time from her saluting. "I'll follow you out then, since I can't see a thing except the pills and your weapon. All I have to do now is fill out a report for what happened and we can get you your dinner and dessert~"
The Argus device followed Gale home like a lost, humming sheep.

Back at Deus, Gale was promptly whisked straight to the Infirmary to be fixed up.
"I DON'T WANT TO BE HELPED," he bellowed, attempting to push the nurses aside, though he wasn't exactly in the most prime of conditions to be doing such a thing. "I JUST WANT TO GO BACK HOME AND REST."
And eat, Gale thought, but the nurse on duty gave him a stern look and promptly shoved him into the nearest bed.
"You can get your rest here," she said firmly. "Where you belong."
Gale had a whole host of retorts to say to such a comment, but instead he snapped his jaw shut and held them back. The nurse gave him a Look and whisked off, back to her office.
(He hoped.)
Once she was out of sight, Gale pulled out his phone and typed out a very specific text:Ol-j-man Text to Stormy:Being held hostage in the Infirmary. Any chance you're up for a break-in and getaway?

When he hadn't come back by the time she'd returned the Argus machine and filled the report, Stormy got a bit concerned. The infirmary was on her mind by the time Gale's text reached her, though she hadn't wanted to assume...He sounded a little more than beaten up over the headsets after all. Maybe he wanted some time to himself.
Then Stormy remembered how picky some of the labtechs could be, like the nitpicky one when she came back from her artifact quest--she'd not let her off the cot until the trainee was sure she had more pain coming form the stitches than the actual wounds themselves.kurotomato Text to Gale:Will is stuck in Davy Jones's ship! yay parallels! no seriously I'm coming one sec And she did about seven minutes or so after the message had been sent, wandering a bit until she spotted Gale and his . . . not so great looking self. The light smile Stormy'd been wearing faded with placid concern as she approached, bearing a small plastic bowl of blueberries she'd filched from one of the fridges.
There hadn't been a name on it, so she couldn't really feel so guilty.
"You look a little worse than I imagined," she commented. Maybe it was a blessing the Argus sensors didn't let her see his condition before, or she would have been more nervous the rest of the time. "You sure you don't want to stay a bit more?"
