I'm trying to figure out if catching up on Aku no Hana is worth the terrible afterfeels while messing with Akinator.

I take it that's an anime? What's it about?
I know about not wanting to deal with feels, though. Recently I decided to stop rewatching six Doctor serials because I couldn't deal with Mindwarp.

Aku no Hana is an anime about an awkward highschool literature boy who's life is changed forever after crazy sees him making the poor decision of stealing a popular girl's gym clothes.

It's a pretty solid show, but it's almost too good at activating your gtfo instincts.

Well, that seems like a pretty strange concept for a show, but I'm a Whovian so I can't really poke fun at other shows' concepts being a bit silly. It rather reminds me of that pub game; describe your favorite game or show while making it sounds as lame as possible.

It definitely has to be watched to be understood. I think if someone marathon'd the show after it ended they'd get an ulcer.

What are you writing?

An epic fantasy adventure. I couldn't tell whether I wanted it to be a game, a graphic novel, or just a novel.

*sigh* I donno. I think it's too emotional. Should I let that stop me? rofl I always write something and than later on I just want to change it. The universe is gigantic so I am starting to think maybe I need a team of different minds to help me sort out the confusion.

I want it to be interesting, fun, and filled with adventure and comedy... but all the feels leading up to that are key... and there are way too many feels.
Have you tried writing a plot diagram? I did that with the novella I've been writing last week, and it really helped me find where the storylines weren't meshing properly.

That's rather different than the problem I've been having recently when writing. I keep imagining a social justice blogger tearing into how the female characters in my novel are not their ideals of empowered womanhood, and therefore I am a misogynist. Now, I'm not saying that it's impossible for a woman to be a misogynist, but writing a female character being feminine, particularly in a historical setting, isn't misogynist.

I haven't tried writing a plot diagram. I shall do sooo at once. Thanks. It's funny because I remember them from school although I wouldn't have thought to even use one. Shows how much I know.

As far as misogyny goes I think there is a really fine line. I can't really see anyone pointing fingers at you for that but than again people love to do just that. Still... There are a million other ways to be misogynistic.

I say if anyone brings it up just tell it like it is. You should be able to put what you want into your work without that feeling of restriction. For me it just feels kind of like a personal restriction. I don't like feeling like it's too dark where it shouldn't be or something? Maybe I just need art? Maybe I just need opinions? Hopefully the diagram is going to help me out with this a little and give me a better picture.

I also find that listening to music helps. I often imagine music videos in my head, using clips from my story as if it were a film, and when the music video fills in what scenes are there I just have to put them back into the right order.
Actually, I just always think in music videos.

I know that the people who get upset about female characters not being the kind of characters they like will get upset about the characters they don't like, but I'm still nervous about the backlash.
Because, while it is primarily a witty satirical adventure, it is set in a fictional past in which is presented as idyllic with the exception of the fact that there is a caste of people who go about robbing people, taking hostages, generally just being mad scientists and penny-dreadful villains; rarely killing people (because what good is a dead hostage?). These people almost exclusively target women and children.
Idyllic with women being attacked on a daily basis being treated as a nuisance.
One of the villains calls herself a suffragette, but is primarily a pirate. I know people will hate that, that one of the few people who is verbally for woman's rights is presented as a villain.

One villain, who has already stated intent to court, touches one of the heroines' hair, which is the closest thing to sexual assault in the entire book. However, I am dreadfully sure that people will interpret this whole thing as being rape-culture. (However, I am also sure that some other readers will be utterly offended that she rejects his marriage proposal later in the book, as he is a bishonen.)
Although, it never is treated as the victim's fault, it occurs to me. It's not "Well, if you're going to show your ankles, of course a madman will drag you onto a mechanical crab."
It's "Someone gets dragged onto a mechanical crab every day. One day, it's going to be you."
This is an actual scene, by the way.

I'm rambling. I'm just afraid of social justice bloggers.

That's actually something I do, too. Thinking in music videos has helped me kind of capture the heat of the moment. I'll daydream a lot when I am driving passenger or somewhere boring trying to piece everything together in my mind.

I can see how people would mistake that now. It seems like there's no real way to avoid it if you put it that way. sweatdrop I don't know what to really tell you other than to do what you do. If it really irks you maybe you can just address that issue somewhere before they begin to read it to clarify? I don't know how well that would go over but... I always object to changing story elements just because a few bloggers were a**l about it. Not going to tell you otherwise.

I like playing music in the background while I'm writing to help set the tone. The only problem is that I find myself skipping a great deal of songs if they don't fit the mood. That's what playlists are for, I suppose.

There's a scene in which another character directly tells the pirate that kidnapping people and forcing them to work for her is not going to help her cause. And another where the same character defends her right to have a quiet life working in a shop wearing pretty dresses, which might make the people who were offended.
I don't want to hit the story over the head with the morality hammer, but I don't want to people to miss the fact that Canary Cate the Pirate is a nutter. A nutter who claims to support a good cause, but isn't really helping it.

Now I'm watching The Daemons, also known as "The Mayday Third Doctor special" and pinning together gorgeous midnight-blue velvet to make a third Doctor coat.

Anxiety and emptiness.
Finally got around to watching episodes 3 & 4 and followed them up with Hataraku Maou-sama to erase the pain.
Dark Lord Satan the fry cook, yeeeeaaaahhhh.

My fandom just exploded. There is no longer a classic who fandom, just a smoking crater of hate and rage. Stephen Moffat has confirmed that there will be no classic Doctors in the fiftieth anniversary.
Because the anniversary is about "Looking forward.", apparently.

And now I'm violently arguing with the lining for this jacket. I think I've finally gotten the sleeve to match the armhole, but you know how polyester shells are.
