Sherry looked at him, her face as blank as she could make it. Inside her anger turned and writhed with her shame and embarrassment. The anger was rolling, pointing inward as much as out. " Prevent it from getting worse?" she repeated his own words to him, and added in a swing from her glaive. That grin of his was suddenly annoying. "What does that mean?" As if it could get any worse. His grin suddenly dropped into a scowl as he glared at her, planting his feet apart while the runes on his weapons glowed. "Enough. I'm tired of talking."

As the area grew darker and tendrils lashed out at the life trainee, Jake didn't move, only watching as they wrapped around her, immobilizing her.

When the last of the illusion began to fade, he stepped forward, delivering a half-hearted strike at Sherry. He was tired of this. Sick and tired of this game.

Sherry scowled at Jake. Done talking? Ok, fine. They were just going around with circles with it all anyway. She'd found her defensive stance by the time the illusion took hold. She'd been through this before, and she tensed, waiting for the hits to come. When the blow finally did fall, it wasn't nearly as bad as she'd been expecting. The illusion was fading, too. As soon as she was able, Sherry took a short almost defensive swing with her weapon and stepped back, putting distance between her and Jake. Was he just playing with her now? Jerk. He didn't bother responding as he let out a half-hearted swing. He was tired of this game. Enough was enough.

Now who wasn't taking things seriously? Sherry shook her, scowled, and brought her blade down in another attack. He could at least give her a decent fight. HP: 10/50 Target: Jake Damage: 5 Items: Flask Charge: 3

Fine, she wanted a decent fight? Then so be it. The blades were brought down, showing no emotion as he tore into her shield.

That was more like it. She didn't want his pity any more than she wanted his hate. She could feel it, her fear shield wavering. She flinched, and stepped back.
This was stupid. She was stupid.

In his eyes, this fight was already over. Weapons de-summoned, his gaze lingered on her, before he turned, and started walking away.

It didn't matter who won, really. Jake had, but Sherry knew that even if she'd won, she would have did her best to leave him be. He was right, after all. He had made his wishes very clear. What kind of a friend would she be if she couldn't abide by them. What kind of friend was she now?
Sherry sighed as she straightened, leaning on Armaganc for support. She was done. She was acting like a foolish brat, and they both deserved better than that.
She almost said 'Goodbye' or something at his back. Almost. Any words she might have said caught in her throat. There was no point to words, really. Sherry blinked back her tears and watched him walk away. She figured she'd give if a few minutes before she moved out, herself. No need to cross paths or anything.
Armagnac was oozing a strange mix of feelings. Pride, comfort, joy, and blood lust.
