Taima was grinning as well as she stepped off the platform, finding herself absent the sting that usually came with came with failure. "There are a lot of different kind of games! There are games where your character fights another character, some where you use a steering wheel or even a gun as a controller--those take a minimum of skill, though. They're easy enough to beat as long as you can remember the correct sequence of events. My favorite are the puzzle games, but even they're not very hard." She pondered Terra's other question for a moment. "I don't think there are any more that are specifically related to music, but all of the games make some kind of sound."

"Then let us try one of your favorite games!" Terra said, looking for the puzzle games. "You tried mine, I will try yours! But what are those pieces of paper that the scarelings are carrying?" she asked as one kid passed by with a long strip of tickets.

"Okay!" Taima replied, looking much more enthusiastic about the prospect of playing the puzzle games. She would happily teach Terra all about them and in doing so set the ghoul on the path of being a good gamer, and not just another button-mashing scareling. Excellent. Taima was distracted from her plotting when her attention was diverted by Terra's question. She watched the scareling disappear around a video game, tickets trailing behind him like a flimsy tail. "Oh, those are tickets! You earn them for playing certain games, and you can exchange them for little toys or candies. If you earn more tickets, you can get bigger and better prizes, but mathematically, it's usually cheaper to just go out and buy those."

"But it is good to get SOMETHING out of the games, no?" Terra said after thinking about it for a moment. "You do not play for very long and you spend money on it--it is a very good strategy to make people spend their money more happily!" She was raised in a party like atmosphere, she understood the draw of partying for no reason--but getting things was always good!

Taima could have hugged Terra right then, if she was prone to doing that kind of thing. Instead, the other ghoul got a rare, bright smile of approval. "Yes! That's a very good observation," Taima agreed. "Tickets don't expire, either, so in the likelihood that one runs out of money while playing the games, there is always an incentive to return in order to accumulate more. It's sort of like playing the regular games with the goal of achieving a high score, only with a more tangible reward." This trip to the scarecade was turning out to be more fun than Taima had anticipated, but only in ways that someone like Taima would consider "fun." Ice Queen sob my notices got borked during the meta but i think they're all cleared out now yay sorry

Terra grinned, following the other ghoul happily to the next game. "It is very insidious," she said with a bright smile. "I appreciate their thinking!" she said happily, digging through her purse for more change. "Now, let us spend money and collect paper slips!" Inle-roo No worries! Do we want to think of wrapping this up then?

Taima hesitated before committing herself one way or the other. On the one hand, money wasted in the scarecade was money she couldn't spend on books or, worse, coffee. On the other hand, Terra was proving to be better company than Taima had anticipated, her eagerness to learn refreshing, her observations insightful. On the other, other hand, the redemption booth almost always had those little fish-shaped candies Taima liked..."Okay!"
