Alex continued to give her his attention, his ears to listen to all she had to tell him, wanted him to know and he welcomed every bit of it. Noticing how her replies continued to flow easier.
How her doubts began to crumble, her belief in him, her trust started to shine through and he saw the doors to who she was opening and becoming more clearer. He had no way of describing it, other than it was beautiful.
Sharing this experience for the first time, to find a mutual understanding with someone, that someone he never believed existed, he never wanted to let it go and she took the words right out of his mouth.
Breaking down all those walls, defenses he thought he had so masterfully prepared like she had and still she spoke of him like he was the angel his appearance displayed.
A part of him he thought he had lost so long ago. It was not lost but in waiting. He felt the need to protect her from the pain, from anyone else having put her through the devastation but was that all needed, to have lead them to this moment in time?
He hung on her words, ears etching forward in hope to catch the words that never came but it dawned on him what she was going to say, he could read it in the feeling they were sharing.
An instant of... Love.
It was so foreign. Could it be?
He stilled in his thoughts, movements and took the chance to truly take her in. Everything though his eyes never left her own. They shone brightly, a white light.
His father told him once that when he first met his mother, even though her sockets were dark like the fallen, he could see heaven in them and it was then that Alex finally understood what he meant.
"You will never have to run from me. I will be here, by your side for as long as you want me to be, need me to be. I'll be here."
He smiled warmly, not noticing the cold sting of the rain any more, or the exhaustion from his travels. He was caught, enchanted by this mare who was starting to make him believe again. Showing him meaning, that flicker of light.
She was true, honest and saying everything he would of only said if she hadn't.
"I would like to believe that is true. That once upon a time, our ancestors made a connection that would have us find each other. Would save us from ourselves by providing each other."
He shook his head gently when she asked if he really wanted to see her face. He would see it if she wanted him to see it but this meeting wasn't about appearances or names, it was about the two of them. Connecting, finding something that some may never know.
"He just didn't understand..." He whispered. How could the other possibly know what he had let go of, if he hadn't known a bond, forming so rapidly so easily in such a way, it left every part of you melting in to it.
"I feel that by each others side, we can finally over come those troubles." He nodded. "It may take time to fully rid the evils of our pasts but time, feels like for once it's on our side and we have all the time in the world to do with it as we please."

He was the hope she held deep inside of her never letting it out. He was the one who would save her from herself and her nightmares. She felt attached to him so fond never wanting to let him go. Was this only for a moment or would this last a lifetime? She hoped this moment would never end but all good things do. This was her deepest fantasy her fairy tale ending. Meeting that stallion who would sweep her off her hooves into another world. A world of hope and a would where the past is nothing but a bad memory no longer a constant nightmare.
She would confide in him her secrets and she knew he would keep them. How could she know something like that? She could not see the future but somehow her mind was showing her things. It was not her though her mind was showing her what she desperately wanted to be real. Her deepest wishes and desires unfolding in her mind. She would stand there for as long as she could not wanting to ever let this end.
"I will never have any reason to run..I trust that you will always be there..just as you say" she smiles up at him though he cant see. She sees him smile and hers is even brighter. "You are the light in my darkness..I trust that you really are.." her speaking is back to normal now that way she has always talked since she started seeing the spirits.
"I do think it is true..they must have loved one another deeply..for this connection to happen..for us to save each other..I know we can get over the past for now starts a new beginning" she nods at that and feels like she can overcome anything life throws at her.

"If that is what we believe in. What we desire, then we can. Anything is possible." He nods slowly and reluctantly pulls his eyes away from her own though they were eager to look back in to them as soon as they left, he knew it was best that they fled this nightmare weather.
"How would you like to escape this weather?" He asked, his tone soft as his eyes danced across the tree's. "There should be somewhere we can take shelter and collect warmth nearby." If there wasn't then he could always carefully prepare one, having to make-shift a temporary home many times in his travels when he had pushed too hard.
It wasn't that the weather was bothering him or ruining their moment together but rather they could continue this some place where there wasn't the risk of getting ill or catching their death.
He looked back to her, ushering her forward as he began to move slowly. He had promised he would be here and since she also agreed that they should try a new beginning, together, he was taking her with him. Wherever that may be.
"What do you see in your future, if it is to be with me?" He asked calmly, wondering the same possibilities. He had seen enough to know more than most would ever dream of and wondered if there really was any more need to see what more the world had to offer.
Was it finally time to settle down?
That void was already being filled, in fact he didn't feel so lost anymore. Like everything was being stitched together.
So what were they to do? Would they find their own place, another herd or move through the land wherever the wind took them. Was this all too fast? He wanted to do right by her and he wanted to know exactly what she wanted, so he could give her all she deserved.
Even if it didn't matter where they ended up, or what they decided on. So long as they were together but why not better what was already working in their favor.

Anything is possible..his words seemed very true at that moment. "I do believe in new starts..i never did before but i do now.." she is shivering now having not noticed how long they had been out in the weather. She was soaked in rain dispute having been covered by his wings. She noticed how she could see herself through his back pair seeing they were transparent. That was interesting but so was she. "I would love to get out of this rain..i am cold even though we have been comforting each other.." she followed his gaze obsering the area. She wanted to keep talking but knew in het mind they could when they found someplace warmer out of the elements.
When he started to slowly walk forward she followed close behind feeling the full force of the rain. she was focusing on finding shelter when the spirits appeared and she followed them. "The spirits are helping us to find shelter.." as she followed them they soon vanished and she saw they had led them to a cave. "In my future i see us.. a big happy family...no pain or sorrow..laughing.." she smiles to herself "I see us staying by each others side as we grow old..never parting" she hoped what she saw in her future would be true. "What do you see.?" she enters the cave and lays down watching the rain drip off the entrance.

Alex continued searching with his deep sea eyes, scanning the terrain for leaks to alternate paths which would indicate other animals had tread through under similar circumstances before.
More determined to find it now that she had confirmed the desire to escape the elements. He stopped when she spoke of the spirits, turning his attention to her. His movements were still slow considering the strain and exhaustion his body was suffering but he was pushing on... For her.
With a slight nod of his head and a warm smile, he continued after her. Spotting the cave a short distance away from them when it came in to sight;as well as the consistent rain would allow.
Ears twitching, he listened to her as she spoke of their future and watched as she lowered herself to the ground before doing so too. Taking the spot next to her, he shuffled closer and curled his wings around her. Putting his neck over hers he could instantly feel the warmth radiating from her and almost purred at the feeling.
"I see our future being just as wonderful as you speak of it. A family, a place to call our own. No lingering despair to hold us back from truly living a for filling life and many, many amazing and loving memories to continuously look forward to. Knowing that each tomorrow will be a better one."
He smiled at the idea and the words and the new world they seemed to share in opinion. "Wherever you shall go, I go too. There will never be any time where we are without each other." He whispered this in to he ear and nuzzled in to the top of her mane.

She was content and knew she would be for however long she could stay by his side. He did not think her strange and she kept walking with him as the spirits left her vision she did not even notice. She had better things to look forward to than watching the spirits all day every day. The shadows that had formed around her were lifting shadows that no one could see. She noticed the cave at that moment and was releavied they would have a place to stay in eachothers company. Then she noticed her mind had been wandering as she was lying down in the cave and Alex was ever so close to her. How long had they been there lying there? She did not care becauce forever would not have been enough time.
His wings were sheltering her and she felt him over her enjoying everything about him. She loved the way he smelled it was odd but somehow it helped her feel like the mare she might have been..if her life had not taken the turns it did. He was speaking now and she nodded agreeing with every word he spoke.
"I want that to be us..and it will be in time..if we can both see the future we can shape it..into being what we always wanted create those memories..living each day to the fullest.." she looked up and him and knew every word was truth "I would love that to be how we live..never far from the others side.." she felt him his presence and at that moment there was nothing to hide.
"Please do me a favor..if you wish to know who i am..you may remove my mask yourself and find out.." she looks up at him waiting to see if he would remove it or leave it on her for herself to take off when she felt ready. She was testing him to see what he would do if he was as patient as she believed he was.

Alex listened to her words carefully as they filtered through his ears like a song. They flicked gently like they were checking each word off of a list with a tick to confirm. He smiled warmly as they registered and soaked in the feeling that was flowing through him like a calm stream dancing across a forest.
"We do that by taking no for an answer. If life takes a shape that we are displeased with, we change it to something more desirable. We won't allow those dark times to catch us again. If we will it, those memories will be ours..."
He lifted his head from on top of her neck at her request. "A favour?" He repeated in confusion wondering what she could possibly ask of him though what poured from her mouth had his smile fall drastically in to a frown. Unsure of what her favour really entailed.
"I do want to know who you're." He stated and then shook his head, his damp bangs awkwardly flicking around his face with his movements. "Not like this. I don't need to remove your mask to find out who you're. A body is a shell and that shell is hiding the real you." He managed to pluck up a small smile, seeing her glowing orbs he couldn't remain sad when she had evoked a spur of happiness inside him that continued to grow.
"If you really want me to see what you look like, then I will remove it. For you and only you. I don't have to, if you truly don't want me to or ever want me to for that matter. All I want is you."
