Jerry might have been a lot of things, but he wasn't stupid. Outright stupid, anyway, and the more Melvin hinted, the more uncomfortable Jerry became. "It wasn't a problem, really-" He mumbled in regards to being called.
The conversation was being lead in very obvious directions. Jerry snorted, and got himself up to go get coffee, "This is about what happened to Rep isn't it."

"Partly. I did want to come here to apologize for being a bit...tense during our time in jail. I also wondered if that somehow set you off. I work in the Infirmary, Jerry. Not just because I'm in Life, but because I don't like seeing people get seriously hurt. I'm not as hardened by this place to be used to death, even if everyone says it's just something to accept here. When hunters hurt other hunters beyond sparring, beyond a control, even if it's an accident. I worry. Rep has this problem. I didn't know you did too, and when you go past sparring to start hurting, it says something."
Melvin wasn't about to just hide things if Jerry was going to easy pick up on what he was leading to. It made things easy in fact. "I thought Rep and you were close friends. That was my impression, so I'm not sure why you went that far. Have you heard how damaged he is right now?"

"This isn't any of your business, Mel." Jerry's voice had grown into a dark growl as he fumbled with his mug. "Rep IS my friend. It was an accident. Accidents happen. Especially around here."

"Rep is my friend too. I'm also concerned when people have accidents. There is a history starting to repeat itself around here, and I don't like it. You're not a Lifer who works to fix people in the Infirmary and having to see those wounds over and over, but I do know you're not a bad person. I also think that you don't want it to happen again, so what happened? You don't hate Rep that much, and you still say he's your friend. What would push you so far to hurt your own friend to the point that he might be blind now?" Melvin did not move from where he was, and he didn't raise his tone. It was level, calm, as he waited.
"You called it an accident, but it's known you went beyond a spar and when a shield breaks. Accidents are one thing, but you, at your rank, would know when to stop. Something happened."

"You make a lot of assumptions for someone who hasn't been here that long."

"That's why I'm asking. So I can hear it from you and not anyone else. People are going to talk about you, Jerry. About safety. How do you think people feel when someone maims their own friend? That goes down in reports. Do you care that Rep might be blind and never be as good with his weapon again? Could you imagine that sort of worry if YOU went blind because Rep went too far with you? Have you visited him yet since you're his friend?" Melvin was pressing, pushing, and he damn well knew he would find a breaking point.
To help it along, he leaned over and plucked one of the strings to the tiny guitar thing beside him that he had been looking at for the past few minutes.

Jerry's breathing was quickening, coffee dribbling to the carpet from his shaking hands. "You don't know a... a D-DAMN THING about me, Melvin. And I don't have to tell you ANYTHING. You think I don't feel BAD about this? That I haven't been.... been holing myself up here for days so I don't-" He hesitated, mouth moving as he quietly listened to his weapon.
Roar's advice did not help. It involved ripping Melvin's throat out with his teeth.
"Just get out, Melvin. Leave me alone." He set the coffee down to snatch up the ukulele before Melvin touched it again.

"So you don't - what? Hurt again?"
"You can't hide, Jerry. Rep works with you. You and him are both Suns. If you are his friend, you need to claim responsibility for what you've done. When Rep tore off Rin's arm because it was an accident. He ran. He was afraid and he ran because he couldn't bare looking at the damage he caused and didn't know what to do. But he went to see her because he was her friend. Something happened, Jerry. Hiding isn't going to fix it, and being in Sun, where you are picked because you can fight and have the burden of a lot of power with your weapon, you will find yourself sparring again."
Melvin remained seated. "I'm not going to clean the blood of hunters hurting hunters over and over again. You snapped because of something and I don't think slicing up Rep resolved it. If you're not going to talk to me, who are you going to talk to? Your guitars and keyboards?"

Alpha wolf.
Jerry's face had contorted, his breathing slow and deep. He tried to concentrate on his inner metronome again. Tick-tock-tick.
And Melvin kept talking, and lecturing.
The Sun Hunter lurched forward, suddenly grabbing the Lifer by the shirt to haul him up off of the couch and shove him toward the door. "You don't know me. And don't even pretend you are interested in knowing me. Get out."

Melvin rose his hands up, not moving but allowing himself to be dragged. "I'll come again, Jerry. And again. And again. I'm rather patient. You talk now. You talk later. It doesn't matter to me. Maybe I'll even find a instrument to play at your door. They say music soothes the savage beast. Is that why you're playing so much?" He continued to ask, hands still raised as he was snarled at.

"And WHY should I tell you? Why is it ANY of your business?" Jerry spat, shoving him forcefully toward the door again.

Melvin narrowed his blue eyes upon him. "Because I don't like seeing less of us around. When people praise how we're all a team and no one actually bothers to take time to think about what that means. I don't like friends killing and hurting friends. I don't like how things are, and I don't like seeing more and more in the Infirmary. You are a Sun to kill shadows and cripple Halloween. If no one cares about the people here, about you, about anyone, then what sort of team are we that can't even stand on our own feet by ourselves let alone the monsters we have to deal with? Halloween wins if we hurt our own small numbers. I fight my way in hoping people on our side can continue fighting there way."
He continued to have his hands raised. "So are you going to continue to fight me and add me to your list of those against you, or keep that list just to the monsters outside of this island?"

"WHAT DO YOU WANT FROM ME?" Jerry roared, finally hitting his saturation point. "This place CHANGES people, alright? Sooner or later you'll figure that out! You aren't my therapist! And if you are my friend you have a p-pretty... horrible way of showing it! Now get OUT!"

"How should I go about it? Waiting when you lock yourself up? When people run, sometimes then need to be chased." It was the only way anyone saw any real progress. Waiting sometimes was good, and other times well, Melvin just fetched what he wanted.
He stopped at the door frame of Jerry's room. "This place changes people. It does. I don't need to be fresh meat to this place to know it. But to what it changes people into does become a concern for many people, especially when friends get hurt. I am not your enemy, Jerry. I want to help!" Damnit, he forgot how frustrating it was talking to Suns. Jerry was just as bad as Rep, but at least Rep talked more.

"Y-you... you want to help by... by barging-arging-arging into my apartment and d-d-drilling me about what I... I already know and f-feel terri-erri-errible about and r-rub my face in it like a b-bad dog? You th-think I'm some b-blood thirsty, idiotic, m-mindless k-killing machine? Well FINE!
