"Of course, Doctor H." Her tone insinuated that there really was no other doctor at Deus. He was the Doctor. She rarely used the H to address her superior. He was simply 'Doctor' - and honestly, his opinion was the only one that mattered.
Her gaze was keen on Melvin's movements, and Sasha watched him carefully as he filled his cup.
"There are few things that entertain me these days, Melvin. You are, undoubtedly, one of them."
She offered him a toothy grin as she crossed her arms over her chest, watching him carefully.
"What do you do for fun, Melvin? It's been so long since we've last spoken, I feel as if it merits catching up. Wouldn't you agree?"

"There are other doctors on the island. I felt I needed to be sure which one you were bothering to talk to." Doctor H was not someone Melvin had a high regard for and didn't even feel he deserved the title of Doctor. It was only through confirming with other members in the Infirmary that he actually did do some good work that he resigned to give him his title.
Fixing his coffee just the exact way he liked it, with the same detailed cleanliness as before, he continued to watch her. "You must have very little going on in your life to find entertainment in a person you rarely speak to. I believe that some of the Lifers do game night. You should really consider signing yourself up. I hear they play Operation so you should find some fun in that." He took a spoon, cleaned it, and then stirred his coffee as he turned back around to address her.
"I work, Sasha. I work, and I talk to the rainbow cornucopia that makes up the people on this island. I also, during the holidays, set up get-togethers but I'd hardly call that fun." Considering most people went crazy and started unnecessary drama when it was supposed to be a holiday. "Most fun has to be saved for on leave." Which he wasn't going to enjoy anytime soon considering his little jail incident with Rep and Melvin's now empty pockets.
"What do you do for fun?"

"Your assumptions of me are just simply fascinating. It really does speak mountains of your regard for me." She still couldn't tell if he loathed her, but she suspected he likely did. He seemed to persist in assuming things about her concerning her life and the nature of her activities, but it didn't bother her, really. Perhaps it was just the way he was.
Sasha shrugged.
"I don't tend to spend time with many other people on the island. I have a few people I trust implicitly and it seems to have served me well thus far."
Her brows came together in a slight frown of curiosity.
"What is Operation?"
She didn't wait for him to answer before she continued.
"I work for fun. In fact, I was working before the unappealing stench of coffee distracted me."

Melvin wasn't even hiding the fact of how he felt about Sasha, and when she mentioned it, he just let it be. He thought she was as crazy as a bunch of crack ferrets in a box of packing peanuts, and he was sure that she got that point.
"Operation is a kid's game of a naked fat man drawn on a board with holes in his body that hold little plastic pieces in shapes of bones and things inside each hole. You take a pair of tweezers to pluck them from the holes for points, but the tweezers and board of the game is metal and if the tweezers touch the side of the holes, they create a closed current that lights up the man's big red nose, thus penalizing you for not having more eye hand coordination." Melvin said, easily explaining a rather demented game. "I think the Lifers do Strip Operation though and each penalty removes a item of clothing." The techs got board a lot.
"If the smell of bad coffee distracts you from work, you're not going to get much done. I suggest getting yourself a candle for your lab. Something floral that you'd enjoy like Midnight Massacre or Ligaments and Lime." He smiled again to sip his coffee, clearly entertained by his own jokes.

"Sounds boring," Sasha waved her hand in dismissal, one brow climbing as she thought about his last words.
"I could try and explain to you in detail the things you saw in Rep's infirmary room, but I think it would be a rather extensive waste of breath."
Sasha shrugged and stepped out of the doorway.
"Much like this has been, I think. I should get back to work."

He picked his cup, intent on heading back to his own lab, but also as an excuse to step out when she was. "You first called me entertaining and yet seem to think I'm boring to talk to. You seem to be contradicting yourself."
He waiting for Sasha to leave the room first, a gesture of 'ladies first' as he waited.
"I got an explanation from Rep. I know what he's getting out of it. I don't know what someone who works in the labs and has enough intelligence to know the consequences would get out of playing with Rep. If my jokes pissed you off, you could have told me to stop." It was on her that she didn't tell him to shut his trap, so he continued on with his assumptions.

"You aren't boring to talk to. I was insinuating that the game of Operation sounded boring - and also that any explanation I wasted my breath giving to you might fall on deaf ears - only insinuating that you might find my explanation boring." Sasha gave him a curious look as she left the room, pausing out in the hallway once Melvin continued speaking.
He was a strange one.
"I'm not pissed off. You would know if you'd offended me."
Sasha flashed an unholy sort of grin.
"What did Rep say? Morbid curiosity, you understand. If you'd rather not get into that, it's fine."
She shrugged and started back towards the small room she'd been working in.

He supposed he would know if he pissed her off, but considering she had interest in Rep, he wasn't sure if her violence was selective. Melvin was a bit too curious for his own good in figuring it out, and followed along as he spoke. What? He wanted to see what a mini golem was.
"He felt I wouldn't completely understand as well. Stating that I lacked a sort of primate need that you two share. I suppose a more raw aggression is what he was talking about. That you and him had some fight that continued to build upon each other, each side not calling the quits, and the result is this thing you have together where both of you want to win but with a certain set of nonverbal rules." He stated. "Correct me if I'm wrong of course." He was wanting to know what assumptions he was making weren't the right ones after al.

"No correction needed."
Sasha continued walking, curious as to why the other Lifer was following her. It didn't take long at all for them to come upon the small room she'd claimed. It was tiny, a meager window set high on the wall.
It was also very immaculate. No paper was out of order, everything organized just so. Sasha was very particular about the way she worked.
"Are you interested in seeing what I've been working on?"

Melvin had a deep appreciation for anyone that kept their workspace or any place very tidy, and he took note of the impeccable and pristine condition of such a small workspace. "I see why you have to work on miniature golems." He pointed out, standing in the door frame.
"Yes, I would like to see."
He guessed he was right about what Rep said. It was a game to her as well. "You don't seem the type to want to play the sort of games Rep does. I was thinking that he's use to fighting with his weapon but likes the challenge in a bit of brains. Is that it?" He was theorizing again.

"Not.. well, yes, miniature golems. But they take the shape of minipets. Mostly for reconnaissance. I'm still working on my presentation for the Doctor, but I've put in a great amount of time and effort into my research and planning so far."
She picked up a piece of paper with varying diagrams of minipets sketched onto it, dimensions, eating and living habits written in neat script.
"I've used our golems to watch them in the field, and I've collected specimens of my own, as well."
Sasha paused and gave Melvin an odd look.
"It's a game between Rep and I. There are rules, like you mentioned. We understand one another. Maybe we understand each other too well in certain ways."

"Interesting. There isn't much minipets can do on their own. There is actually a artifact area that has the possibility of changing a person temporarily into a minipet for a day. I've had that very thing happen to me, and I can tell you that what you can accomplish is very limiting. However, people see minipets like dogs, even here, and say a lot." He was even taken to Rep's room, a place he hadn't thought of or had gone to till he was a minipet.
He opened his hand. "May I see your research? Trust me. I'm not here to steal information. I'm not death. Just curious." He said, using the other hand to sip his coffee.
As he waited, he juggled the other part of their conversation. "And what ways does Rep understand you so well?"

"No, there isn't much they can do on their own - however, many on the other side seem to approach these creatures as we look at our cats and dogs, in certain respects. It would be easier to send in hunters in these small, more socially accepted golems - as you said, they say a lot. It isn't as if the golem has to get to know parties of interest - only be in the same room with them."
She handed over the small sheaf of papers.
"It is our similarities he understands," Sasha waved her free hand, "I just try and be more... graceful about the situation."

Taking his cup, he looked for any coasters and then set it down before looking at the pages and checking a few diagrams and the various tests she was preforming. "Some also get eaten by other minipets. You'd have to release the golems some place near schools and populated areas where the ones from the woods wouldn't digest your hard work, but I do see the value. If you could sent hunters to figure out the species and look of minipets from important members of Halloween, you could plant spies right at their feet and even have them fetch items or various codes to pass on to the taller golems who could use them."
He continued to look at the pages. "Graceful as in secretive and less loud about it?" She wasn't being very clear.

Sasha made a few notes as Melvin spoke. She hadn't thought about the technical aspects of everything just yet. She'd been too focused on the logistics, the durability of the golems.
"I'm glad you can see the value," her words were genuine. "I haven't shared this with anyone else just yet, aside from Wash." Sasha made a thoughtful noise, browsing over her notes as she tapped the eraser of her pencil against her lips.
"And yes. I prefer to keep certain things private. Well, as private as I can."
