Gabby's cold eyes flickered up at the boil when he asked the question, but they didn't stay long. He just licked his finger again, because page turning totally did require that much licking, and snapped another page into place. " Permanently." He repeated, looking absolutely apathetic about it. "Until one of us gives in and admits they want it first." Gabby tossed his hair out of the way of his face, before focusing on his book sternly. "Which won't be me, if you're wondering." His gaze returned to Efflo, indignant. "Are you done yet?"

Efflo watched him turn another page, eyes narrowed. Fine, if that’s how Gabby wanted to play, then that’s how they were going to play. “We’ll just see about that,” he muttered softly under his breath, looking away as he pushed his chair back, getting to his feet. He stretched luxuriously, arms over his head and his new breeches slid dangerously low over his hipbones. Being so slim, his pants were almost always nearly falling down, even with a belt, but for once Efflo was grateful for their poor fit. He was also very grateful the library was relatively empty because the longer he stretched, the clearer it was that he wasn't just 'stretching and the greater the danger that it would all backfire on him and his pants would end up on the floor in a very embarrassing and unattractive way. The boil yawned quietly when he was done, bending to shuffle his papers together and gather up his things. He’d finish the rest of it later. “Done enough, whiny. Let’s go drop this stuff off at my dorm, then we can find something more fun to do.”

There was one particular thing a smart boil like Gabby knew when entering in a competition of this specific kind. He knew exactly what would make him lose. And unfortunately for Efflo, with his little sexy stretching show in the middle of the library, Gabby's eyes remained very focused on the book he was reading. Out of his peripheral vision, he could tell Efflo was trying to entice him, but it was just blurry enough to keep him from actually being affected. Nice try. "All right. I'm going to check this book out, first." Gabby murmured quietly, closing it and standing up to move away from the table, all while refusing to look in Efflo's direction. He headed straight for the librarian's desk, handing him the book.

Efflo scowled, though he wasn’t surprised Gabby didn’t fall for it. As much as he called the dragon an idiot, he definitely wasn’t one, at least, not most of the time. “Fine,” he called after him, slinging his book bag over his shoulder. “I’ll meet you outside.” He stalked off through the door, trying to think of some way he might possible win this. He blew out a sigh once he reached outside, kicking at the path with his foot. He really hadn’t thought this through, had he? Short of racing Gabby to his dorm room, and answering the door completely naked when his boilfriend arrived, Efflo didn’t have a lot of good ideas. And, with the way the frosty ghost was acting, he was pretty sure even that wasn’t going to work. Leaning against the wall, he stared up at the sky, plotting.

Gabby had a very pleasant, quiet conversation with the librarian. He was, for once, being charming, and the librarian appreciated the attitude. So when he left, the librarian seemed rather pleased to have dealt with the boil. Gabby gave him a short wave, before leaving the library, in good spirits. When he found Efflo, he gave the boil a curious look, before his lips tilted up in a smirk. "I want to say something." His fingers looked like they were reaching out, but they pulled back, remembering. "Even though we're doing this, and I fully intend on winning, I want you to know." He bent in, coming dangerously close to the boil's face, but never quite reaching it. His hand pressed against the wall beside Efflo's head, and his expression was - surprisingly - gentle. "I may not touch you until you give in, but that doesn't mean I don't love you. Don't ever forget that." His nose wrinkled softly, and then he pulled away, gesturing. "Let's go."

Efflo blushed, Gabby’s reminder of his love going straight to his heart. When the boil pulled away, Efflo wanted nothing more than to jump after him; to wrap his arms around him tightly and never let go. He almost did, before he paused, remembering the no touching rule midway like Gabby had. He groaned, why had he made such a stupid rule? He pushed past Gabby, careful not to touch, and turned around to face the dragon, blocking his path forward. “Hey,” he said softly, smiling warmly at him. “I love you too.” Then he was trotting off in the direction of his dorms, calling back over his shoulder with a laugh. “I’ll still love you when you’re a big loser too, don’t worry!”

Efflo had his attention, and when he returned Gabby's love, he had his heart. The boil gave him a teasing smirk, and let him run off. "I know." He responded, a quick, quiet whisper meant mostly for himself. But then Efflo had to ruin it. "I do not lose, Efflo." He started stalking forward, all of that sincere content washed away from his face. "I hope you've got some games or something interesting in your dorm. I get bored quickly, and when I get bored, I go flying. Alone."

Efflo skipped ahead of him, slowing down when he realized Gabby wasn’t quite keeping up the pace. He turned around, carefully walking backwards so he could talk to his boilfriend. “Well, no, not really. I was thinking I’d just drop my stuff off and change, then we could go do something outside. It’s such a nice day out.” He trailed off, noticing that they were passing the Ghost Dorms. The horse frowned; there was really no point in going all the way across campus to his dorms, besides… “Why don’t I just drop my stuff off in your room? Do you still have my shorts here? …You wouldn’t really fly off without me, would you?”

Nice try, Efflo. "We're going to your room. But you're right. It is a nice day outside. I guess we could hang out there." He paused, walking faster so he could overtake the boil, and grinned predatorily, showing just a few too many teeth. "And of course I would. I'll do it right now, if you mention those shorts again."

It was very hard not to touch Gabby. Not in any sort of perverse way, but as the dragon overtook him, Efflo really wanted to pounce him and snuggle affectionately into a piggyback. Or kiss him. Or even hug him. Or at the very least, hold his hand. It was strange having gone from never wanting to touch anyone, to not being able to get enough of feeling Gabby’s coolness against him. He whined, hurrying after him. “Why, what’s wrong with my shorts? It’s too warm today to run around in pants. And what if we end up going swimming? Gabriel, I might need them.” His ears flicked back, worried about having brought the shorts up again. He was only kidding, and he was pretty sure Gabby was too but… What if he wasn’t? He stretched his arm out, going to reach for Gabby’s jacket, before shaking his head, pulling his hand back. This was hard. “Please don’t fly away,” he mumbled softly. After that he followed along obediently, until they reached his dorms. He kept a safe distance from Gabby, not trusting himself to not instinctively reach for the boil. Pulling out his key, he unlocked the door and held it open for Gabby. “After you,” he said pleasantly. There was no way Gabby was waiting outside.

"You don't need them. And what did I say?" Gabby hadn't been kidding. His wings stretched out, and even tensed, as if preparing to soar him upward. But the sound of Efflo's voice, so soft and contrite, was stronger than any touch. It shocked through him, and made his wings go limp in defeat. He turned his head just slightly to the side, refusing to look at him as he whispered guiltily. "I won't." He didn't mind the silence that came afterwards. It was when Efflo made it to the door that Gabby felt disconcerted. He looked inside cautiously, at first, though he couldn't imagine what he was looking for. Then he stepped inside, exactly four steps, and remained where he stood. This was good enough. The room looked like a horse's stall - oh. Right. Duh. "Nice room." He offered quietly.

Efflo’s anxiety calmed considerably when Gabby relaxed his wings, and agreed no to go. By the time they got to his room, he was back to his usual self. “Thanks,” he said, grinning as he sauntered in and shut the door, setting his bag down by his dresser. “It’s not much, I know, and it’s not very shiny or anything but… It’s home.” Or at least, it used to be home. Now home was Gabby’s arms, and he pouted, thinking he’d like to be there right now. The boil blew out a sigh, opening the drawers of his dresser and rifling through them. After the trip to the maul, he’d come home with more clothes than he knew what to do with. The truly scary part was that he was finding out he liked it, having so many outfits. He could wear whatever he felt like, not just his usual breeches and boots. Speaking of which, that gave him an idea… He quickly kicked off his boots, and shimmied out of his pants, throwing them in Gabby’s direction. Left standing cheekily in his underwear, he went back to searching through his clothes with a smirk.

Gabby stood there, immobile even as a pair of pants fell on his face. He let them sit there, in silence, for a few seconds. And then he sighed. Just once.

He sighed back at the sigh, frustrated. “If I can’t wear shorts, what can I wear?”
