"Now, Krishna... don't pretend to be oblivious..." Richard said with a sideways grin, leaning oh so close to the florist and allowing him to see the lust in his eyes, as well as smell the whiskey on his breath. He knew Krishna. He wasn't an idiot. He wasn't clueless. He had handled both before. No, Krishna was certainly neither, and he knew it. He may have been drunk and clouded with lust, but he knew that Krishna was playing dumb. And he would not allow that kind of game, not in his house. "You know what I want..."

Without grabbing the florist, Richard leaned forward and was going to take what he wanted from this experience. No asking. No more games. He was in this to win, and pressing his lips against Krishna's would grant him the victory that he so desperately wanted this evening.

Baldwin had long since given up on his quest to find the strange intruder, and the Irish wolfhound trotted back to his owner's side, to let him know that the coast was clear and the condo was safe once more. By the time the dog made it into the kitchen, though, he could see that Richard was busy, and Baldwin, ever patient, took a seat on the cold kitchen floor and looked up at them, seeing that his owner's visitor had his hand on the fridge. Perhaps since he scared away the intruder, he would be treated to some bacon?

Gotta love Baldwin - nothing else matters as long as there is bacon!

Also, short posts are totally fine with me, as you know. xD

Krishna's spine stiffened slightly as the inebrieted man leaned forward, but he did not pull away. No, he was not oblivious, and yes, he had a fair idea of what Richard wanted. For a brief moment, he allowed his partner to remain in control. Then, the florist seized control of the kiss. There would be only one--he would see to that--but even in this one he wanted Richard to know he was permitting it to occur.

"No." A single word, laden with meaning, broke the kiss as he pushed the whiskey soaked candy man away. Yet, in his mind, the only word that need be spoken to end the moment Richard had sought. Best to be clear on the matter once and for all, with their single, shared kiss as a parting gift.

There were many reasons why Krishna would not yield. Pride certainly played a part; as flattering as the attention could be, the florist could not allow his partner to take control of their still developing relationship. Diligence, and duty, were another, more substantial part. Zinkenite had more or less entrusted the newly awoken Buddingtonite into Krishna's care. Richard was now more than merely a means to profit; he was a fellow officer, one that needed to be trained and protected. Perhaps most importantly of all... Krishna simply did not have that kind of interest in Richard. Business partner, ally, and... friend, however sparingly the rainbow-haired man used the word, yes. Lover? No.

He pulled the refrigerator door open now that the hand holding it shut was gone. Krishna would not dwell on this moment; better to just let it lie in the past. There were other, more pressing matters that needed tending. Food, for one. The hungry florist pulled out the dozen eggs and bacon, moving to place them on the counter. Omelettes were as good a place as any to start this late night meal. He had not seen mushrooms or onions in the ice box... but he returned for a second look and also to inform Richard, "I need a pan. We will talk while cooking."

Talk, yes, about the information that Krishna still needed to give Richard about the organization he had just joined. The lieutenant may not have known everything about the Negaverse, but he knew enough to start. He would not fail Zinkenite's test of his abilities, and he would not let his partner wander further into darkness unattended.

There were a few things that Richard expected when their lips met, and he had endured enough kisses to feel as though he knew every possible route or outcome of this event. If there was one thing he felt he knew more than selling candy it was kissing, and yet, Krishna found a way to best him. He was expecting him to push him away or even melt into it, but for him to take control of it? No, that was unexpected, but Richard didn't pull away or break it. Krishna wanted control? He could swing that way...

But just like that, the kiss was over, and there was no way for Richard to misunderstand his explanation. He could try to sweet talk around it, play coy and see about pushing it a little further, but Krishna pretty much made it clear that he was not going to allow it to continue, and that there'd be no convincing him otherwise.

What a bummer.

"You're a tease... you know that, Krishna... a loathsome... tricky tease," Richard grumbled, before storming back into his living room and plopping down at the table. "Pan's in the bottom cabinet... and please, don't forget to turn on the vent?"

Now was the time to talk, and Richard openly groaned as he made himself comfortable on the couch, even as his dog remained in the kitchen, eyes fixed on the man his owner had called a dirty word. "Let's get this talk over with."

"No, you are a drunken tart," Krishna shot back acidly. He was not going to take the blame for the other man's drunken antics, particularly when Richard was the one with the obvious crush! The florist had made his intentions clear from the very beginning. He rummaged through the cabinet until he found the pan he sought.

He placed the pan on the stove and then turned the stove on to begin preheating the dish. His rummaging in the cabinet had also found a bowl, which he now returned to retrieve. This bowl he placed on the counter and began to break eggs into. The shells he stacked inside the styrofoam spaces they exited. He had no intention of leaving even a single egg unconsumed so, for now, this would be the cleaniest way to dispose of them.

"Zinkenite is our leader." That seemed as good a place as any to start. He cracked another egg into the bowl before returning to the fridge for cheese. He would also need a knife to slice open the bacon but that could wait until he was finished with the eggs. Krishna left the cheese for now and returned to cracking. "He gave us this power. There are branches you can join. There is a place called the Rift - only Captains and higher ranks can go there."

Already in a pretty sour mood, being called a drunken tart was fitting though didn't do much for his temper. But what could Richard even possibly think to do in retaliation? He couldn't beat him as Buddingtonite, with all the enhanced strength, speed and other benefits of being a Negaverse officer, so what chance did drunk little Richard have against him. He was already sporting a pretty rad wound from the man and given that he now had the entire kitchen at his disposal, Richard bowed out of that confrontation.

"Right, right..." Richard grumbled, slouching even deeper into the couch and perhaps getting a little too comfortable. Sleep would likely threaten to take him, so he shuffled around on the couch, barely hearing Krishna's explanation but getting the important details. It wasn't that he couldn't hear him or didn't care, he just... he gave an exasperated sigh when he could not find a spot comfortable to sit yet uncomfortable to fight off sleep. He gave up and leaned against the back of the couch, looking like a cat that had found the most awkward position to laze about in and looking to Krishna as the man finally stopped talking. "Huh... what do you know... you can talk for long periods of time."

Before he could get too angry with him, he bobbed his head. "Zinkenite is lord, branches, and Rift... that you and I can't go to anyway. Sounds thrilling. So... what's our duties? Chores? Anyone to kill or do away with... for the glory of the Negaverse?"

Baldwin watched the packet of bacon with rapt attention, his whole body and tail very still, though it hinted at a little wag whenever Krishna's hand hovered close to it. He didn't beg or whimper, nor did he get in his way, but he really, reaaaaally wanted that bacon soon.

Krishna slid his knife through the plastic covering the bacon. He had finished cracking his eggs, and he had just added a bit of milk and cheddar cheese. Once he was finished with the bacon, he'd go back for the single head of broccoli he had seen in the refrigerator and check its freshness. He would prefer mushrooms, but broccoli would suffice. He noted Baldwin's hungry look as he peeled apart the bacon strips, respecting the animal all the more for his quiet patience. Without a word, the florist tossed a couple of raw bacon strips to the wolfhound in reward.

Now, if only his master could follow his example. Krishna snorted with amusement at the very thought of the talkative Richard ever waiting quietly and patiently. The comment about his own taciturn nature made him shrug as he sneered, "My actions speak." Now was not the time for a philosophical debate, however. Zinkenite had entrusted the new recruit's education to him, and Krishna did not intend to disappoint. "We fight Senshi. Recruit new officers. All I know."

He returned to the final preparations for cooking his omelette.

Baldwin's delight was clear to see in his entire form, from the perking of his flopping ears, the tongue that rolled out of his now open jaw, and the wag of his whip-like tail. The moment those raw bacon bits hit the ground, they were devoured within a matter of seconds thanks to his oversized tongue, and grateful for the bounty he was given, the Irish wolfhound took his leave and trotted towards the living room to join his master's side. He had gotten what he wanted even if it was raw, and while he could not understand the exchange of words that was going on between them, it did little to detract from his joy.

And some of that joy was contagious, as it forced a smile from his owner's lips, even if it was short lived. He gave Baldwin a scratch behind the ears, as he listened to Krishna's brief and to the point lesson. When he was done, at least he knew it, and Richard cracked a joke about it. "Oh, well, that simple? Well, let me get powered up and get right to that then!"

Not that he was going to mobilize now. What with the wound on his neck, the alcohol in his system, and now, the growing hunger in his stomach, he was in no mood to carry on his lieutenanty duties this evening. "So, this recruitment thing. Do we have a quota to fill? Is this like one of those... merchandise scams and I'll be hounded to the end of days if I don't fill said quota? Because if so... then is there a way out?"

Bacon and broccoli successfully added, Krishna poured the omelette mixture into the greased, heated pan. A slight sizzle was the only sound from the kitchen for a few momiments, but Baldwin's heavy steps and the clanks of someone rummaging through dishes soon followed. After setting a plate ontot he counter, he gave the omelette a flip. Now he just needed something to go with it...but what?

He let the planning of his meal take priority as he listened to Richard horse around in regards to their duties. It would take too long to bake anything when he felt this tired and weak. The florist knew his blood sguars were low, a combination of strenous activity and his very light dinner. He needed food now. He wriggled the steaming omelette onto the plate and placed the hot pan back on the stove.

After switching off the burner, Krishna moved quickly. returning to the refrigerator, he grabbed orange juice and butter. He then snagged the plastic end of a loaf of bread between hsi fingers. No need for utensils when the slices could act as vessels. He balanced the loaf of bread atop the jug and placed the stick of butter on one side of his plate. All of this he carried intot he living room where Richard sat with his dog.

The taller man claimed an empty recliner for his seat. Plate, bread, and butter were placed into his lap. The bottle of juice he took a sip from before placing it beside the chair. As he took a slice of bread from the loaf and scooped omelette into it, he finally replied, "I've told you what I know." Then, he dove into his food with gusto. Alleviating huner was currently more important than etiquette, but for his own vanity, he tried not to make too much of a mess.

Richard was wanting to continue his game of twenty questions with his friend, but the sight of him devouring the food after his brief and somewhat dismissive sounding answer more or less killed that notion within him. Like Baldwin before him, he looked at Krishna with hungry red eyes, but unlike Baldwin, he was not patient.

At all.

He sat next to Krishna and actually scooted closer to him to get a whiff of what he cooked up, and while he knew he wasn't getting any of that this evening, then maybe he could at least get a bite of the completely delectable omelette that Krishna cooked up?

It was worth a shot, anyway. "I was unaware that you were a chef, Krishna... perhaps if you were ever tight on cash I could hire you as a chef in my kitchen? I think I speak for myself and Baldwin when I say that we'd greatly welcome that change..."

The large Irish wolfhound could see bits and pieces falling from the hungered man and while he did not resort to begging like his master, he dropped his head to the ground and stretched his neck as far as he could in hopes of lapping up some of those crumbs. Not only did he wish to have a taste, but the less mess on the floor, the best, otherwise the maid would bring in that frightening device that hurt his ears.

Krishna had fully expected the noble Baldwin to hungrily watch while he ate and already planned to let the large dog lick up whatever remained on his plate. Seeing pieces fall to the floor, he swallowed and called the creature over, "Baldwin, come." He indicated the chunks of omelette on the floor for him, clearly giving him free reign to lick up what was there.

Richard's presence and more flattering form of begging, however, made him smirk. He tore into another piece of bread after scooping up some butter on it. He was biding his time and desperately filling his empty belly at the same time. His vanity wanted to focus on the acknowledgment of his superior cooking skills... but the part his mind instead focused on was the issue of money.

Did the candymaker know? had he seen the florist living out of his shop? Was that why he had offered the place for the night as one of the potential prizes for winning the sparring? Golden eyes narrowed suspiciously.

"Should eat." Krishna punctuated his statement by handing a slice of bread to Richard. "Then rest."

Baldwin did not need to be told twice, and the great Irish wolfhound all but trotted to the spot, lapping up the remains and crumbs with barely contained glee. It was a good day for Baldwin, but not so much his owner, who was feeling quite shunned right now. And Richard was never the type to hide it.

"You know... I'm starting to think you like my dog more than you like me..." Richard said with a sigh, feeling himself beginning to writher away and highly suspecting that Krishna would not really care. No, he was too busy being silent and spoiling his dog to even notice! "Give me a chance, Krishna... I'm sure you'll find me just as adorable as him..."

Though, that would have been a little hard and even he was willing to admit. Richard had no reason to suspect what was on Krishna's mind, and his next set of rants was cut short when the bread was offered to him. His frown was gone and his eyes were beaming, and he grabbed the food offered to him and took to it like a rodent given a banana chip. "Danke, mein Freund! I shall remember this generosity..."

At the mention of rest, he scoffed, before digging into his meal. "The only way you can have my bed is if I'm in it with you... Just a warning."

The rainbow-haired man spared a grin to the happy pooch before turning his attention to the pouting owner. He chewed the omelette in his mouth before shrugging. "Baldwin is quieter." He watched Richard begin to nom down on the offered bread and prepared him another slice, handing it over. The movement became a languid stretch, cracking his joints and and causing him to wince slightly. "But you are my partner."

"If you snore as loudly as you talk, then I'll be quite comfortable on the couch." Krishna licked the last of his omelette off of his fork and prepared himself another piece of bread and butter. He was still feeling a little peckish... but there were apples and other food stuffs in the fridge if he felt he needed more. The florist gave a nod and began thinking of that bath. "Bathe. Rest. Tomorrow, we train more."

Ever grateful for food, or attention of any kind, Richard accepted the second piece and devoured it a little faster than the last one. He gave Krishna a sneer at his snark, though he held no anger towards his dog, nor Krishna for making such an observation. Of course Baldwin was quieter... he was a dog. That hardly seemed fair at all!

But then, Krishna was quick to admit that they were partners, and that was enough to twisted that scowl upside down. It twisted into a more knowing grin, and while he should have just accepted it with silent grace, it was never in Richard's nature to do so. He had called him 'partner', and that was something that he'd never let go. "Damn right I'm your partner. Do not worry, Krishna... you know I treat my friends well."

And just like that, Krishna found a way to shoot down all hopes, and this time, he gave an indignant huff, before jumping to his feet and storming to the closet in the hallway. "Snore? Snore? No such thing! Just for that, you may have the couch and all of its... germs and diseases and things! You have fun with that!"

He grabbed a handful of blankets and sheets and all but dropped them at Krishna's feet, not noticing how close he came to dropping it on poor Baldwin until the horse of a dog leapt to his feet and scuttled away. He was so caught up in his little act that he barely caught that last bit, and he let Krishna know just how eager he was, perhaps allowing a little too much bitterness to cloud what attempt at humor he was going for. "Oh, yes, another chance for you to beat me up. You are cruel, Master Krishna! Cruel indeed!"

Consider this my closing post, m'lady!

"I am not worried." It was a simple response that answered both the statement about their friendship and the couch. He was not affected at all by the confectioner's display of flinging the door open or of plunking down the sleeping supplies--except when it affected Baldwin.

The other man might have sounded bitter, but still all Krishna did was smile. He scratched Baldwin's ears to soothe the poor creature, but that smile remained. When he looked up, his gaze was mellow and accepting. Perhaps because he was feeling good, despite their recent acqaintence. Richard was petty, dramatic, loud... and his. His with whom to train and to grow, his to use... his. All his. "Good night, Richard."

Richard gave an overly dramatic 'harumph' and snapped his fingers. It would have no effect on Krishna, but for Baldwin, the order was clear. One of his ears flicked in the direction of the 'snap' and he trotted towards Richard without a moment's hesitation, gathering at his feet and eager to follow him up the stairs. His tail wagged and he gave a forceful snort, as if to trying to tell his owner that it was time for bed.

And bed it was certainly time for, as Richard fought off the effects of an impending yawn, or maybe a burp, and he spun about and ascended the stairs, with his loyal Baldwin at his side. "Yeah, yeah, same to you too, Krishna... I'll try not to keep you up with my oh so offensive snoring!"

If he did, he truly didn't care. The moment he hit the bed, clothes, shoes and all, he was out.
