Elora laughed, her voice dry and husky. "Quite the opposite. This city was once ruled by a great and poewerful god, but times changed, and his realm faded, one day he ceased to exist and as he died so did the factories and the ports. The city became a shadow of itself, then war hit, and plague, the city began to decay, the people left and this is all that remains."

Maia laughed a little and shook her head. It seemed the blind way that people believed what they were told was universal. "You talk like you were here through it all," she mused and continued to watch her.

Elora laughed a little and nodded. "Well, perhaps I was." She challenged, raising an eyebrow. "Perhaps I saw it all, from the glory days to the destruction."

A rather huge grin slipped across Maia's lips and she stepped further into the room towards the pretty woman. "So you're definitely not human than," she grinned with excitement. "You must tell me everything. It would be such a waste to have come this far and not hear the whole of your tale," she grinned.

"My story, do you have a century or two?" She joked, watching the girl with a smirk. "I am not human, no, nor is my partner. We were here when it was in its prime. Though my story starts long before I came here. Make us some tea and lunch and I will tell you."

Maia was very happily listening to Elora's story unfold as they ate the lunch she had prepared. It was an utterly fascinating story to be sure. A woman, made of clockwork, and all of the things she had seen and done. It was simply amazing and she couldn't stop the questions that kept popping out of her mouth each time she paused to take a rattle-y breath. When she finally drew her story to a close, Mai sat in rare silence for a moment and considered everything she had been told. "So... if you are clockwork and not flesh and blood, do you feel as I do?"

Elora nodded, her throat felt dry after her talking. "Yes, it is my curse I think. I feel everything that a human does, though I am not real. I do not know how I feel, what the engineering is behind it. I just know that I do."

Maia's eyes lit up and she picked herself up from her spot on the floor to crawl a little closer to her. "Could... Could I touch you?" she asked, her mind going a million miles a minute. She was completely entranced with the idea of how intricate she must be.

Could she touch her? That was an interesting question. "Um, if you want to?" She said softly, she was no stranger to being a curiosity. her earliest memories were from the freak show where people would pay to stare at her."

Maia smiled warmly at her permission and she reached out to gently touch her hand. She was warm and it felt like skin beneath her fingertips. "You feel real to me," she smiled more as she got a little bolder and lifted her hand gently to turn it over. Carefully she traced her fingers along the creases of her palm. It was just like that of human hand, she marveled.

Elora watched the girl as she examined her with childlike fascination. "I am real, very real. I suppose. An enigma, though I suppose it makes me interesting. What are you looking for? On your adventure."

Mai smiled and turned her eyes up to hers. "I think it makes you incredibly interesting. Do you know how many boring old humans and other run of the mill races there are in this world? You're the only you I've ever come across in all my travels," she grinned and set her hand down gently before sitting back on her heels. "I'm not really sure what I'm looking for. I just... knew there was so much more to the world that digging down into its depths. I wanted to see and experience everything. I wanted to meet people like you," she smiled warmly.

Elora laughed a little and smiled. "Well then I am glad you found me and met me. It has certainly brightened my day talking to you." She picked her sewing back up to work on. "Are you planning on staying? We could fix you up a bed if you were."

Maia's eyes opened wide and she clasped her hands together. "I am so glad that I have found you as well then! I would not want to intrude though if my being here will be a problem?" she asked. "Will your husband mind?"

"I don't think he will, especially if you are able to make yourself useful around here. We've been trying to rebuild this place as much as possible. Really make it our home."
