If it wasn't for the fact ********* was looking back constantly, Anemone would have definitely wandered off into another room. In fact, she had opened one of the doors to find a linen closet somewhere along the way. It was disappointing because there was simply nothing in there of any interest in the dark, not even something to walk into. Yeah, she tried. Luckily towels and sheets are fairly soft.
The stairs were a problem. Anemone didn't know this house and not expecting there to be a drop so suddenly, tripped. She caught herself on the wall before looking to make sure ********* wasn't under her feet before slowly making her way to the rest. When she got to the last stair, not expecting them to stop, almost tripped over her feet again.
How tiresome. There was a distinct sigh from the girl.
Thankfully, it was an easy path to the kitchen and the fridge was easy to open. It took her a moment to realize ********* wanted her to open the door but eventually she did. She didn't know exactly what to do afterward and grabbed the most interesting thing in the fridge: a jar of pickles. She held it out to *********, offering them to her.

Pickles were her friends.
Pickle jars were not quite as friendly to the manx.
She pressed a paw against the jar and slid it down. Obviously, this did not open the jar. It wasn't that ********* was stupid. She knew she needed her opposable thumbs and perhaps larger hands to get the jar open in the conventional manner.
The unconventional manner was not something to take into consideration at the moment, since breaking glass would probably draw some attention from Ellie's parents.
With a couple delicate sniffs, the feline glanced into the fridge to see if she could locate a better alternative. With a paw, she pointed to a Styrofoam container.
"...maybe try one of those..." she whispered. This was a family of frequent fast-food connoisseurs. Perhaps there was something in one of the many take-out boxes.

Anemone didn't seem to understand ********* motions, and watched curiously as the cat's paws pressed against the glass jar. It was strange, and Anemone thought she'd understand more if she kept watching but she didn't. She watched her, her eyes following the guardian cat's motions until they settled on one of the Styrofoam containers.
Eyes on a new target, Anemone's hands dropped and placed the pickle jar on the floor before raising them back up to reach for one of the containers. A slight pop, and suddenly Anemone was staring at what appeared to be a stir-fry dish. Delicately her hands reached into the opened box and pulled out a small amount of noodles from the container, tossing it into her mouth only to spit it out almost immediately. There was fennel in it, and Anemone didn't need to remember she didn't like fennel for her taste buds to.
"Eeeeeeeeweh," she shrieked, forcing the container at *********>

********* eyes shot open wide before she soon enough was trying to quiet the girl with a "Shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh..." The last thing anybody needed was for Ellie's parents to prematurely learn about Anemone's presence in the house.
The stir fry obviously didn't register as something that the girl liked, though ********* wasn't against sneaking a small mouthful, munching on it before she mentioned "...put it away... get another..." in a quiet voice. Once more she attempted to point to a different Styrofoam container.

Anemone tilted her head slightly to the side when ********* made the 'Shhhhhhhhhh' noise with curiosity and slight understanding. It was a sound which many cultures adapted and something she'd heard people say before even if she didn't actively remember it. It caused her to lean back a bit, scrambling to put the take out container back.
Were they the same? Were they different? She needed to know! She grabbed another take out container and inside was a burrito! She took a bite of this new food and decided immediately that it was better than the other one. So, with a smile on her face, she offered a piece to *********>

It seemed that the container Anemone picked this time around was something Ellie had picked up on a previous day. The smell of the sauce was enough to give the feline such a clue.
The girl seemed to perk up slightly after taking a bite, which was a good sign. The hint of a smile also seemed to touch the girl's features, which caused the cat to smile as well. A smile which stayed as she moved in and gobbled up the piece of burrito that Anemone had offered.
Perhaps this all would work out? It seemed that they had found a way to communicate, even if it was a hassle to work in such a manner. And when Ellie woke up, perhaps some other things could get sorted out as well.
With these thoughts lightening up the feline's mind, she let out a content purr.
