The result was silence.

Sunny looked around the kitchen, at the mess she'd created, not saying anything. It was messy, true, but for all she knew, that was supposed to happen. She'd never really done much in the kitchen before, even though she knew her dad and her brother were into cooking. They were good at that sort of thing. Apparently, she wasn't.

"Why didn't you tell me earlier?" Her voice was quiet, which for Sunny was highly unusual. She didn't yell or protest or accuse. Being mad wasn't really something she did. But she could be hurt, and confused. "I thought... you said I was doing a good job. If they needed more work, I wouldn't have minded watching you work s'more, learning how you do it. 'Cause I know you're good at this! It'd be kinda silly for me to be as good as you so quick, but you just made it look so easy and all..."

Meekly, she put the fork she'd been using back on the tray and stepped away from the counter. "Can I at least help clean up? Or should I just go, 'fore I make things worse?"

In an instant, Candy went from being angry to embarrassed, and sad. "Oh that didn't come out right." She said desperately, seeing how Sunny's face and attitude had fallen. Great. Now she wouldn't have a friend anymore!

"I'm really sorry Sunny. I just....I got caught up in doing this. I totally forgot that others might not be as good as me and when I saw that you weren't doing it right, I didn't want to seem bossy and rude..." She sighed, poking at the ground with her front hoof. "I should have just told you how I felt, and been honest when you asked my opinion. Then I could have at least given you pointers without hurting your feelings like I did right now."

Poor Candy Dandy felt close to tears, and her eyes misted over as she looked down. She sniffed, wiping her nose with a forehoof.

"I'm awfully sorry."

And just like that, Sunny's smile was back. Being upset was hard work, and she really didn't like it. It was so much easier and, well, fun, to be happy. And to make other people happy. Though it seemed that she hadn't exactly been doing a great job of that, she thought, looking at the cookies again. They were pretty messy, now that she looked more closely.

"It's okay, really! I mean, I'm okay. I'm just sorry I messed up your project. I'm sure it's still yummy 'n all, but you wanted it to be yummy AND pretty, right? And I guess it's not so pretty anymore." Was there even a way to fix things now? Just because Candy wasn't really angry with her didn't mean that everything was suddenly okay.

Thank you so much for rp-ing with me! You have no idea how hard it was to find someone! XD

Candy sniffed again, and looked up into Sunny's, well, sunny face. She didn't seem to be mad at all! The pink filly could hardly believe it.

"So you promise you aren't mad?" she said, offering a smile smile that paled in comparison to her companions.

Candy too stared at the pile of things in front of her. She got really close to some of them, examining them. There were wheels turning in her head as she scratched her curly mane.

A minute of two went by before she shouted "I GOT IT!" Her hooves worked quickly, leveling out the frosting on the cookies that had some, and spreading it on the ones that didn't.

"Take those broken cookies and stick a small bit of frosting on the back. Then put those wooden sticks on there so that they look like stems. It's ok if they aren't completely covered in chocolate or anything. It will work out for my idea..."

The two fillies worked quickly, enjoying the time together. When it was all said and done, Candy stood back and looked at the basket they had made.

Instead of whole flowers, there were broken ones, some that were chocolate covered, and some with frosting. Scattered throughout the flowers were gummy caterpillars with happy little smiles. The apple moths Candy had worked on earlier were placed on the sides of the basket, and on the handle.

"Life cycle of the moth!" she said triumphantly, offering Sunny a hoofbump. "Moth-Drops is sure to love this! Thank you for your help. And...I'm sorry again about earlier. We can still be friends right?"

Once she saw Candy Dandy's reaction, Sunny knew that she'd handled things the right way. What purpose did getting mad serve? Absolutely none, as far as she was concerned. But being happy meant that she could make her new friend happy as well, and she couldn't hope for a better outcome than that. "Cross my heart, hope to die, stick a needle in my eye, shake your bottom if you got 'em!" And then she giggled, because that sounded so silly, but it was just the sort of thing that was needed to seal the deal and get them back on the right page.

Candy Dandy really was good at this, and Sunny almost couldn't believe that she'd found a way to take the mangled cookies and make something cool out of them. And that she could help! This time, she made extra sure to watch closely, and ask for help when she wasn't sure about a set of instructions. She also made sure to keep talking, even though they were both working. Part of the problem, Sunny decided, was that they had been working separately instead of together, and that was no fun at all. Now they could chat and joke and laugh as they worked. It kept Sunny from worrying about how much better Candy was at all of this stuff, and it kept Candy from stressing out over things. Everyone won!

"It's great!" she nodded, returning the hoofbump. Not that Sunny had a clue about moths or their life cycles, but it looked yummy, and if not pretty, very cool. "But you know, I don't think this basket will have a very long life cycle!" she giggled. Fortunately, there were broken bits of cookie that hadn't gone into the basket, and she popped a small one into her mouth to keep from snacking on their masterpiece. "Of course we're still friends, CanCan! You're totally funtastic! And this was so awesome- I can't wait to do it again sometime!"

It would take a lot of work on her part, practice and patience and several new jokes, but Sunny was determined to make this friendship last. If they'd survived one fight already, she was sure they could make it through anything!

[The pleasure was all mine! <3 Congratulations on finishing CD's elements!]
