"Aw, little leverets... I bet they're cute, but awkward looking with those rather long, scrawny legs and ears of theirs!" It wasn't often that Buddingtonite gushed, but he had his moments. He recalled when Baldwin was that small- he was the runt of the litter and was in poor health, but he helped nurse him back to health. He could only imagine how small the rabbit would have been at such an age and it made him gush all the more. Eventually, he contained his girlish squeals, if only to nod his head. "Yes, I'd recommend not transforming in front of her... heard those things have weak hearts and the sight of your radiance would certainly do her in. We wouldn't want that."
The new recruits decision pleased him, and he wasn't afraid to let it show. He welcomed Amethyst with open arms, literally, as he gave the new lieutenant a big, unexpecting hug, risking spilling his drink over himself but completely okay with it. "You've chosen wisely then, friend! Infiltration may not get all the guts and glory of Spec-Ops, but we certainly come out of the fights with less injuries, and trust me, much more entertaining than being stuck in Intelligence."
He let him down, as he gave him a list of duties, as if reading off of a laundry list, before taking his place back on the couch. "We are to protect the citizens of Destiny City from the impending menace that is the former Moon Queen and her followers, the Senshi of the White Moon Court and their allies, the Knights. We are fighting to keep this city, and this planet, out of her greedy little fingers and preventing all of us from becoming her slaves as we once were in the past, so if you'd like, you can consider yourself a freedom fighter."
That was quite a mouthful, but what was Buddingtonite if not chatty?baby_gwing I am SO sorry... for some reason, it got lost in the sea of replies I owed! Let me know when you want to wrap this up!

"No we don't." Amethyst quipped, amusement lighting up his eyes as he chuckled heartily over Buddingtonite's choice of words. He would have to be very mindful of where he located Buttons and her cage in his apartment from now on in order to save the both of them some undue stress from the unfortunate foreseeable outcomes. The hug came seemingly out of nowhere and that surprised him as evident by the momentary widening of his eyes before he quickly returned the hug in kind while keeping a firm grasp on his drink so that he didn't spill it over the other Lieutenant. He really liked Buddingtonite already for his amiable nature and sense of humour.
"Less injuries yet at the same time more entertaining... I don't suppose you could let me follow you around for a bit while you go about some of your duties so that I'll have a better idea as to what it is an Infiltration officer does?" An on the job shadowing session should do the trick really in his opinion. Nothing like seeing things in their actuality versus words traded in conversations to get a better idea as to what their duties entailed.
He took another sip from his glass as the redhead supplied him with the answers to his questions next, a small frown crossing his face now at the gravity of what was actually at stake. "Slaves? How far back in history is this? You mean to say that the Negaverse, the Senshi and the Knights have been waging this war for a long time now?" A small pause as a furrow worked its way through his brows. "Why is it that the civilians know none of this..?"

Buddingtonite lounged around on the couch, listening intently to Amethyst and deciding right then and there that he definitely liked this kid. He was eager to please, but not entirely stupidly so, and he definitely admired an officer that knew when to ask questions. And what questions, too.
"You're welcomed to shadow me. After all, this is like having a second job and the best way to learn the ropes is by following Mama Duck around... I'll refrain from calling you Duckling or Duckie, though, unless you'd like the nickname." Buddingtonite explained, keeping his tone polite and pleasant and hoping he didn't come off as condescending, though if he did, then Amethyst would just have to deal with it. "We'll just try to set up a time that works best for you and make adjustments as we see fit until you can get your little webbed feet wet."
He bobbed his head up and down in confirmation for the next set of questions, however, that completely contradicted his answer. "Truthfully, I don't know the exact number. I hear some say a thousand years, but I'm sure they've either rounded up or down to make it more dramatic when they're telling the story. There was a great war in the past when the Moon Queen tried to make the citizens of Earth her slave, but the war that is going on now? This is different. There is no Moon Queen and we're not sure where she is, but with the Senshi popping up, it's a safe assumption that their queen is somewhere, lying in wait. We are either descendants or those of the past resurrected, and it's up to us to make sure they she doesn't come to power once more."
On his last question, he replied with a rather twisted smile. "There's an awful lot that regular citizens don't know, and sometimes, it's in their best interest not to know. The government lies to them all the time... hiding the depth of this from them? Easy."

"Only if you wish to be referred to as Mama Duck in return though I suspect that it won't be long till one of our superiors notices and inquires on how it came about." Amethyst grinned, not at all taking offense with the way the conversation had gone down as he supplied Buddingtonite with his own tongue in cheek reply. That didn't mean that he did not appreciate the redhead's willingness to work with him so that he could gain the desired insight as to what he did on a day to day basis and he made sure that he made exactly that known with his next words. "But that'll work for me and I appreciate your willingness to accommodate my request like this. Thank you."
Emptying the contents of his glass, he returned it to the table, pondering over what he had just been told. Though he might not agree with keeping the civilians in the dark over something of paramount importance such as this that dictated their future, he supposed that there wasn't any point in causing them undue anxiety and panic when this essentially wasn't something that they could do anything about.
"I see. If that is indeed the case, I suppose that we should consider ourselves privileged to be inducted into the Negaverse and given the power to ensure that a tragedy of that scale doesn't repeat itself in the present. So what are our instructions with regards to those who choose to side themselves with the Moon Queen?"
ChibiGingi Gosh Amethyst... why so many questions? orz Do feel free to wrap up with Buddy's next post by telling him to shut up or Buddy will kick him out of his place or something. Lol... ^^;

"I don't know, I have a feeling our superior officers wouldn't mind," Buddingtonite said with a lackadaisical shrug, finishing off the last remains of his drink and more than ready to power down and take to his normal, boring civilian duties. After all, he had a candy store to run, and that taffy wasn't going to pull itself. He accepted Amethyst gratitude with little argument, taking in his words and allowing that to fuel his already enlarged ego for now. At least someone appreciated his hard work.
When Amethyst kept talking, he took in his words and bobbed his head up and down, confirming his proclamation and hoping that he didn't come off as being extremely dismissive. It wasn't that he didn't want his ego stroked or to help the poor newbie out, but time was ticking and the Sugar Shanty wasn't going to open itself!
"Our instructions are clear. We are to prevent them from harming the fine citizens of our city, as well as our allies. Fight them by any means necessary, but don't go crazy and get yourself killed," Buddingtonite said, jumping to his feet and rubbing his gloved hands together, before motioning for Amethyst to follow him towards the door. "However, until we are needed, we must carry on with our regular every day lives, and I have a shop to open, as I'm certain you have other duties to attend to. Keep your crystal handy, and always be on alert..."
He leaned close to Amethyst's ear and whispered, mere seconds before powering down and motiving towards the door, only opening it when Amethyst had followed his lead. "You never know when they're lurking about." baby_gwing And that's a wrap for me!

All too happy to follow Buddingtonite's lead, Amethyst nodded at the other's words as he started towards the door after him. "Got it. I'll be in touch with you again whenever's a convenient time for you, Sir." With that, he too powered down to his civilian identity, his eyes meeting Richard's as he gave another nod to indicate that he was ready.
He had the next couple of days off for participating and winning in the Hunger Games marathon and he intended to spend it in a meaningful manner by learning as much as he could from the redhead about the Negaverse before he had to return to his duties proper back at Destiny City General Hospital.
