              Oh how wrong he'd been.

The anticipation and impatience had begun rolling off Aiyana like waves onto a beach from the moment she had the park in her reach, Isaiah had noticed. Her face had changed, she no longer looked shy or worried, but keen and eager. She wanted to be amongst those plants so bad, it actually began to make Isaiah feel a bit impatient. He was so happy he'd thought to walk through the park that he didn't stop to think what that actually meant until the woman took off with a cheery cry of “I'll be good!” Reaching out to stop her, Isaiah attempted to chase after her. He only attempted because he didn't realise just how fast the little spirit could actually run. Oh he'd easily keep up with her in his other form, but there was no way he was changing when she'd only just run out of sight. It was only once he'd gone to chase after her - the wrong way mind you - that he realised she had gone. Looking around wildly, her sandals dangling in his hands (he'd remembered to pick them up thankfully), he began to call out gently to her. "Aiyana?" Nothing. No mop of white and pink hair, no shy reply. "Aiyana??" He'd been able to smell her moments ago, what happened? "Aiyana!!" Okay, now he was worried. Standing still down the opposite end of the park, he shut his eyes and gripped her sandals. Shutting out all distractions, he inhaled slowly and deeply. Plants, grass, tree bark, sleeping flower buds... No Aiyana. No spring meadow, no shampoo or body wash - those scents lingered on her sandals - nothing. Rubbing his face, the wolf was surprised to find his heart was hurting. Had she run away from him?

No, she'd clearly said she'd be good, which implied that she was going to behave. Walking slowly down the path, trying to catch any sound or scent that was his pretty little flower, his phone ringing made him jump a good few inches off the ground.
              "Hey Helena..."
"I finished with my check up! Thought I'd check up on you and see if Aiyana's stuff came! Why do you sound out of breath?"
Oh god why did her tone have to switch to that tone? The tone of "you better not have slept with her". "I'm at the park, I've been running..."
"Why... Why were you running? Zaya, what's going? Why were you running...?"
"Aiyana... I offered to take her to the library and decided to walk so she could be in the sun.. Aiyana... She... She ran as soon as we got to the park. I lost her..."
"How could you lose her?? You're a wolf! What the hell Isaiah... You're meant to keep her safe..."
"I know! I know, god damn it, I know!! She just... The plants... The open space... Her scent just disappeared..." Why did he feel like he could cry right now?
"Oh gosh.. She's a flower spirit... All the nature... Her scent probably changes depending where she is... Do you want me to come down?"
"No... No, I've got to do this. I want to show her that although running off was bad, I'm not angry with her. I can find her, I'll just use my ears instead."

Saying goodbye to his sister, Isaiah put his phone away. So he couldn't smell her, and he couldn't see her. The next best option was to listen out for sounds out of the ordinary; twigs snapping, happy giggling, anything that might lead him in the right direction. Slowly making his way down the paths towards the middle where the lake was and all the flower beds, he kept his ears open. Nothing. Rubbing his face, the wolf was still certain that his ears would be the savior of the day. As long as he heard no screams, all was good. Coming up to the muted flower beds - only the hardy winter plants were in bloom, which wasn't many at all - he heard a weird topic of conversation. "Did you see? Some of the spring flowers were in bloom. How weird! There's still three weeks left of winter!" Freezing on the spot, Isaiah turned his head slowly but surely to find the direction of the chatter. Running off the path, he just kept going in the direction of the chatting ladies until his eyes took over. There, in a blossoming flower bed was the bobbing head of a woman with white hair and pink splices. He'd found his flower. Feeling like he could cry in relief (he was pretty sure he was), Isaiah changed direction so he'd walk up to the flowerbed front on so he wouldn't scare the spirit. One hand in his pocket, the other carrying her simple sandals, the wolf walked up to the woman with the biggest, happiest smile that his heart could provide. She was safe, she was happy, and best of all she hadn't left him.

"Hey petal, you having fun?" He asked softly, sitting down on the grass nearby, her sandals dangling from his fingers between his knees, which were slightly bent. God, why did he still feel like crying in joy? "I thought I lost you there for a second, you're a good runner you are." Chuckling happily, his body language clearly gave away that he was the furthest away from angry that anyone could be. Looking up to the sky, it was a little chilly, but nothing too severe. It was nice out in the sun anyway, especially with the warm weather making it's way slowly through the cool. "Take your time here, okay? I like it out in the open, it's calming. Just make sure I'm within sight, I'd hate to lose you or for you to get hurt and I can't help you." Tucking some stray hair behind his ear, the man couldn't help but smile at Aiyana and feel incredible joy. She just oozed happiness. Sure, her scent was utterly gone, even the body wash and shampoo smells had disappeared, but she just glowed. And it was simply amazing.

The flower spirit had no idea the worry or the fright she'd caused the werewolf. None at all. All she'd wanted to do was go play and since she hadn't planned on doing anything bad – like running away or even trying to purposefully hide – it never occurred to her that he would worry or be upset. And when he came up, everything she relied on to read her masters – body language, facial expressions, his tone of voice – suggested he was perfectly calm. Happy, even, with the smile he had and she was glad to see it. Seeing as how the flowers were making her so happy, Aiyana assumed they were the reason for his good mood as well.

At his question, she blinked and then nodded. The nickname was something new and she giggled a little bit before she even realized she had, she was so happy and lost among the blossoms she was making bloom early. It wouldn't hurt them, it was against her very nature to hurt plants and all it did was mean it would bring some early color to the park. If the plants would have died because of her, it would have broken her heart, but the simple fact was that they wouldn't. Nothing Aiyana did could hurt a plant, it was just what she was. And she was glad he wasn't making her go, either.

“I'm having lots of fun,” she told him honestly, the beaming smile that lit her entire face up never dimming, even when she spoke. The flower spirit seemed to glow from the inside-out, she was so happy, playing with the velvety petals and humming a bit. It was an old son and she didn't remember the words anymore, but it was still pretty. It made her think of home, but instead of making her sad like always, she was happy, remembering the good times. The flowers and the trees and just everything made an obvious world of difference to the deprived nature spirit, who'd been slowly dying until Helena had found her. It would have been a gradual change, perhaps over years or even decades – but she would have wilted as surely as an unwatered plant had, dying from lack of love and light.

She nodded obediently when he told her to stay within sight. While she appeared distracted, she really was paying attention to him. “I love it here,” Aiyana told him suddenly, the sentiment leaving her lips as she looked back up to him, that smile still lighting her up. “Thank you for bringing me, Isaiah,” she added, the first time and possibly one of the rare times she would use his name. Everything was so beautiful here, even in winter. She could feel the life brimming just under the surface, waiting to be brought out, and she couldn't wait until spring.

They were really going to have some problems when there were blossoms everywhere.

A flower caught her eye and she brightened. It was a small one, a purple daisy, and she gently picked it up. There was a faint glow about her hand as she held it, seeping into the stem. As soon as she returned it, it would grow back into the ground, putting down roots as if she'd never plucked it to start with. It was one of the only abilities she'd retained during it all, but was growing stronger the longer she was there. "Isn't this pretty, Isaiah?" Aiyana asked him innocently, beaming up at him as she held the flower out a little for him to see.

                      And using his name again.

Well this was a good start. Aiyana hadn't reacted badly to the nickname 'petal', but that was most likely due to her being so blissfully happy amongst the flowers. Even her reply was incredibly happy, and Isaiah felt like his smile was all thanks to her. Isaiah had been concerned that she wasn't really paying attention to him, but her obedient nod showed she was listening, and allowing himself a moment of silence, it was Aiyana that broke it. Raising an eyebrow, the man felt his heart soar even higher into the realms of bliss. Seeing her look back at him, Isaiah couldn't help but smile in a most wistful way in return... Until she said his name. Eyes going wide, the male was quite sure his stomach did a flip of happiness. Even if she never said it again, at least he got to hear his name spoken in a manner of joy and bliss. Phone vibrating in his pocket, the man slowly stood up to retrieve the item from his pocket. It was a text from Helena. Replying with a message that made him sound like he'd been utterly blind - saying he found her in a flower patch really did seem like it had been too obvious - he missed the beginning of Aiyana's most adorable display. Phone still in his hand, his head turned slowly as Aiyana said his name again, in a questioning tone this time, the sight that met him was the most adorable thing he'd ever seen; way better than a pack of wolf puppies.

There she was, the little whitenette with the pink splices, holding out a flower to him with the same charming smile. Crystal-clear blue eyes just stared at the woman for a moment, before they drifted to the flower out of courtesy and he tapped his finger to his chin like he was thinking. "Why, it certainly is petal. It's one of the most beautiful flowers I've seen." Of course, the rest of the compliment was sitting on the edge of his tongue, just waiting to spill fourth, but he didn't want to frighten her. Even if she was the most beautiful flower he'd ever seen. Looking to the phone in his hand, the wolf got a spontaneous idea. "Aiyana dear, Helena was just asking about you. Will you hold up the flower again so I can send her a picture of how pretty it is?" There was a chance that the flower spirit would have no idea what he was on about, and he really wasn't worried about explaining it if needbe, but Isaiah really did want to capture this moment. With the sun perfectly on the woman in the flowers, the man waited until she processed what he'd asked before holding up his phone and with a barely audible clicking sound, the picture was taken. Sitting back down on the grass, Isaiah went to go send the image to his sister when Aiyana began to focus on the flowers again. The way her braid hung over her shoulder as she re-planted the daisy, the smile on her face as she was surrounded by the blooming flora, the shade of blue that made the pink stand out... Simply beautiful.

Isaiah couldn't help himself in the end. While she was distracted with the flowers, the gorgeous smile stuck fast on her face, his phone lifted again and another photo was snapped. This memory was too precious to lose, the pure happiness radiating from Aiyana was something he didn't want to forget in case he needed to feel this way again. Sending the original first image to Helena, it was only a few moments before a very cutesy reply was sent back, which made Isaiah chuckle lightly. "Helena thinks your flower and your dress are very, very beautiful." The best thing about feeling so happy and carefree right now? His Irish accent seemed to shine through the most, the lilting tone lifting his voice to a whole different height of delight. This was the Isaiah that existed before Lilith. This was the happy, carefree man with the happy heart and soul, unharmed by the Vampire maiden. Enjoying this feeling of guilt-free happiness, Isaiah checked the time, it was getting close to the afternoon lunch rush. "Petal, we're going to have to get going now. The lunch rush will start soon and it will get very busy. We can come back another day though, I promise. I know this place makes you happy." 'Unlike my home...' It was a very depressing thought, and to be fair it was only their first day together, so why should she be comfortable already? Isaiah just couldn't help it, his mind often wandered down the path of sadness before it went uphill to happiness these days, he just wanted Aiyana to be happy straight up so he wouldn't panic and fret about it later on. Standing up and offering a hand to help her up, he just waited and watched with a grin, her sandals still in his other hand. His plan was to let her walk barefoot through the grass until they got to the footpath again, then she'd have to wear her shoes again. But at least she'd be able to take them off when they walked home through the park again. Sure it was still slightly wintery, but he just really wanted to see her smile again.

              ||ooc;; distracccccccctionssssssssssss >w< but he's being cute! Look! :3 ||

Aiyana had no idea how a phone worked, much less what he meant by asking to take a picture of her. So she just nodded, not thinking it would be anything bad, and didn't quite get what he'd done. It didn't look like he'd done anything at all, at least to her, so she resumed playing with the flowers, replanting the one she had taken carefully. The flower spirit certainly didn't notice that he took another one, the soft 'click' lost to her ears as she hummed happily to herself. Hearing him say something about Helena, the flower spirit raised her head curiously and looked at him in confusion when he relayed his sister's message. 'Beautiful' had not been a word ever applied to her, by anyone, so she wasn't quite sure what it meant. It seemed like a good thing, though, so she simply nodded before going back to amusing herself. It was soothing, and healing for her as well, and she didn't notice that even as she relaxed, so did the werewolf that was watching her. What was odd, however, was that she wasn't the least bit self-conscious or afraid of Isaiah – it was almost as if she had forgotten he was there entirely.

When he said it was time to go, a brief expression of disappointment crossed her face before hearing they could come back. That relaxed her face and she brightened back up, the happiness from the flowers sure to linger for quite some time after being starved from them for so long. The flower spirit ignored his hand, though, pushing herself to her feet and careful not to touch him as she followed after him. Aiyana was more than happy to go barefoot through the grass and sighed a bit when he told her she had to wear the sandals when they had reached the path. She had expected as much, though, and didn't put up a fuss, simply slipping them on before continuing to walk alongside him. Her desire to go back to the flowers didn't dwindle, but as they neared the library she was just as excited over that, her eyes growing large at the sight. While she didn't take his hand or grab onto his sleeve, the flower spirit stayed closer to him than before as they crossed the street and headed inside. Even as fascinated as she was by the sight, all the people were making her nervous and a bit frightened.

Once they were inside the quiet building, however, she relaxed a bit. There were people, but they were scattered about, absorbed in their own work and nice and quiet. She took a deep breath, smelling a library with all its books for the first time, and followed Isaiah quietly. Possibly the quietest thing in the building, the flower spirit was led over to books about plants and flowers and seeing the covers perked up a bit. She didn't notice when the werewolf left her on her own in the aisle – what he did or where he went, she didn't know and was too caught up in the books to even pay attention. Helena had made them sound so wonderful and Aiyana didn't want to feel so stupid anymore, either. Not if they were going to let her read and learn and know what things were, so she didn't have to annoy them with question after question after question. Humming a bit softly under her breath, she looked through the pages, touching them curiously. There were squiggles underneath the pictures, and some filled up the entire page, and her fingers slowed to trace over them. Frowning in confusion, Aiyana took a few moments to figure out what it was.

You read books. And no one had ever taught the flower spirit how to read or write. Her expression wilted as she tried to hide how upset she felt, swallowing hard. It all looked so wonderful and new and she was too stupid to even learn. Her other masters had been right, she thought as she looked down at the book, her eyes a bit shiny. She was useless. Everyone could read, it seemed like.

Isaiah didn't take offense to Aiyana ignoring his hand, he hadn't assumed she'd take it anyway, but he did feel a little bad for making her put the sandals back on. He could sympathise with not liking shoes - it had taken him a long time when he was younger to like them - but he knew the rest of the world wasn't as carefree as the hidden creatures of their world were. Plus, libraries tended to like it when you had shoes on; barefeet weren't very much liked in places like that. She still obviously didn't want to take his arm or hand while back on the footpath, but the wolf took comfort in knowing the little spirit walked close enough to be safe, at least now he could smell her properly amongst the rest of the smells of the city. And there was another bonus to her lovely scent as well - the dank smell of dusty shelves and musty floors of the old building would be hidden under her springtime smell. There was nervousness behind her scent as well as they crossed the semi-crowded street, hungry denizens looking for something to satisfy their hunger beginning to slowly spill out of buildings, but reaching the quiet sanctuary of the library, Aiyana seemed to calm herself as they entered the quiet sanctuary. Looking down at the pretty little thing, they walked past the front desk and into it's depths, a few people scattered about the place absorbed in their own worlds; university students studying hard, old couples reading timeless novels on a rare outing, professors getting some last minute ideas for lectures. As much as the smell irritated him, Isaiah had to admit he really liked being in a library. It was the perfect place to calm your mind and let yourself fall into a new, happy dream world.

Walking on auto-pilot, Isaiah didn't realise he'd lead Aiyana down one of the many aisles of books about plants, flowers and all types of flora. He wasn't sure if it was instinct, but with a quick glance at Aiyana, he knew his feet had taken him down the right path. The man was quite happy to linger in this section for her benefit, but a bewitching scent caught his attention. A youthful scent, one almost covered by expensive perfume flitted past and the man found himself following the smell. It was a young woman, maybe in her mid-twenties, wandering down another section all to do with landscaping. Isaiah hadn't meant to wander away from Aiyana (she seemed happy enough anyway), and instead watched the little brunette browse the books. She was tall and obviously worked out at the gym, for the disco pant leggings she wore were not for someone who lacked confidence. The crop jumper that lifted with each stretch for a book made Isaiah's eyes long to see something more, but just as he was getting the confidence himself to go talk to her and help her reach the books she couldn't (yes he'd sorted out a pick up line already), a new scent caught his attention. It was sad, almost wounded. Like someone had just been greatly disappointed by something, or had just had their excitement wiped out. It was close by as well, and with a whine from the back of his throat, Isaiah rushed back to the rows of books about flowers. He was sure it was Aiyana.

And he was right. Seeing her staring at a book like it had just wounded her greatly, Isaiah walked forward slowly and crouched down before the little spirit, his own eyes looking up at her in worry. "Aiyana my dear, what's wrong? What's upset you?" He wanted to hold her shoulders or caress her hands to make her feel better, but in such early days he was sure it would do more harm than good. Looking at her, then the book, then catching her distraught scent again, it clicked in his mind. He didn't need to hear her answer now. "Oh... Oh sweetie... Hey, shh, don't be upset okay? It's nothing to worry about. I can help you, no problem! How about I gather up some books and we go sit on the roof and have ourselves a study session, okay? It's no trouble, and I'm happy to do it." Like a father trying to cheer up his child, instinctively he placed his index finger under Aiyana's chin so she'd see the happy and willing smile on his face, along with his positive body language. "Let's get you some books and we'll head home through the park okay?" Standing up and waiting for his little flower to follow, Isaiah grabbed a few simple plant and flower books, a book about butterflies, one filled with nature pictures with barely any words at all, and a simple reading book from a novice section. He crept a book on the alphabet into the mix as well so he could teach Aiyana how to read each letter so she could teach herself if she wanted. With all that said and done, he lead the whitenette to the desk so he could check out the books - explaining what borrowing them out meant - and slinging the book bag the nice lady behind the desk gave him over his shoulder, he led Aiyana out the library and back outside to cross the road so she could go cheer herself up in the park before they went home.

And he said she could take her shoes off once they got back to the park again. Isaiah just wanted to see her smile once more.

The last thing she'd expected was for Isaiah to come running. She was still getting used to being around people who could smell like he and his sister could, after all. And she was definitely still adjusting to the fact that they cared about her – enough that if she got upset, they would come and try to find out what was wrong and fix it, too. Looking at him in surprise when he asked what was wrong, she was trying to find the words when he either understood, or decided not to press her. Aiyana didn't even flinch away from his touch when he lifted her chin up, too upset and then too confused as to what he was talking about to be afraid of him. Her eyes were still shiny with unshed tears, but she managed a wobbly smile back at him when he gave her one. She liked the idea of going to the roof, at least. And maybe he wouldn't make her wear her sandals, he hadn't seemed to care before.

Following him obediently as he found books for her, the flower spirit would have wondered why he had come running if she was in that sort of state of mind. Especially when there was a pretty girl he'd been about to talk to. As it was, she was too grateful he wasn't making fun of her, or getting angry about something, and watched him pick a few things, curious as to what they were. He was careful in explaining about borrowing books and she nodded to show she understood the concept. She knew of borrowing, so understanding how one took books from a library to bring them back later made sense to her. Besides, why would you want to keep all this knowledge to yourself instead of sharing it? That made more sense to her than anything and she was slowly cheering up. She almost took his hand as they left the library before clasping her hands behind her back. It had been an involuntary gesture, one she'd done with Helena, and for a moment she was comfortable enough with him to see him as she saw his sister – not a threat, a safe place.

But he was a male, she reminded herself.

Being told she could take her sandals off and go through the park again, she brightened considerably and smiled up at him. She did exactly that once they were off the asphalt, heading into the grass, but restraining herself from running off. Even though she wanted to, and didn't know how much distress she'd caused the wolf the last time, Aiyana was curious enough about the books to stay at a sedate pace, walking alongside Isaiah as he went through the park, not running around or climbing anything. She couldn't suppress her powers, though, and everything she walked past went into bloom. It wasn't something she even noticed, however, too used to being surrounded by flowers to even think of it.

Aiyana still didn't like the elevator, whimpering slightly, and let out a happy breath of relief once they were back in the apartment. Not hungry, she went right up to the roof and waited impatiently for the werewolf, looking around to figure out where she could put plants. 'Everywhere' was the answer that popped into her head and she was satisfied enough with it to stare with expectant eyes as he sat down with the bag of books. Plopping down on the other lounge chair, she clasped her hands together on her knees and just fixed him with a stare that made it obvious she expected him to 'fix it'. “How do I read?” the flower spirit asked plainly, wanting to learn that so she could learn everything else.

So far, so good. Aiyana had calmed down, and hadn't flinched at his touch. She'd even understood how a library worked; seeing as sharing and borrowing existed in most kinds of tribes and social groups, this didn't surprise him. Yet the concept of a library seemed to make Aiyana quite happy compared to anything else so far, and it intrigued him. He wasn't curious enough to ask her about it, but was quite content with her being the happy little bundle of cuteness she was at the moment. Plus the joy of her seemingly feeling just a tiny bit more comfortable around him made Isaiah quite perky. He had come to realise that it would probably take a long time for her to get used to living with a male, being around a male and that he wasn't like the other males she'd met, but he was determined to take all the good amongst the not-so-good. Plus he could make some good memories out of nothing, and the picture of Aiyana in amongst the flowers had already proved that point. Watching her smile up at him at the mention of being allowed to run barefoot, he picked up her sandals again as a sign of courtesy and walked at a nice, leisurely pace through the park. He was prepared to chase after her again, but seeing as she was incredibly calm this time around, he allowed himself to walk purposely slowly through every part he could in the direction of his apartment. The blooming flowers didn't go unnoticed though, and neither did the gradual disappearance of her scent again. Figuring that it really was nothing more than a simple camouflage reflex, he reminded himself to track down some jewellery store online and order a charm bracelet so he could hear her without seeing her.

Walk over, and sandals back on Aiyana for the time being, Isaiah quickly made it over to his apartment and into the elevator. Wishing there was a quicker way up to his apartment that didn't involve the elevator - Aiyana's body language alone gave away her dislike for it - he just settled for letting her ride it out in her own way. Watching her practically run for the roof, all Isaiah could do was chuckle in a light way and kick his shoes off and out the way. Removing everything from his pockets except his phone, the man grabbed a few items from the kitchen; the wolf was hungry. Thinking of Aiyana on the way to the roof, the wolf grabbed his entire fruit bowl along with some leftover steak from the night before Aiyana was brought around. The steak was as close to rare as possible, and shoving the leftover meat into a pita pocket to hide it from sight (along with some salad and dressing) and made his way to the rooftop. Watching Aiyana watch him, he wandered over and plopped himself down on a lounge chair opposite her and placed the bowl of fruit on a foot-stall nearby. Looking up at the woman, a mouthful of food stuffed in his gob, the look on her face made his heart melt. Oh gods why did she have to be so adorable? Her question was simple and to the point, and quickly (and as politely as possible) the wolf finished his snack and sifted through the book bag for the children's book on the alphabet. "Reading starts with the basic understanding of letters, and how they sound. Here, we'll start from the beginning." And opening the book, he began slowly at first, getting Aiyana to recognise the sounds of letters, then how they work, and helping her to pronounce them.

It was getting very late in the afternoon when the elevator doors in Isaiah's apartment slid open. Looking around the apartment and not seeing anyone - or hearing anyone inside - Helena chewed her bottom lip. What was going on? Rushing upstairs and not hearing any sounds made her feel a little bit better, but her brother was definitely home; his scent was fresh, and so was Aiyana's. Frowning a little bit, she quickly ran towards the rooftop and upon opening the door, got quite a shock. She hadn't expected to see Isaiah helping Aiyana to read. Oh it was so adorable.

While the werewolf began to slowly read to her and teach her how to pronounce things – and more importantly, how to recognize what she was reading – Aiyana did as she was told and said what he told her to say. It was important to her, why she wasn't sure, but it just...was. It felt like something she needed to do, should have done years and years ago, and it had been taken from her. Like something precious had been stolen and she had to get it back. So she didn't mind leaning in closer to the male to see the book better, watch him point out what he wanted her to say and what he was saying so she could see it too. There was no sense of panic, no fear of him, no terror that he might touch her. Instead there was just...curiosity, wanting to learn. It was the first time in years she had been this close to a male and not been scared out of her wits.

Before she knew it, it was getting dark out, the solar lights slowly brightening up the roof. Aiyana was too absorbed in it, her head nearly touching Isaiah's shoulder as she looked at the pages. She heard something behind them and turned. Seeing Helena, she brightened and scrambled to her feet, hopping over to the female and bouncing on the balls of her feet, eyes wide. “Isaiah is teaching me how to read!” she exclaimed happily, eyes bright. There it was again – his name on her lips like it was a completely normal thing. Bouncing, she felt a hand on her head and looked up at Helena, eyes going wider when she was told there was a present waiting for her near the elevator. Her senses slowly reached out, woken up by the park after so much time, and she giggled before sprinting away. The flower spirit was like a completely different person, and while it was sure not to last, the damage of centuries not so easily undone, it was a promise of what she could be if healed and loved.

Aiyana padded out down the stairs, leaving the siblings alone for a few minutes, and went over to the elevator to see a large flowering maple in a pot waiting for her. Her face lit up and the siblings would have been able to hear her squeal of delight a block away. Laughing to herself, the flower spirit hovered around it like a parent would their newborn baby, touching it gently and giggling happily to herself. The flowers brightened and bloomed at her touch, the leaves greener, the plant standing up straighter. Assured that it was happy there, she giggled again and scooted through the house, almost jumping on Helena and wrapping her arms around her torso.

“Thank you so much!” she squealed, a bright smile on her face. She paused when she got a whiff of something, the werewolf's perfume, and paused. Tilting her head a bit, she looked up at the woman in confusion. “Why do you cover up your scents?” she asked, having noticed that Isaiah had as well. “Should I do that too? Do I smell bad to you?” Aiyana asked, growing worried. She knew they had a stronger sense of smell than her and wondered if she smelled bad. Looking up at Helena, the male was behind her and she couldn't see him or his expression at all while she waited for an answer.

This was so embarrassing. Okay, sure, Helena had caught him in much worse situations - usually involving an almost naked female - but this was a whole different kind of embarrassing. Isaiah didn't mind being caught doing something adulterous, but being caught doing something kind and selfless was utterly different. The wolf had been quite happy to just sit on opposite chairs and lean over to show her what he was reading, but as the minutes ticked past the little spirit even came to join him on the chair, the two utterly absorbed in what they were doing to really pay much attention to each other. Okay, so maybe her scent did begin to cloud his head a little at first and he did begin to pay more attention to that than teaching her, but the more Aiyana began to quickly pick things up, the quicker his head began to clear up. So, naturally, when Helena just appeared, Isaiah quickly made space between himself and the beautiful spirit... Which ended up being pointless because the darling little cherub ran straight up to his sister, all smiles and bounces. Trying his absolute best to hide the grin that was tugging at his lips as she - yet again - said his name without a care (oh he was cherishing these moments he was), he instead watched as Helena just chuckled and placed a gentle hand on the white and pink locks of hair that were bouncing everywhere. This action seemed to calm the woman at first, but only for a moment because Helena announced that there was a present waiting for her by the elevator. An eyebrow was canted at his sister in curiosity as Aiyana ran off, leaving the female with a smug look on her face.

"So what'd ye buy her?" There it was, the lazy tone of voice punctuated with his thick Irish accent. Wandering over to her brother, the woman flopped onto a nearby lounge chair, arms crossed around her stomach. "A pot plant." Smiling a little sheepishly, Helena tried her best not to start chuckling at Isaiah's expression. "Really? You couldn't have waited until I'd gotten used to having a female living 'ere before givin' her somethin'?" Looking proud of herself, Helena just got herself comfortable. "It'll help her settle in. I think she really needs to be around plants to calm herself, she is a flower spirit after all. You don't want another repeat of the park, do you?" Rolling his eyes and holding up his hands in an "I surrender" manner, both brother and sister turned their heads to the roof exit as it opened again. Standing up to leave now she'd dropped off the plant and checked on the woman, Helena was almost bowled over by a fast-moving Aiyana. Chuckling in delight at the woman's happiness, Isaiah couldn't help himself and simply beamed. Maybe the plant would be a good idea after all. He was quite glad Aiyana wasn't facing him, because it meant he could smile and admire her happiness without her getting freaked out. The smiles were almost wiped away when a sudden question popped up, and both siblings just stared at each other for a minute trying to figure out how to answer the question. It was decidedly innocent, but it was just so spontaneous that it shocked them. "I-I.. Well, you see..." Chewing her bottom lip, trying to figure out how to explain such a thing, Isaiah cleared his throat and stood up, walking over to the bar to grab himself a cool glass of water, pouring one for Aiyana too if she wanted it.

"You don't smell bad at all, Aiyana dear. In fact, you smell like a fresh spring meadow and I hope you never cover it up." Taking a mouthful of water quickly, the wolf didn't hesitate before continuing on in case Aiyana began to feel a little bit uncomfortable at this little admission of his. "Helena and I wear perfume or other fragrances because we work in an industry that demands we be well-presented at all times. But yet, at the same time, because of what we are, we keep our scents hidden from other creatures that may want to expose us for what we are. In saying that, Helena prefers to hide hers in case some people try to track her down and hurt her because she is female. If she hides her scent behind designer perfumes she is harder to find. The same goes for me, I hide my scent because I know there are people out there that would wish for me to disappear so their own business could benefit." Taking another drink of water, he sighed softly. "Sure we like the smell of perfume and other sprays, but it's more convenient for us to hide our real scents for safety reasons. Like a chameleon using it's camouflage ability to hide from danger." With a smile, Isaiah hoped this made some sense to Aiyana, and finishing his drink, he went over and collected up all the books. "Come, let's head inside. We can continue after dinner. Plus we need to move your present into your bedroom, little miss." And with a happy grin, Isaiah lead the women inside and downstairs. The flowering maple really was quite pretty, and if it made Aiyana comfortable in his home, then he was all for getting her more plants. As long as she didn't get too many.

Plus he still needed to buy her a charm bracelet so he wouldn't lose her in the park again. He'd do that at bedtime.

              ||ooc;; LOOKY. I GOT YOU A POST BEFORE I GO AWAY FOR THE WEEKEND <33333 Go nuts if you want to have Helena and Aiyana move the plant to her room while Isaiah makes dinner o w o ||

Aiyana truly hadn't meant to shock them and for a moment she wilted a bit, thinking they were going to be angry with her. She had been curious before and the question had just popped out, since she was still thinking about the scents at the park and how wonderful it had all smelled. Looking to Isaiah when he cleared his throat, a bit of nervousness creeping back into her expression, the flower spirit listened attentively as he began to explain. Surprisingly, she understood better than he thought she might. After all, her scent changed to blend into nature, although she hadn't realized it and thought about how it would panic the male. But the flower spirit did understand how important scent was and how it might be needed to be covered for safety reasons. And then he went and added the bit about a chameleon and she nodded firmly, a smile back on her lips to show she understood what he was talking about. Watching as the male picked up the books and seemed happy enough, Aiyana nodded and trailed after the two wolves, the promise of more reading after dinner and a new plant to play with more than enough to soothe any lingering nerves from their reaction to her sudden question.

While the male went into the kitchen to cook, Helena apparently was the one going to move the plant to Aiyana's room with her. The flower spirit wasn't physically strong in the least, but did her best to help move it and was just glad it wasn't something heavier. Setting it down in the corner near the windows, Aiyana crouched down and cooed to the flowering maple like one would a baby, stroking a few of it's leaves and smiling widely. She missed her home, her family, having her small ones to love and care for. It seemed the innocent plant that the female wolf had bought her was going to be the surrogate for all of them, at least for now. It was the only thing she felt comfortable enough with to show so much love and affection, at least for now. "I heard Zaya took you to the park, darling. Did you have a good time?" Helena asked curiously, taking a seat on the bed and watching the spirit fawn over the plant with a gentle smile.

Turning around, Aiyana got to her feet and nodded. She went over to sit next to the other female, her hands clasped in her lap. "Oh, it was so beautiful there!" she said enthusiastically. There was color back in her cheeks, no longer so sad and pale and drawn as she'd been when Helena had first seen her, close to withering away and dying. There was new life blooming in the flower spirit, slowly but surely. It was certain there would be setbacks, but the seed had been planted and as long as the two wolves took loving care of the flower spirit, she was sure to return to normal one day. "It was so big, I didn't expect it to be so big! And so many flowers were there, I haven't seen so many in such a long time!" Her enthusiasm made her glow and she shifted a bit. "And then we went to the library, because you made it sound like such a wonderful place and I asked Isaiah if we could go there when he asked if I wanted to go anywhere. And it was so big too, and it smelled nice, and was so nice and quiet. And then he said he'd teach me how to read, so we came back here and he was showing me letters." It was perhaps the most the flower spirit had said in years, all bubbling excitement. "Oh, he said he took something of me to send you, a..."

"Picture?" Helena guessed, already fishing out her cell phone from her pocked. Aiyana nodded, clearly about to ask what it was, when the female wolf took out the phone and went to her pictures. She showed Aiyana the image and the flower spirit didn't look as startled as she might have thought. After all, she'd seen portraits and pictures in other master's homes - she just hadn't known what to call them. Tilting her head as she inspected the image, it was clear Aiyana didn't know what to make of it and Helena returned the phone to her pocket.

About to suggest they go check up on her brother, Helena giggled a bit when she heard the male calling out to them like some deranged housewife. He was obviously in a good mood and hearing his accent come back cheered up his sister immensely. Just one day and the little spirit was doing so much good for him. "Come and get it!"

Getting to her feet, the female wolf held out her hand invitingly. "Are you hungry, Aiyana?" she asked gently, as the flower spirit took her hand and got to her feet. Getting a nod in return, Helena smiled. "Come on, then. Time to eat and you can tell me more about what sort of flowers you like. I'm sure Zaya won't mind getting you some more," she added cheerfully, leading Aiyana back downstairs to the kitchen. The flower spirit obediently padded after her, clearly enjoying herself and holding the other female's hand tightly. It was obvious that the spirit missed having something to love on and be affectionate with.

Why was cooking so much fun? Isaiah didn't know, but it was definitely much more fun when you had people to cook for. He'd watched Helena and Aiyana follow him down to grab the plant and head back upstairs with it - Helena doing most of the heavy lifting - then stuck his head into the fridge to make something for the three of them that would satisfy his hunger, as well as something suitable for Aiyana. There was a singular steak he bought but had yet to cook, and it was definitely time to cook it. A good hearty salad would be made too, a heap of leafy greens and some crunchy raw veggies. And a new potato salad the wannabe chef decided last minute, the lure of sweet new potatoes covered in creamy dressing almost too tempting to turn down. The steak was to be cooked medium-rare and sliced thin like ribbons to hide under the salad to not upset Aiyana. He had said they eat red meat because of what they are, but he still didn't want to freak her out for it. Steak going into a fry pan, baby potatoes bouncing around in a pot of simmering water, all Isaiah had left to do was wait for it to all cook. Salads were simple, and he constantly had salad ingredients in the fridge, mostly spinach-based ones to keep his iron count up. If one looked closely at Isaiah's fridge, nearly everything in it was based around keeping iron levels in the blood high, and almost everything had some form of protein, the tofu standing out like a sore thumb. Was it odd for a wolf to eat tofu? Yes, but protein was required to help muscles repair, and he did almost anything to keep his body in pristine condition so he could function. Werewolves may be part animals, but their human forms still needed taking care of.

Dinner being taken care of, Helena happily chattered away with Aiyana. By chatter away, it really mean "listen to Aiyana's excited babble" and smile and nod. It had only just been about twenty-four hours, but Aiyana seemed like a totally different woman. She had colour in her face, and was very animated while talking about her day out with Isaiah. Helena was honestly surprised he'd done all that for the little spirit, but her brother was good-natured behind all his other... Issues, so treating Aiyana like a proper lady wasn't unusual. Just, odd, especially given his current downward slide into the pit of floozies. It was cute how happy Aiyana was, and when she came around to talking about Isaiah taking a picture of her, Helena couldn't help but jump in. Fishing her phone out her pocket, she swiftly entered her image gallery and found the photo that her brother had sent. It was a lovely picture, the sunlight directly on Aiyana, making the pink of her hair stand out against the lovely shining white locks. The woman didn't seen to totally understand the premise of the picture, and Helena made a note of that; she'd make sure to explain to Aiyana what exactly a photograph was so she wouldn't be confused or startled if Isaiah decided to play photographer again. Stomach growling a little, Helena was seriously hungry, and just as she thought of going to check on the dopey male, his voice carried upstairs. "Come and get it!" Oh jesus, he was becoming domesticated already? It was close to Spring, two, maybe three weeks away so her own urges to find a mate and settle down were beginning to show, but she didn't have someone living in her apartment that would push those feelings into overdrive.

"Are you hungry hungry, Aiyana?" She asked, standing up and offering out a hand for Aiyana. A nod and an acceptance of her hand was enough for Helena, and took it as an obvious 'yes'. "Come on, then. Time to eat and you can tell me more about what sort of flowers you like. I'm sure Zaya won't mind getting you some more." It would be good dinner conversation, and a great way for Isaiah to learn more about Aiyana in a slightly cheeky way. There was something about the way Aiyana was acting that made Helena feel they were doing something right. She seemed totally different now she had a plant in her room, and heading into the kitchen, Helena found a most lovely meal before them. "Dinner!" Exclaimed Isaiah proudly, sweeping his hands above the table to show off the meal he'd made. Three plates were laden with salad, potatoes covered in a light creamy dressing, and even a couple of vegetable patties for Aiyana Isaiah found in his freezer; the patties were handmade by Helena who's made them as an experiment. "I tried to hide it for you Aiyana my dear, but Helena and I have some red meat with our meal. I hope you won't feel too uncomfortable about it, but we do need it every day. If it disturbs you, we'll all eat in the living room so we can still chat, but you won't have to be near it." Without waiting for Aiyana to answer, Helena pipped up. "Let's sit there anyway! It'll be comfortable and relaxing. Aiyana, how about you tell us about your favourite plants and flowers, hmm?" Grabbing her plate and leading the way, Helena plonked herself down on a couch and smiled at the two near the table, waiting for them to follow suit.

Aiyana obediently followed the female wolf down to the kitchen, looking at the food curiously. It all looked good, and smelled good, despite the fact she didn't really need to eat physical food. Especially not after all the sunlight she'd finally gotten. The spirit wasn't quite sure they understood that and between the sunlight and the fruit she'd eaten earlier, she was rather full. Making a mental note to explain, she blinked at Isaiah in confusion when he said he tried to hide it. It? What was - oh, meat. Looking between the two as Helena headed into the living room without waiting for another word from either of them, Aiyana took the plate he motioned to with a small smile. "It doesn't bother me when people eat meat, honest. I just don't like it myself, but thank you for thinking of that. You don't have to hide what you eat." As long as he wasn't eating bloody, raw meat from a carcass he'd just killed, she was more than fine with it. Looking down at her plate shyly, the flower spirit quickly padded into the living room and took a seat next to Helena. She understood how to use silverware just fine and didn't need to be shown, picking at the food curiously, as she had no clue what it was or how it would taste.

She was pleasantly surprised and picked at it, truly not hungry, and looked between the wolves as they chatted for a few minutes. It sounded like business, or something of that nature, before Helena returned her attention to Aiyana and asked again about what plants and flowers she liked. At that question, food was entirely forgotten and the spirit perked up. "Oh! There's a flower called Hartlage Wine I saw once in a greenhouse, it was so pretty. I remember the Kadupul flower, I saw it once, but I haven't had the chance to ever see it again after that." There was a certain note of longing in the flower spirit's voice as she thought about the white flower. "And then there was the Koki'o and the Jade Vine and the Chocolate Cosmos..." She was using the common names for the flowers so they might have a better mental image of what she was talking about, at least for some of them. "The wild blue lupine is so pretty and bright, it's almost a purple. The Seven-Son flower, I remember that..." Aiyana sounded almost dreamy as she talked about the flowers, wishing she could see them again. She missed them, so much. "Lilacs are pretty, they're everywhere and smell so good. And anything that flowers, like the maple you brought me...I sort of like everything," she added sheepishly, realizing she'd been going on and on and sounding probably a bit like a lunatic. Well, she was a flower spirit, after all.

Taking a moment to think, Aiyana looked down at her plate in surprise, as if she'd forgotten it was even there. "Oh, um, I should explain something," she added, sounding more embarrassed than anything. And maybe a bit nervous, as if thinking they would say she was lying or exaggerating. That, and the last master she had explained this to had locked her up to see just how long she could survive without sunlight. "Um, being a, um, a flower spirit, I, uh..." The stutter was back and growing worse as the bad memories filled her mind, making Aiyana shrink in on herself, as if trying to retreat. It was obvious it was something in her past making her behave this way, rather than either of the wolves, and her scent only confirmed that. Fidgeting a bit, she couldn't bring herself to look at either of them again and her scent started to fade, mingling with the flowering maple upstairs in her bedroom, even though it obviously wouldn't hide her. "I, um, I don't really need to eat that much," she said, her voice having dropped almost to a whisper. "I mean, I can get food from, um, sitting out in the sun, I don't need to actually eat. I mean, it tastes good, but I'm not very hungry and I'm sorry, I should have said something to you before so it didn't go to waste, I didn't think about, please don't be mad!" The last bit came out in a burst of a breath as she finally looked up between them, clearly worried they were going to be angry.

Sitting in bed flicking through images on his iPad, Isaiah had the smallest grin on his face. Tonight - no, today - had been one of the best days of his life. He'd been a bit wary of spending time with a woman who wasn't his sister (or wasn't trying to sleep with for that matter), but it had turned out pretty nicely... Aside from the whole 'losing Aiyana in the park' incident. That was the whole reason he was still awake, scrolling through image after image of boring charm bracelets; he needed to give her something to stop him from losing her again. This whole scent thing was handy up to a certain point when her scent disappeared completely around nature. Going from shop to shop, it gave the man time to reflect on the evening and how nice it had been, especially seeing Helena come out of her shell a little more. He'd yet to see any changes in himself - he was still getting his own way thankfully - and Helena hadn't pointed out any nice things yet about him. Growing ever frustrated with this fruitless search, Isaiah decided to think back to a few hours ago.

Aiyana had admitted she didn't mind they ate red meat, which was a huge bonus in his books, and he was very unlikely to eat something raw in front of her unless he'd killed it himself. Out in the wild. Away from civilisation. In his wolf form. He'd been too stuck on his own thoughts that he hadn't noticed Aiyana picking at her food, as well as Helena trying to point it out; there was food in front of him and he was hungry. The man wanted to eat, but he wasn't opposed to listening to the sweet little spirit talk about the kinds of flowers she liked. Hartlage Wine, Kadupul flower, Koki'o, Jade Vine, Chocolate Cosmos, Seven-Son flower, lilacs, the flowering maple and the one that stuck out mostly in Isaiah's mind; the blue lupin. There were obvious reasons for this one flower in particular to stay rooted into his memory banks, and that was simply because of it's common name. But the whole conversation had been stuck so fast in his mind that he'd actually had to jot down the flower names just to get them out of his head; Aiyana had been so happy and excited while talking about the flowers she liked it was hard not to listen to her. There was a slight longing that had been in her voice too, both wolves had picked it up and had given each other a glance. Whatever flowers they could buy, they knew they'd end up getting for the lovely little woman, even if the strong scented ones would mess with their noses. 'It's what I've got a roof garden for.' The man shrugged to himself, somewhat surprised he hadn't thought of that earlier on in the night.

An interesting bit of information had been revealed too, in the shy way that Aiyana had (that Isaiah was very quickly beginning to like). She didn't really need food, but could survive on sunlight. Looking out his window now, the iPad sitting forgotten in his fingers, Isaiah could still recall how her scent faded away to mix with the maple's a floor above, like she was trying to hide herself. He'd found it momentarily amusing when Helena and himself had put their plates down in unison, but that was pushed aside at his pretty little flower's concern and embarrassment. "Oh Aiyana, sweetie don't be upset." It had been Helena to comfort the girl first, and thankfully so in his mind for he would have just pulled her into a tight hug, kissed the crown of her head and told her not to worry and he'd keep her safe and never ever be mad at her. Of course, he'd still never ever get mad at her, or feel like hurting her for admitting something about herself they probably could have figured out for themselves if they'd just stopped to think (flower spirit, was almost stupidly obvious she could survive off sunlight). Scooting over so he was closer, but still not close enough to make her worry, Isaiah just smiled. "Petal, it's okay. You're allowed to mention these things whenever you can. It's something important about you, and you shouldn't be ashamed of it. You're allowed to tell me you're not hungry for food, okay? We can store it for later." A few more kind words and some coddling from Helena, and the siblings finished their dinner only once they were sure the little woman was alright.

It was Helena who'd taken all the dishes to the kitchen and promptly tidied up, for Isaiah had grabbed the books from earlier in an attempt to cheer Aiyana up so she'd forget about possibly making them mad; which she'd never be able to do, the siblings would never get mad over something like that. Turning back to his iPad as he settled on this replay of a few hours ago, he found new vigor in searching for the perfect bracelet as his mind replayed the events that lead up to bedtime. Helena had said good night and Aiyana had thanked the woman once again for the plant, and then in front of the gas-powered fire (it looked like a real fire in the fireplace), he'd settled on the fluffy rug to show Aiyana some more about reading and writing. While he felt all cuddly and ready to just hold her close while she sat in his lap learning to read, somehow he'd managed to keep himself at a comfortable distance away so she wouldn't be afraid of him. It had gone on for a nice couple of hours, until Isaiah decided it was time for bed; she'd had a long day and it was only fair she got to spend some time with her new plant before going to sleep. Bidding the woman goodnight, he got himself ready for bed, and that's how he ended up where he was right now, scrolling through image after image of bracelets that just weren't good enough. Until he refined his search: custom charm bracelets.

Feeling a little stupid for not thinking of this the first time, Isaiah tapped the first link that popped up, and found instant satisfaction. You could custom order any kind of bracelet and in three days it would arrive. With almost childish glee, Isaiah went about picking charms for his flower's bracelet; every kind of cute flower charm he could find, a ladybird, a sun, a bright green four leaf clover and his crowning choice - a small golden bell. Choosing a 24-carat gold link bracelet to hang them all from, he put in his details, and felt most accomplished as he locked the device and settled down into bed. Finally comfortable, he was just dozing off to sleep when the most horrifying sound hit his sensitive ears: Aiyana had screamed.

Leaping out of bed, the wolf pulled on a jumper to cover his bare chest, and making sure his long flannel PJ pants were secure around his hips, he let himself into Aiyana's bedroom without a second thought. "Aiyana? Ssshhh petal, hey, it's okay. I'm here." Settling himself on the edge of the bed and pulling her into his side, his hands rubbed her back as he placed his chin on top of her mop of white and pink locks, completely forgetting things like 'personal space' and 'keeping his distance'. "Don't fret now sweetie, I'm here. I won't let anything happen to you, don't be scared now, you're safe." And he meant it too; he planned to keep Aiyana safe from all the bad things in the world, forever and always, as long as she was with him. As long as he could be around her, he'd keep her safe and never let anyone hurt her. He'd even protect her from himself if it came to it, sending her to go live with Helena and sending himself far away if it came to it. He hoped it would never happen, but with his past, he couldn't be so sure something bad would one day happen.

              ||ooc;; Aiyana bby it's okay, Isaiah is there for you <3 ||

The relief she felt when they didn't get mad at her was almost palpable, and her gratefulness that they weren't going to punish her for eating her food was bordering on pathetic. It wasn't that the little flower spirit thought them so cruel and mean like her other masters - but it was what she was used to, what she expected now and feared hoping for anything better only to have those hopes crushed as well. So when Helena just wrapped her up in a hug and coddled her, and Isaiah reassured her that he didn't mind her not eating, she let out a sigh of relief. Despite the fact he'd been the one to work on the meal and food, and Helena was going through so much trouble for her, neither were angry with Aiyana and she didn't know what to make of it, simply snuggling back into Helena for a moment before letting the female wolf finish her meal. She continued to pick at her own food, since she really did like it, and ate what she liked the best while they did. It felt too odd to just sit there and watch while they ate their food, but she did enjoy listening to them talk and liked hearing their accents. Isaiah's was thicker, she noticed, and wondered why he hadn't had it when she had first come here. Was it the camouflage thing he had spoken about? Maybe. It was nice to listen to, at least, and she smiled a bit as Helena got up to do their dishes. Aiyana was going to go help, but found herself sitting down on the rug with Isaiah instead, lured in with the promise of the books he'd been reading with her earlier.

She really was unable to resist them. After being kept ignorant for so long, the flower spirit was longing to learn things and reading just sounded so wonderful. There were so many things in books - her masters always had large libraries she'd been forbidden from going in and she loved the smell of them when she passed the doors. Always so earthy. The idea of being able to read them, to know what mysteries the tomes held that she could finally know after so many years, was more exciting than either sibling realized for the flower spirit. It was certainly an excellent way for her to overcome her fear of males, as Isaiah was so patient and quiet with her and gave her space, never coming too close or touching her. She would be hard-pressed to never be afraid of males, and females, again. But Aiyana already loved her master's sister dearly, she was so sweet and kind it was impossible to be afraid of her. And while she was still leery of Isaiah, the marked change in her attitude with his presence was remarkable and promised what could come if they continued down such a path with the fragile flower spirit. Her loving nature was coming out bit by bit and having something to love on and care for, the flowering maple, gave her a sort of purpose that had been sadly lacking in her life since her capture. Once she had been sold into slavery, tending to plants had become a thing of the past - her gentle nature had been warped and twisted into something terrified and fragile with so much abuse. But she was still able to be healed, slowly but surely.

Once she was alone in her room, Aiyana sat herself next to the flowering maple. It was easy to reassure it that it was safe - it was able to sense her and knew this was a good place to be. Murmuring softly to it, cooing to it like a mother would to a child, she watered it with a few tears as she thought of her old life and her home, and her family that had been torn from her so brutally. Crimson staining the warm summer grass, the white petals of the flowers in her daughter's hair...shaking her head, the flower spirit let the memories fade into her subconscious for now once more, the only way for her to truly cope with them. Shuddering, she got to her feet and went into the shower, enjoying the rain from inside the small thing above her. She kept the water lukewarm and merely stood under the spray for a long while, trying to get the images out of her head. Speaking to the siblings about how she lived, the memories of that past master coming to her mind...it had been so long. She'd tried so hard to block it all out and in the peace she'd managed to find in the mansion, even as she slowly died, the horror had faded from her mind. Tears mixed with the water as it dripped down her cheeks and she looked at her feet, not feeling like moving. She just wanted it all to go away, so badly. Why did it still hurt, after so much time? Weren't things supposed to get better? That was what a slave had told her once. That it wouldn't hurt so much after a while.

After a long while the flower spirit crept from the shower, toweling off and squeezing the water from her hair before combing it. Brushing her teeth like Helena had shown her, she put on the nightgown bought for her and slipped into bed after kissing some of the leaves of the plant. Sliding in under the silky sheets, she shivered and curled up into a ball on her side, hugging a pillow and hiding her face in it. She just wanted it all to go away.

It had been a long time since the nightmares. There was no need for her mind to make up monsters, however - they all lurked in her memories, waiting for her guard to be down to creep in and trap her. There were so many, but the most recent ones flooded her mind, brought to the surface by the talk she'd had with the wolf siblings at dinner. The room was so, so dark. So dry, not a bit of moisture, even in the air. How he had managed that, she didn't know. Was she in a basement? A box? There were no windows and it was impossible to tell the time. The man hadn't bothered to chain her up, although one was wrapped around her waist and attached to a ring in the wall, as if he thought she might reach the door and somehow escape. After months in that horrid room, Aiyana had lost all hope and was simply waiting to die. It was the fugue that she had been caught in when Helena had found her, except a thousand times worse. It was the certain knowledge that your body was withering, your soul was dying, you were slowly losing your mind in a terrible black space with no end in sight. No flowers, no wind - no sun, no water. Nothing. Not even footsteps above her head or beneath her feet as she sat on the hard ground. If she could have gotten sick, she would have. As it was the flower spirit was wasting away, pale and cold, the color gone from her cheeks, the pink almost faded completely from her hair like a flower's petals falling off as it died. The master came in every once in a while, simply to see if she was alive, that was all. Notes, he called it. An experiment. All she knew was that it was a living hell. And then one day, he had come in - and as he turned to leave, someone was behind him. Something? She didn't know. Another slave, another tortured soul, who had managed to free themselves and take revenge. They had slaughtered the man before ripping the chain off of her, and finding others the man had tortured to free as well. Only in her dream, the master wasn't dead. As she stepped over his body, his cold fingers wrapped around her ankle and she was falling, being tugged down, down into a blackness she'd never escape from. All she could do was scream, hoping someone might hear and help her.

And then there was something warm and tight around her and she clung to it, another scream being choked down. Aiyana curled up to whomever it was, shaking violently, pale and sobbing as her fingers gripped his shirt, her face buried in his chest. She was in his lap, she was so close, trying to get as close to the warmth and safety she sensed as she possibly could, all fear of him banished for the moment. Being jerked out of the nightmare was startling and she couldn't stop crying, the first time she really had since the man had bought her and put her in that room. She'd cried and cried the first few days, sobbed and pleaded and begged to be free. She'd be good, she promised, if he'd just let her out. And he'd laughed. But this person wasn't laughing. That soothing Irish lilt told her she was safe, that they were there, that they wouldn't let anything happen to her. So she just cried until it hurt, her shivering slowly subsiding until she was worn out and hiccuping a bit, feeling a little sick from crying so hard. "Don't let him get me," she whispered shakily, her voice barely audible as she hid against his chest. "Please, Isaiah. I don't want to go. Don't let me go back there."

There was nothing more heart-wrenching than hearing a woman cry. What was even worse was hearing a woman scream out in fear, in such fright that it made hairs stand up on the back of your neck. That's why Isaiah didn't hesitate to run to Aiyana, to try and ease her pain. It must have been a dream, for her room was in perfect order, and it must have been an absolutely horrid dream. What past atrocities had this poor, darling spirit been subject to? What horrible people could even bare to mistreat such a clearly innocent and delicate being? Feeling her body tremble in his arms, Isaiah felt like his heart was going to break. All he could do for now was offer up soothing hushes and gentle reassuring words in his thick Irish accent. He couldn't tame the accent now, a combination of fright and general sleepiness was making it pour out like a waterfall.

Eyes glued to the top of the head of the poor scared thing curled up against him, Isaiah sighed. Aside from cooing reassuring words, what else could he do to make her feel safe tonight? She'd never be able to sleep again if she felt like this place wasn't safe, and after all the work Helena had done so far to make sure she felt comfortable. There was one option, it was a huge risk, but she knew what he was. If this was the best way to watch over her during the night and to make sure she felt safe, then he'd go the extra mile. Peeling the frightened woman away from him gently, Isaiah made her look him in the eye. "Petal, I'm jus' goin' t' my room for a moment, okay? I'll be back. I'm not goin' tah leave you, okay?" Making sure she fully understood that he would be right back, the man left her room, making sure to look back over his shoulder with a reassuring smile.

Isaiah kept his promise, he'd come right back. But not as a human.

Changing forms in front of Aiyana wasn't something he really ever wanted to do. To change forms, he needed to strip his body free from all clothing. The man was pretty sure Aiyana wouldn't want to see him naked right now either. It was a quick change, painful, but quick. There was nothing nice about joints moving and bones reforming. But, as always, there was an odd kind of relief at the feel of being in his animal form once again, a sort of momentary high to stretch in a way that humans could not. Feeling a little proud and a little worried at what the scared woman would think, the black wolf with the shockingly blue eyes trotted down the hall and back to the room that smelt like a beautiful meadow.

Sticking his nose into the room first, he pushed his head in with a small whine. He couldn't speak now, so the whine was mostly to let her know he was there. Padding his way on in, he went straight back to the woman and shoved his nose into her hands, snuffling into them a bit. Placing his head on her lap, he simply stared up at her, a dopey expression on his face as his tail wagged to and fro. His eyes were the same colour regardless of his form, but his fur was darker in his wolf form than his human. If Aiyana didn't understand who he was at first, Isaiah soon made it apparent by jumping lightly onto the bed and pushing his head under her arms to give her the most awkward wolfy hug ever. Eyes shut as he used his furry body for comfort, Isaiah's plan was to stay the night in his wolfy form. There was no risk of him turning back into a human randomly as it was a conscious and physical effort to change. The man just wanted to make sure his dearest Aiyana felt safe for the rest of the night. What else was safer than having your own personal wolf-guard?
