Nathan grinned at her innocently, without any trace of being innocent at all. He noted that he had not done a very good job mixing, but he supposed she should have anticipated that. He was not the kind of guy that put in much effort into most things.

He saw her pick up some of the goop, though, and tilted his head warningly, one eyebrow slightly raised. He looked tense, shaking his head from side to side slowly.

"You don't want to do that."

His sharp mohawk would not take kindly to having goop dumped on it, and he didn't like the way it looked when it was all sad and floppy. He got hit by both attacks, trying to curl out of the way and laughing, coughing on the flour.

"Alright, alright!" he lunged at her, grabbing her hands to keep her from throwing anything else at him. He looked like a ghost now.

Castille was laughing, covered in sugar and vanilla. But Nate looked worse for wear to her, absolutely coated with flour. His hair, face and shirt's original colors were lost underneath the layer, though his eyes managed to poke through.

The kitchen was now a fair mess. The counter next to them had a light dusting of flour, and the floor showed footprints where they had moved.

She let him grab hold of her, mostly because she couldn't stop laughing and was out of ammo anyway. Her eyes finally opened with tears of mirth at the corners. She looked concerned for a moment, then smirked and said "Hold on, you have something on your face."

She took a step forward and reached up with his hand still attached and dusted the flour from his nose and upper lip.

"There, much better!" She said, trying hard not to laugh again.

Nathan made a face at her as she made to 'dust' the flour off his face, which did very little to help him. He grinned at her though.

"I've got a little dust on me, eh?" He laughed and moved, tugging her to him and wrapping his arms around her, hauling her up off the ground and twisting her around against him, just so she got her own fair coating of flour.

Sharing was caring.

"There, I think I got most of it off," he said, putting her down and stepping back. He had smeared the flour around on his clothes and arms, and given her a lot of it. His face was still covered though, and his hair was sticky.

He was going to have to take a shower when he got home, so his dad didn't ask him any weird questions. And the walk home was going to be rather hilarious. For everyone else, at least. Maybe he would just power up to cover the fact. That did seem like the easiest solution.

Castille wasn't expecting him to move, and she practically fell forward into him as he tugged her arms. Her heart practically jumped out of her throat when he picked her up and she shut her eyes, instinctively putting her arms around his neck while he twisted her about. She wanted to shout, but her heart was caught somewhere around her vocal chords, shutting any sound she could possibly make off.

When he put her down, it took her an extra moment or two to realize that she was flat footed again, and another awkward moment of opening her eyes and being that close to Nate. She quickly dropped her arms, taking a step back even as he did and leaning against the counter, avoiding his eyes by plucking at her now flour covered shirt while her pulse tried to find a normal rhythm again.

"You got most of it off onto me!" she said, trying to sound indignant, but mostly just coming off as amused. "And onto the floor." she remarked, kicking at a tuft of flour by her foot. Her foot slid effortlessly, and Castille noted that walking was now going to be difficult until she managed to sweep it all up.

"Well I think that the cookies are effectively not going to be done right now."

Cookies? Was that what we were doing?"

Nate grinned at her, watching her as she pulled away from him. He had to admit, her crush on him was cute, and he was very aware of it. He didn't tease her for it, either, and maybe that was because he didn't want to lose it. Everything was complicated now, because of his relationship with a Dark Mirror senshi. But did that count?

It wouldn't be fair to pretend his civilian and senshi lives were wholly separate, but he considered it, sometimes.

He looked around the kitchen, frowning.

"I could help you clean this up," he said. A profound offer from a guy that was usually too lazy to clean his own room.

Castille knew she couldn't hide her emotions very easily. Her sister often gave her grief for it because she had a hard time winning arguments when she couldn't help but show she was upset. Not including the fact that she told him that she thought him attractive, she figured he could see right through her.

But strangely, he didn't choose to tease her about it. Nate wasn't one to let an opportunity go, so Castille wondered why he chose to ignore this one. She wasn't going to ask. If he was going to pretend it wasn't there, that was more than enough information for Castille. He wasn't interested, or else he would have said something right?

She smiled despite the tiny ache she felt and moved to the side of the fridge where the broom and mop were kept. She handed him the broom and dustpan while she extracted the mop and placed it in the sink while turning on the water.

"Every time I hang out with you, I always end up covered in something." she said, laughing and scrubbing at the counter with a sponge. "Dirt, paint and now cookie mix. Can't you ever do anything clean?" she teased.

Nathan was, unfortunately, the kind of guy who did not know how to deal with his emotions properly. He had matured quite a lot, really, since becoming a senshi but he was still woefully short in some areas. Understanding emotions like that was one of his major shortcomings. It was easier to just play it fun and fancy free, and ignore any of the harder tugs at his feelings.

But he was finding it hard to do even that, these days.

He skipped a very inappropriate joke he could have made at her comment, instead following her lead and starting to clean. He was bad at it, as it turned out, since it was not something he did very often and his standards of clean were often followed by the 'enough' sentiment. That was clean enough.

"Nah, I'm a dirty boy," he said with a grin. "But you can't say you don't enjoy it, right? And you'll come out and do something else fun with me, if I asked you to, right?" The confident Nathan Darrow was testing the waters, he supposed. Playing it safe instead of jumping into the puddle both feet first. Maybe because he didn't want to mess up this time, for once.

Her hand paused in its rotation, and unless he had seen the slight head tilt from the back, there was no indication that she had truely heard him. But she definitely had. Ignoring the 'dirty boy' comment and focusing on the latter question.

This was different than normal Nate. His voice lacked the arrogance that was usually there and while she couldn't see his face, she assumed he didn't look the arrogant part that he played so well. What was different about this?

Unless...

He wasn't asking her out was he? She felt a familar flutter in her stomach, similar to what she felt right before the server hit the first serve of a game. It was nerves, but they lacked the anxious association. Castille took a breath, just like she might even as the ball rose into the air, and looked over her shoulder, smiling away the nerves.

"How can I say no? I may have to do laundry afterwards, but I always have fun with you." She went back to her scrubbing, smiling to herself as she swiped the flour into the sink to be rinsed down the drain. Test the waters, see how he reacts.

Nathan was having a very difficult time sorting his head out. He wanted to spend more time with her, and definitely didn't want to risk losing her friendship by messing things up, which was odd enough for him. He was usually okay with people not liking him.

Friends came and went, and he was fine with it, for the most part. But he found he was growing more loyal to the ones that stayed around, and he was learning what it really meant. Maybe that was part of being a senshi, or maybe it was just growing up and out of his 'rebellious' phase. Not completely, of course, but something.

He smiled at her answer, nodding though she wasn't looking at him.

"Alright then, you'll have to come out with me again."

He should tell her, about the dark senshi, or at least about his strange relationship issues, but he wasn't sure how. So far, he had just been pretending it was just this separate little thing, existing in its own plane and time. He doubted he could get away with that. He didn't know if he wanted to.

Castille didn't share the same fear of losing Nate as a friend as he has of losing her. In her mind, she didn't lose friends. There were certainly people that she didn't like, and since becoming a senshi, she knew there were people out there with more than a dislike of her. She could accept these people as lost causes. But she had yet to lose a friend that she had made. Nate traipsing out of her life if this became strange and different didn't once cross her mind.

She was too happy to think of the new experience coming her way to remember that these sort of things had a way of messing up current situations if they didn't work out.

So instead of worrying, she nodded, tossing the sponge into the sink with the now sopping mop and polishing her clean counter with a quick swipe of a dry towel. With practiced ease she turned and jumped backwards, landing in a sitting position on the countertop. At this height, she looked to be close to eye level with Nate.

"So when are we gonna hang out again? And should I bring a wet suit, hazmat suit or perhaps fencing gear?" She leaned against the cupboard behind her, giggling. She really was only half joking.

Nathan watched her, tilting his head as she sat on the counter and smirking at her. He relaxed a little, deciding to just let things go as they would, for now, and see what came up. Was there harm in that?

If there was, he hopefully would see it coming and head it off.

"You could always just not wear anything," he teased, finding his usual humor again after a moment of searching. He moved closer to her, watching her with his keen, dark eyes. Not warm like his father's, but not wicked in a cruel way. Dangerous, yes, but mischievous.

"Easier to clean up that way, no matter what happens. Actually, I don't have a good idea yet what we can do. We could wing it, I'm sure there are some things to crash going on around the city, right? We'll find something and hit that."

She stuck her tongue out at him at his remark, crossing her arms. She noticed his look, and chose to look back instead of ignore it as per the usual.

His looks were always so interesting, almost predatory. He had looked the same way at her when she first met him, both as a civilian and senshi. She wondered why he always looked that way. Alert, and watchful. Like he was waiting for something to attack in just the next moment. It contradicted with the usual relaxed stances he took, and the slouching when he sat. Maybe those were just fronts. Castille wondered if he ever truly relaxed.

It must be tiring having to be so alert all of the time.

"Winging it sounds eventful." she agreed, unfolding her arms "As long as I don't end up in jail. And I think I will choose to wear clothes thank you very much. Don't want to get cold." she added, smirking.

Nathan grinned at her as she stared back at him, thinking she had changed from not being able to meet his eyes. It was a small thing to notice, but he was rather impressed about it.

"Alright then, winging it. That's settled, though I can't promise anything about jail. Cops these days get uppity about their weirdest s**t sometimes," He laughed, knowing full well that he was usually very aware of when he was doing something against the rules.

Which he would likely do when they went out, but he had to think about it a bit first.

"So we'll meet up in a couple days or something, It might take that long to get all this crap off." He looked down at himself, as if remembering, with a frown, that he was covered in flour. It had been fun at the time but now he was wondering if these clothes were goners. Tony would have a lot of fun trying to wash them, at least.

"I should go get cleaned up before this becomes permanent."

Castille laughed, remembering that she too would need to get in the shower whe he left. The cookie mixture had hardened, making her hair clumps of sugary mess. She could also feel where it clung to her face and neck.

"Well you know, they tend to frown upon activities that break or deface things. Part of the reason why they don't like senshi. Or negaverse for that matter." She felt funny saying the faction names out loud when she wasn't powered up. It was like, whispering a swaer whe you were six years old. You knew full well that you shouldn't, but part of you wanted to see what would happen anyway.

A guardian cat didn't come flying through the window to scold her, so Castille figured she was ok.

"I don't think it would be permanent." She said, regarding both of their clothes with humor. "Though a change in color palette every once in a while is good for you." She hopped off the counter, intending to walk him to the door.

Nate grunted his reply, patting the top of his head in a distracted manner. His hair was suffering, he was sure of it, but he would just have to fix it when he got it washed and gelled again. He liked to look like he put in no effort, and for the most part it was true, but he just could not bear the idea of his hair being normal and goofy looking.

He was sure he looked like the biggest nerd without his mohawk.

Or worse, like his dad before he'd grown his hair out.

He moved to the door and grinned, pausing for a second and watching her. He moved to kiss her on the cheek swiftly, as if he didn't want to be stopped or caught, then slipped out the door in a blur of flour dusted color. He closed the door behind him, shoving his hands in his pockets, which he discovered were full of cookie ingredients.

She made him feel goofy and awkward, and he wasn't sure how to deal with it. Yet it wasn't something he wanted to avoid, which had to mean something.
