Amrita looked over her shoulder at Jericho, and then at Shun as the Reaper questioned their little clean up. "Yeah! I guess there's an obstacle course under this thing. It'd be helpful, yeah? Since the gym went to pieces." They'd tried their best, but...well, that was a shame. She'd miss the gym, but had to be honest that she liked the little thing she had going where the Haunted House didn't always make itself known to her. Her health was thanking this disaster, really.
Red demanded answers from her, and for a moment the Patchwork stilled in her work, staring like a doe caught in the headlights. With Hel's assurance about her own room though, the Patchwork made a rather confused face. Was she imagining it? Wait...How could she imagine her room being eaten? "Umm...you mean, you didn't notice the shadowlings a couple days ago? They woke me up in the middle of the night! Ate most of my room...I ran out here and they were just snacking away on everything. Myself and a few others tried to save the gym, but..." The last part of her quick little summary was with a softer voice, her gaze lowering as if she knew she had done something unsatisfactory.
"...You remember too, don't you?" She lifted her head, suddenly very concerned about her own memory and looking pointedly at Jericho, whom she knew was there that night.

Hearing his name, Jericho turned towards the dark skinned reaper and gave a sort of awkward smile. "Hey!" he greeted, though there wasn't really the light of recognition with his eyes. In an attempt to avoid an awkward situation, he turned towards the patchwork and nodded at everything she was saying. "We tried to hold them off, but.. it seems it wasn't enough," he frowned, "But I don't think anyone was really hurt in the attack, so there is that!"That should be a good thing at least. Though, he didn't completely know if that was the case. ------ Shun nodded silently to Hel as she greeted him. So this was to uncover an obstacle course then. Taking this in, he just nodded, deciding that he would indeed help out with this. Assuming that the course was a difficult one, it should provide a good challenge to help push his limits. It was another way to train himself that was a bit different from the normal methods. As far as the talk of the attacks went, he frowned lightly to hear that the gymnasium was hit as well. "The gates to the school were struck as well. We managed to fight them off, however," he explained. Where else was hit then, he had to wonder?

Jove fluffed up proudly. Nothing had eaten his precious mushrooms! He had smacked it right out, and either the rest had been scared out, or his foxfires finished the job. He grabbed another handful of vines, this time tumbling backwards onto his fluffy tail as they gave way under him. Quote: Damage: 11 Obstacle 1: 456

Roch jerked, hearing a familiar voice-- And stared at Hel. Just. Stared. Then, after a moment of letting the whole no longer dual toned thing sink in, snorted, shrugged, and whacked the vines again. Then he moved to Jove's side, reaching up and messing up the pup's hair. "Wanna work together, bro?" he asked quietly. "I can chop it up and you can move it away?" Quote: Damage: 10 Obstacle 1: 446

West had found himself defending the gym that day purely by chance. After the shadowlings had been defeated, he hadn't recalled things looking that bad, but that might have been because he'd watched the place slowly get destroyed. From the way Red was slicing and dicing out here, he assumed things in the gym were worse than he remembered. He didn't waste time with any friendly waving or formal greetings, he simply began ripping up weeds. Or at least he tried to. They were tougher than they looked.

Red barked a short laughter as Amrita began to explain. "I can't notice things if I'm not here, cub. Given my current... status I heavily suspect that a gym class won't go over too well, and without a class to teach I've been pulling extra Boogey shifts. Halloween isn't the only world with its problems." The werewolf sawed through another vine, sighing as she looked up at the gym. "At least the gate is still standing," she replied to Shun. "A majority of the spells that are used to keep the gym running were damaged. It's too dangerous to go in. Then again," she added, "I guess I'm lucky it's still standing, all things considered." The werewolf's gaze drifted across the assembled students. "A lot has changed, it seems. Regardless, it's good to have old things like this around." Red patted the obstacle course fondly, raising her voice. "Listen up. There's a lot to clear, but so long as we keep it up and pace ourselves we'll get this sorted out. All though," she looked thoughtful, tossing another piece of foliage to the ground away from the group, "If memory serves me right, there may be... things running about further in."

Shun shot Red a glance as she said she was pulling extra Boogey shifts. So she had rejoined their ranks then? He wasn't entirely certain what to feel about that, but he soon just nodded as she went on and spoke about the state of the gym. "Were any other areas attacked?" he asked anyone who happened to know. If the gym and gates had been assaulted, along with various dorm rooms, he wouldn't be surprised if there was another area somewhere as well. In any case, he went on to strike the vines again with his daggers. "What sorts of things exactly?"Minipets was probably the short answer to that, but there could always be other things.

"Oh.."So that was the issue then. Jericho hadn't known that it was spells that were keeping the building up. If he did, maybe they could have done more to help defend it. Well, he supposed it was something to keep in mind for the future. "Alright!" he said, with a little more enthusiasm. There was quite a bit in their way, but it shouldn't be too much to handle. They had quite a few people here after all. Cracking his knuckles, he went to try and tear away some more vines.

Red considered as she tore a vine off of the stone surface she was perched on. "There are... were all sorts of things," she began. "By now these vines should have awoken and retreated. It is rather saddening, though I suspect a good number of you would voice extreme displeasure upon being attacked." The professor sighed, shaking her head. "But this obstacle course was more than a test of physical needs. When I was a student I helped a friend of mine on their exam. In here," she jerked her thumb over her shoulder, indicating the course behind her. "My friend and I had to find a tribe of gnomes and work out a peace deal with them. The thing is, they weren't exactly in a mood to talk given their situation... but regardless, considering how long this place has been unattended it's possible that things may have drastically changed." "...I...I didn't know you were off campus. Sorry." Amrita murmured sheepishly to Red's explanation. It made sense, but it wasn't really something she had thought about; history or not, she always just pictured and assumed Red would be the gym class teacher, as if nothing happened. That train of thought was weird coming from her though, since she was so hesitant with Riley and now, to some extent, Jericho.
"Is there anything we can do to help with the gym itself?" She felt almost obligated, since she was one of the ones who had tried to save it and failed. For a moment she went back to work, sinking her fingers into the nearest set of vines to give it a hefty tug. Her footing failed her, her toes slipping in some mud to send her slipping to the ground, her attempt to pull the vine failing.
"Oooowwww..." The ghoul whimpered on reflex, despite not really feeling the impact. As she scrambled back to her feet she heard Red's little story, which was enough to pique her interest. "What kind of deal did you have to make?"

Red's reply caused Shun to furrow his brow. Mostly at the mention of there being a gnome tribe somewhere around? He was unaware that gnomes had tribes at all. Not only that, but it really had him wondering just what this obstacle course was exactly. Perhaps it wasn't quite like Trial by Fire or Terror Warrior in that case. He didn't say anything else just yet, as Amrita asked about the deal she had to make with these gnomes. He had to admit that he was curious as well. While he awaited to hear the answer, he cut down another chunk of vine.

"Why do you think the vines hadn't moved on their own then?" Jericho asked Red. She said that they should have retreated at this point, but they obviously weren't doing just that. "Do you think they're trying to hide something from us?"That was one thing he could think of for why they weren't letting them through so easily.

The gym teacher shrugged off the apology from Amrita. "You didn't know, cubling," she chided with the shake of her head. It wasn't as if she advertised it, either. For her it was slip in and slip out and the less others knew of it the better. Or so she felt, at least. Jericho's questions were answered with a worried frown from Red as she stood up and turned, looking over the obstacle. "No. Something should have happened. This obstacle course doesn't look like much, but it's a... gateway, I suppose. We should have been picked up and brought in, where we would have had to navigate our way out." The teacher gave an apologetic grin and shrug to the assembled students. "I figured it would have been easier to show this place off to you than to tell you about it. However as it is..." She shook her head. " You can stop removing the vines, it doesn't look like we're getting in this way." The teacher knelt down again and tugged at a vine, trying to shift it aside. "The gym will be fine. It'll be rebuilt, but this? This was a living, breathing... thing, I guess. It didn't have a name. I always called it the Guardian, others called in Pan or Labyrinth or The Hedge Maze. It would bring you inside a... well. A maze, usually. Sometimes it would be different, sometimes it wouldn't be." "Depending on where you'd end up, you'd encounter different beings. Or the same, really. It was all up to chance. But for my friend's exam she had to track down two gnome tribes in particular and reconcile their differences. She even managed to convince some of them from both tribes to quit and come work in Amityville." The teacher grinned, shrugging. "There was always an adventure. Even if things seemed the same, you could always do something different. Sometimes it seemed like everything repeated itself, othertimes it didn't." "All in all... It's a shame the Guardian isn't awake or active. The vines look healthy, yet..." She trailed off, shaking her head. "Something had to have happened to make it stop working. Anyone have any ideas or things you'd like to try and wake it up? Providing it's slumbering," she added quickly.

It was like Roch woke up with that question. "Professor Red!" he said, holding up his guitar. "I might be able t'wake it?" What? Being noisy was a major part of his FEAR weapon.

Jericho stopped clawing at the vines and took a step back when Red requested them to do that. This obstacle course sounded rather interesting. So it was a maze of sorts? That may explain a few things regarding what she was referring to earlier. It sounded like an adventure inside too, which was pretty cool. "Uh.. has anyone gone in and never come out?" he asked before thinking about her question on how to wake it up. "... Set it on fire? That should.. wake it..right?"------- Shun gave the dragon a stare, then looked to try and see if he could see past the vines at all. Roch suggested music, but did this thing have ears? "Alternatively, you could try dousing it with water," he shrugged.
