Elliot’s mind slowed when their lips met, completely sucking his ability to do anything that wasn’t Evan related, and it stopped entirely when he felt those lips respond, pressing against his own. Never once had Elliot thought Evan felt the same about him, it was the reason he kept himself so closed off, or one of the many reasons at least. Evan meant so much to him, the world paling in comparison to the light in his eyes when they would argue playfully, or the way he smiled with a comfort he showed only when they were alone. Evan was what kept him going all these years, Vaim aside, though he may not have found the strength to even venture into the Wardwood had Evan not been there to keep him sane through it all.
For years he refused to acknowledge his feelings for Evan and kept them under lock and key, fearing the falling out that could come if he ever uttered a word of it. If the time called for it, Elliot knew he would be the one to initiate it, as Evan just was not the type. It was because of this that Elliot believed nothing would ever blossom between them beyond the relationship they had, because he refused to put it in jeopardy. This night, however, was proving to be full of surprises, and he felt that maybe, just this once, change wasn’t such a bad thing.
There was a whisper that hung in the air between them, a soft little thank you that Elliot, whose mind was no longer with him, felt did not make much sense, but he didn’t have time to dwell on it regardless. Evan was already pushing him down onto his back and climbing up to settle on his chest where he would stay until the sun rose again. He had never felt so drained in his life, and the pillows were doing everything to keep him from staying awake. There was another whisper, he swore as he began to drift off, and perhaps it was a dream, but if so, he wished for that dream every night until he was taken from the world. He murmured something soft, a response, and let the words “I love you too” linger in the air as slumber pulled him completely under for the next several hours.
