I think Gendo did it, because Kaji didn't have his uses anymore.

I don't want to think it was Misato (with her very depressed state of mind after the event) but the message on her answering machine puzzles me and sometimes it leads me to think she is responsible. Personally...the best guess I can make is Ritsuko. She does lead Misato and Shinji down to the place where Rei is "birthed" and from what I remember, she doesn't really make her intentions known...It could be that she is trying to make up for her act. (just a theory) Don't ask me why, its just one of those strange hunches.

Kaji knew he was going to die. as per he first few words in the episode. Misato didnt do it. and those that think so will be shot or banned by me for stupidity. Ritsuko doesnt seem to me like she did it. ill have to watch the episode to site examples. Gendo seems like the one that did it.

I never did understand why people thought she did it. It's obvious she didn't. And I doubt it was Ritsuko, she has no motive to, and I don't see Gendo ordering it.
I at first had thought it was Gendo had gotten some hard a** nerv operative or someone to Shoot Kaji on his command, but after seeing how he shot Ritsuko down, it makes sense that he himself did it.

Maybe someone from the government did it? sweatdrop I doubt Gendou would do it for some reason. Hard to explain. Maybe I'm the type of idiot who would trust him? gonk Probably. Anyway, there's my two cents. And if anyone else says it is Misato I will castrate them (or cut off their breasts if they are women) and feed their nuts/breasts to my dogs.

Misato doing it makes no sense. she loves kaji, not her job. And gendo doesn't do his own dirty work. It could be kozo who did it. Or maybe Pen-Pen. after all, Pen-Pen *is* widely suspected to be teh 11th memeber of Seele
