Gabby's hand stilled as he pet the scareon against his chest, and he watched the boil sneakily explain the meaning of the pet, before trying to leave. He turned his head, and looked at Efflo for a second, before raising a very interesting question. ".. But you shared them with us. Does that mean you're trying to date us? Like, together?" As if he didn't already have enough boil problems.

The undead boil had never really thought of his shirtless-ness as vulnerability. Not, that is, until two icy hands splayed over his back and over his sides, their gentle caress sending shivers down his spine. It was amazing how much heat that cold touch could generate. Then the dragon spoke and Efflo kind of wanted to strangle him. But Andrew was speaking, explaining something and the boil shook his head, trying to clear out the confusion that had returned tenfold. Intertwined destinies? What in Jack’s name did that mean? Gabby glanced at him and Efflo blushed scarlet, as much as his dark skin would allow. He hugged his new pet close and tried to compensate with another glare, but it really didn’t do much for his complexion. And then Gabby was speaking yet again, and this time Efflo rolled his eyes. “You’re an idiot.” He was also right, and Efflo was curious too, but he wasn’t about to give the dragon any satisfaction.

"Don't flatter yourself Frost Dragon. If you would rather pay, they are 50 seeds a piece so either take them as they are or pay me." Andrew paused long enough to glare over his shoulder at the dragon. "I just gave them to you as a promo." his tail flicked from side to side burning with heat and annoyance. "Unless you really don't want them, I'm sure someone else will be happy to pay full price for them." he shrugged. He really should charge, they weren't cheap to get. He just thought he's have a little fun before selling. It wouldn't be any lost, other than having to deal with the pets longer.

Pay for them? All of Gabby's teasing flew out the window as he clutched the pet closer, briefly distracted by Efflo's insult - just enough to make him shove the boil lightly away - before shaking his head at Andrew. "No, too late, you gave it up, it's ours now. I was just stating the obvious." He eyed Efflo's scareon for a minute, considered trying to steal it and run.. before just cuddling his own minipet harder. "'m not an idiot, idiot." He grumbled out quietly.

Efflo bumped his hip back into Gabby firmly, standing his ground. That was the only reason he did it, the only one. It definitely wasn’t because he was confused about why he felt like he wanted the dragon’s attention and why he felt so angry with him at the same time. And it certainly wasn’t about Andrew’s tail suddenly glowing brighter… Well, no, that was definitely part of it. Efflo inched a little bit back, making sure he’d be able to use Gabby as a flame shield if needed. “No, no, don’t listen to him Andrew, it was really nice of you to give them to us,” Efflo said, forcing a smile. “Thank you, they’re very cute.” He caught Gabby staring at his scareon, and shot him a look that said yes you are an idiot, and don’t even think about it.

Andrew frowned at Gabby, still very much irritated, and was secretly pleased at Efflo's retreat. Good, be afraid of him. He was fire, and scary and a demon, even if he had no plans to actually harm another student. But Efflo's words calmed his anger and his tail returned to regular levels, wings and body relaxing. "Right then. Don't forget to tell people I have them. 50 seeds a piece." he flashed his best smile and took off again.

50 seeds a piece.. like hell was Gabby telling anyone that the boil was selling minipets. He kept quiet, refusing to lose his new free gift, and just let the boil head off without a word this time. Efflo was clearly the sweet talker of the two, which left Gabby with the fun job of just shutting the hell up. But when Andrew was gone, Gabby turned to face Efflo, held up his scareon, and smushed it against the one in the other boils hands. His own scareon looked unhappy at the intrusion. "Now kiss." He was probably never going to let Efflo live that down.

Efflo’s scareon seemed confused at first but it wasn’t as if it didn’t like the other scareon, after all, they’d been shoved in that tiny box together for so long. Oh, and of course, that thing about intertwining destinies. So it made a happy little squeak and gave the other scareon’s face an affectionate lick. Efflo on the other hand, stood frozen on the spot. It was like fate had known exactly what he didn’t want to happen today and had made sure it all happened over the course of ten minutes. The boil stared; horrified as his scareon did the very thing he’d been guilty of doing. Oh nononononono… “I… I... I guess it likes yours?” he stammered, face red and forcing a weak smile. “Although, I guess you can’t really blame it, you did make them do it…” Nope, no parallels to be drawn here, none at all.

When Efflo's scareon actually did give his a kiss, the scareon Gabby was holding made this face. Gabby had expected the two to just fight until they were pulled away, but he hadn't counted on just how much time they'd already spent together. They were comfortable, and accepting of their own proximity. Due to the initial comparison Gabby had been trying to make, when he pushed it forward, this revelation made the boil's white cheeks darken with color. He turned away, making just as grumpy a face as his scareon. He pulled it away and wrapped it back up in his arms, cuddling it close. The scareon simply laid there, head lolling back, in utter humiliating acceptance of defeat. "Yeah. Well. You know." He muttered, his words coming out in an odd stutter. "Whatever."The scareon in his arms lolled its head, staring pitifully at the two in front of them, and a lazy paw jutted out, reaching for the other scareon. Gabby caught it, and tucked it back in his arms. With a very quiet, very disgruntled mutter, he spoke to the floor he was currently staring at angrily. "I guess mine likes yours too. A little." The scareon in his arms huffed.

Efflo looked a little put out. On one hoof, he was glad that the worst retaliation he got from the dragon was his annoying snark, but on the other… He was still extremely frustrated. But he wasn’t sure how to broach the subject of what happened, or sure if he even really wanted to. The boil heaved a sigh at Gabby’s reply; at least things hadn’t degraded into a shoving match yet. Yet. The ponyboil placed his scareon on the ground, giving its little head a pat. Good boy, he thought. Then taking opportunity of the frosty student’s fluster, he reached into the other’s arms and carefully extracted his minipet, placing it on the ground next to his. Efflo’s scareon squeaked again happily, nuzzling up against the other with a purr. “You don’t have to be so angry you know,” Efflo said quietly, wincing a little at his next words, “It was just a kiss.” Except that it wasn’t, at least not for the undead horse. But they could pretend right?

"Wait, don't-" He felt the scareon being removed from his grasp, and he stuttered, holding his hands up. That scareon was being used as his security blanket - holding it meant he didn't have to do anything else with his hands. Holding it meant he had something between them, something that would keep his thoughts focused, and ... and now it was gone. He huffed just as his scareon had a moment ago, and shoved his hands into his pockets. He tried not to watch the scareons cuddle, but his eyes were side glanced, defeated as he took in the sight of his own scareon tolerating the nuzzles and affection with an enigmatic glare that hid its true feelings. That would have worked, if it wasn't purring loudly the entire time. Traitor. Gabby's glare shot up at the boil when he admonished him for his attitude, but it was the next few words that actually struck him deep where it hurt. His lips parted, and he stared in a moment of betrayal, before his lips snapped shut and he masked every emotion. "So that's all it was to you?" Well. Maybe not every emotion.

“NO!” Efflo replied with a shout (and answer) that surprised even him. “But what’s the point, you hate me right? So why should you care if it mattered? What do you want me to say? That I’m all messed up inside and I don’t know what to think? That I’m just a weird boil who likes kissing you?!” He hollered his tirade at Gabby, hands clenched into fists at his sides. His scareon was looking up at him with wide eyes, startled by the loudness and sort of wondering what the hell was going on. It tried to hide itself underneath the other one, peeking out cautiously. Efflo wasn't like Gabby, he was full of emotions. They always simmered close to the surface, waiting to spill over and the boil was terrible at reining them back in.

If Gabby could die of a heart attack, that no might have done the trick. He clutched his chest in shock, and tried to focus on what Efflo was saying despite it. He just let Efflo rant on, giving himself time to calm down and let it all sink in. The few moments of silence that stretched right after Efflo admitted himself, felt like the loudest lack of sound Gabby'd ever heard. But he didn't know what to think. He didn't know what to say. Efflo was all fire and heat and emotion, and Gabby was nothing but cold, confused frustration. He envied the boil, for a moment. Just one single moment, before he convinced himself that it would be terrible to be so open with your feelings. "I don't hate you. I never said I hated you." That was what he'd clung to, that one simple wrongness in all of those words Efflo's shouted out. Gabby's voice was even quieter than it had been before - as if the more Efflo shouted, the quieter he became. He frowned and kept his hands in his pockets, trying, with all of his might (which wasn't very much) to at least express himself. The boil deserved that much. "I think that's exactly what I wanted you to say." Gabby muttered. "Because it's less confusing if I'm not the only one." He lifted a finger, and pointed it sharply at the boil. "But I never said I hated you. So chill out."

“You chill out,” Efflo mumbled sullenly, burnt out on his anger. But grumpy as he tried to sound, a hint of a smile tugged at the boil’s lips. Gabby didn’t hate him.

Gabby could have gotten angry at that retort, but he saw that smile. He saw it, and it made him feel a ridiculous rush of relief that tingled within. So instead, Gabby took the smartass way out of the conversation, pulling his hands out of his pockets and placing them firmly on his own hips. "I can't chill out. I'm already cold as ice." If he had sunglasses.. he'd flip them on right then and there.
